We stayed in a resort view 1 bedroom at Boardwalk last summer. The room was huge! It was on the curve at the far end of the hallway. We had great views of the Skyliner and could see Epcot fireworks. The balcony was amazing. The big downside to the room was the wonky, tiny, box of a shower. The room also seemed to be only partially refurbished. It was perfect for us because we had plenty of room for a blow up mattress so our kids didn't need to share a bed. I'm wondering if there are other DVC rooms that don't fit the "norm" like this one?

We’ve stayed in the corner 1 bed at BRV with the alternate layout before, room 5528. We loved the layout but some people might not with the living room tv position. Also no Murphy bed with it being 5th floor.

BWV P/G also has some corner rooms with an extra window. For example, 5026 overlooks the main pool off the balcony, but has a window on the side facing Studios-ish. You could also see the high shots of Illuminations over the roofline. It was a pretty nice spot, though the pool noise in the afternoon was noticable.

VGF BPK has six ‘different’ studios. On the 5th floor there are 3 studios w/out balconies - 2 have small bay window bump outs & 1 has the larger tower bump out. There is also one larger tower bump out studio on floors 2, 3 & 4 which do have balconies.

Ive heard of these rooms. Did you think they were only partially refurbed due to the murphy bed?

Boulder Ridge has an unusual room. There is one studio that does not have a veranda, all the rest have them, but room 4533 doesn't. The view isn't bad but if a veranda is important, it's the one room that doesn't have it.

I have yet to stay at VGF, so this is exactly the information I was hoping to get from this thread! I would be very bummed not to have a balcony. Thanks!

The one I was in appeared to have old carpeting in the bedroom. It was cream with green vines through it and was full carpet, not an area rug. It had a lot of windows in the living/kitchen area, so there was a pull out sofa instead of a murphy.

I had one of these studios two summers ago! We had a 5th floor one with the vaulted ceilings and bump out that served as almost a living room. It was amazing.

Did you feel the vaulted ceilings and bump out more than made up for the lack of a balcony?

Yes, but I was also traveling in July so the chances of me wanting to spend time on the balcony were quite low lol. I was also traveling with two of my friends so it gave us all our own space to spread out.

Thanks! And I agree about the traveling in July comment-we went once in July. because we had close to 100 points expiring the next month (August use year). Yeah, I probably could have tried renting them, but isn't an unexpected trip in July more fun? After experiencing July at WDW, I'm not so sure.

Haha! I am a teacher so unfortunately the summer trips are inevitable for us. We just take things slowly. That trip in particular was mostly a resort only trip with one park day.

We had that corner room on the 3rd floor in December. I didn’t even think about the carpet in the bedroom, but I just looked at my pics and it was the carpet with green vines. Also there was no dresser under the living room tv. Just a huge open area that looked empty. It was nice for us because we only had 2 people, but I think if we had people sleeping in the living room a Murphy bed would be better than the pull out couch. The huge balcony was great. The large living room and kitchen was great. We traveled with a group of 9 people and could all comfortably hang out in our living room area. We really didn’t like the tiny shower though. Plus it ended up leaking into the room below us! We didn’t even know until maintenance came. They knocked and then immediately walked in without even waiting for us to open the door. 😒

There are some studios at BCV that have huge balconies that overlook the quiet pool.

Vero Beach has some unique studios in the Inn building that provide lots of extra space. And some have a partial ocean view (that are not ocean cat).

Oh yes! We got one of those large balconies at BCV on our last visit. Good info on Vero.
