Delta used to offer great prices from Detroit to MCO! But the past few years they have been pretty high. I just booked tickets in November. Round trip tickets were as low as $250 It is much sooner than I would usually book, but I have not seen prices like that in years (for Delta). I really hope our plans don't change!

If those are "E" fares and you are still with-in your 24 hour purchase I would cancel. They are fully restricted. You can't even select a seat and will get get whatever is left at the airport that day. Last to board, so no overhead space. No changes permitted at all. If you can live with that and possibly be split up if traveling as a family then its a good deal. Keep in mind first bags are $25 and second bags $35.

They are offered on routes out of DTW where Spirit Airlines competes on.

I would have waited until Southwest schedule came out for November and then decided.

Always be sure you read and understand the fare rules before purchasing your ticket. For Delta's basic economy (E) fares there are many restrictions, which are explained on their web page. No advanced seat selection, no changes,
no upgrades, no ability to pay or get free economy comfort seats, etc. Too restrictive for me.

I should be more clear. I booked business class, it is a G class fare, so discounted business. If there is a problem with the flight than I may run into issues. Basic economy was $250 and regular economy was $268. I just posted the lowest fare on my thread so folks would know how low they are, and didn't want to be all "I just booked business!"

$268 is still really really good. $504 for business is amazing. I know the rules. You have to book something with Delta, and these prices are literally the best I have seen in years. I suppose I could have booked the refundable rate, but, at $2500 that would limit me to traveling infrequently. I understand you have to play their games, but in my experience Delta has been fantastic.

If Delta flys to a location we always book Delta, regardless of cost. We are exceptionally loyal to Delta, so I am not terribly interested in Southwest's prices or schedules.

I don't fly Delta, so am not familiar with their business class. I have flown business domestically many times on United, but only due to upgrades. Personally, I don't think paying for domestic business is worth it, but many do. Sometimes you do run across great fares.

well, you get 2 "free" checked bags, and since my DH is 6'4 we always upgrade regular fares to economy comfort, which is $40 for this flight. So between that and bags, our economy ticket would be $398 (fare plus extras). Our business class ticket was $504 For what works out to be about $50 each way? It is so worth it. Sometimes they are stupid expensive, but on this one the price is right-at every booking level:Econ basic, econ, and business. Much cheaper than the past few years.

Flying delta out of Detroit is just great. The terminal is fantastic, and there are always a plethora of flights since detroit is a major delta hub. We have had only good experiences with Delta.

You get 3 free checked bags actually. Btw we're your dates firm? I'm seeing G and Z fares for $404 roundtrip in November. Still a good deal however especially if your bringing alot of luggage. I hope you selected meal time flights to get even more value.

I'm the opposite and think it's almost always worth it to book business or first class. Can't stand how crowded and unfun flying has become. I will fly economy comfort if I can monopolize a row with family members, but otherwise, the chance of getting moved to the middle seat between strangers is too horrible. I'm afraid I'd be crying and sucking my thumb before the plane even took off (and I haven't done that in over 40 years).

I hear that - I think flying is a drag, even in first class. I usually fly United, where I can get Economy + seats for free. I'm just as happy in an aisle exit row seat rather than first class; more leg room and I already get free checked bags and boarding in group 1. In the exit row, there won't be any kids either. Flying internationally is another story; nothing beats those lie flat seats in business and first class on a long flight.

Thank SW for the low Delta fares. SW has launched an "assault" on Delta in Atlanta now that they have finally merged with AirTran.... Not sure how long this will last but....

It hasn't done much for Detroit DL fares in general. At least, not so far.

I just booked for June - DTW > MCO on Delta and paid $226 (regular economy). I thought that was a great fare. I typically fly out of Detroit to Orlando 4-5 times a year. On the flip side, unfortunately I paid $507 for my trip in two weeks! I didn't start looking until late December and my dates weren't very flexible and that darn fare never budged for a few weeks so I bit the bullet. I checked last week and it was the same.

I am trying to fly from MCO to LAX for in August, and over the last week I've seen only fares over $400 roundtrip (economy 'x'). We last flew to LAX in 2013 when gas prices were higher than they are now, and I paid $305 roundtrip. It's 6 months before the flight date, hardly any seats are taken so far, so why it is so expensive? My travel agent said that airlines aren't passing on fuel savings to their customers, but I would have expected the fares to be the same as they have been, if not lower. Any thoughts?

I have been starting to watch our flight prices for our upcoming trip and we will be flying Detroit to Orlando as well. For the past week they have been around a steady $246 round trip for the basic economy. My mom wants to wait to see if they will go down but I'm not so sure? Our trip isn't until next January so I realize we have a lot of time but I'm not as optimistic as her :/ Debating on whether or not to buy now! I've always flown basic economy and they've still had good seats to choose at check in so we aren't worried about upgrading or anything.

I agree with Mom, way to early to book, especially since you are not going during peak travel time. We're leaving Sunday and I booked our Delta flights in December only to see them drop the end of January (about 6 weeks out). I saw the basic economy go as low as $180 if you didn't mind flight times.
