UPDATE Michael Jackson rushed to the hospital (He Has Died)

The family is holding a news conference in 6 minutes.

Reports are now saying that Michael was taking prescription drugs which may have caused his death, per family attorney.

I feel so bad this has happened. I grew up listening to Michael. So sad!!!

As I am sitting here watching MTV they have a video of Ryan White, he was a young boy with AIDS and Michael wrote a song for him and spent time with him. He changed music in so many ways. I am so upset, yes it was part of my childhood and he got Kookier as he got older BUT he was so amazing and so talented.

It's just shocking and sad.

Honestly, when I first heard he was rushed to the hospital, I was thinking it may be a publicity stunt, since he had series of concerts coming up.

That's what I figured. I know he was addicted to painkillers in the past and I thought I read that he was still taking them for some injury. Sad.

Everyone knows they just wanted money. If it was true why would they accept money over justice?
If it wasn't true, why did he pay $15 million? Why didn't he just go through a trial? I'm not saying that that's proof of his guilt...but it's no more proof of his guilt than accepting the payment is proof that the alleged victim's family was just out for money.
My gut tells me he did molest children in some way, but that he wasn't a bad person but mentally ill. Not excusing him, just feeling sorry for him that he was he was so messed up with enablers all around him. I believe he loved children, and saw himself as a child, which led to his sick behavior. It makes me sad that his "protectors" didn't step in years ago as soon as he started getting weird. Those kids could have been saved from the molestation, and
Michael could have been saved from his self-destruction.
Aren't all molestors both bad people and mentally ill for what they did?
UMMMMM no one has to like him.... people do have to respect the dead... I was ALWAYS TAUGHT ( my spelling does suck lol)... I guess we weren't all taught that.
ALL dead? Because I can think of a whole lot of dead people who didn't and don't deserve any respect. Do I think MJ is one of them? :confused3 I believe there are different perceptions of him and about what does or does not deserve respect, and different opininons about how he led his life. But no, I don't feel every person, just by virtue of the fact that he/she has died, deserves respect. JMHO

I am all for people starting a MJ was wonderful lets not say anything bad thread- but this thread is not it- title it appropriately.
Just understand that just as you are being offended people are not being 'respectful' of his death, other people are equally offended by people singing him praise

um well people need to be respectfull period... but I can't stop you. and if you are going to be offended by me doing the right thing... well :rolleyes1

and I am not just talking about respecting of the dead... people were asked nicely... to take it elsewhere... not just by me people were mourning.. they can't mourn cause other people want to vent in here about molesting..."he did it" "I think he did" :(

well I am not saying he didn't do it... I am just sad he died... I want to be sad..and came accross some pretty bad stuff

ok ty all and I am sad to see him die.. I am really sad.... he diserves some respect..

I do understand where you are coming from in regards to what he was AQUITTED for BUT you can't say he wasn't talented and in his prime was amazing. You can sing his praises for when he was well he is still even in his death #1

I just saw this and it brought tears to my eyes. Talk about a video that really defines my generation. Michael at his prime and Ryan, a boy that dealt with so much with strength, grace and smiles. Tears for both of them and their families.

MTE

I think it is perfectly acceptable to discuss both the high and low points of Jackson's life. It is what it is.

There is no 'right' or 'wrong' thing.

I have some fond MJ memories. My sons were very young when MJ was at the height of his popularity, with his videos for Thriller, Beat It, Billy Jean, etc on MTV all the time. They were so cute trying to imitate MJ's moon-walking and dancing. One of my sons even had a MJ themed birthday cake, and both of them got miniature red, zippered jackets for Christmas.:) I'm sad to hear of MJ's passing, as well as sad for what seemed to be a very difficult life.

I have no problem saying he was a very talented musician- I really love some of his stuff!
I have a problem with people saying that the children who accused him are greedy liars- being found not guilty and settling for millions of dollars are two very different things.
I think he was a bad person and a great musician. I don't understand why everyone wants me to pretend I feel differently?

I hope so. Right now, that is where my thought are. He seemed to be all that they had. I hope they had someone else. It seems so sad that they really have nothing right now.

How about their mother?

I can't help but wonder what happens to his kids? I mean, they were so protected by him and what happens to them now?

And, you know this to be a fact, how? He was never convicted of anything. I'm much more inclined to believe that those people were trying to get money from Michael. Don't be so quick to judge a book by its cover. Just because he looked odd did not mean he was a bad person.

No, I wasn't there. He was only not convicted because he had money and because of who he is. I didn't judge this book by it's cover, it was all out in the open for everybody to hear. And I didn't say anyting about his looks.

Many others have said alot worse than I did, so don't single me out.

How about their mother?
She has no leagel right to them apparently. Also they didn't seem to know her, so going to her might be a pretty bad idea. She basically married him for money in exchange for children. That's fine and all, if she chose not to do it he would have found another woman to do it, but I doubt they will go to her.

Hopefully there was family or maybe a nanny or body guard that they were close to that they can go to.

But when you think about a SuperStar or Icon he is up there, I mean I think he might have even created that word at the time? I could be wrong but that is what I remember.

But seeing the people in LA, at his home, Times Square and at the Apollo Theatre right now. They are fans and they are mourning the loss of a Legend, they are dancing in the streets. That is says something about this man.

RIP MJ.

He was a truly great talent.

I hope that his children have a shot at a "normal" childhood and that they are filled with great memories of their dad.

In response to a previous poster about the settlers being able to come out about what "really" happened now...I hope that they use discretion and remember that Michael's children are going to be effected by all of this.

:grouphug: Hugs to everyone...its been a tough week.
