Good morning, hyenas!
It's dark and gloomy, gitcheegoomie... OH, wait.
How does that poem go?
Wow Alex, you're turning into a regular Party Animal! So let me get this straight. You fall asleep at 9pm when talking to the Hyenas, but you stay awake all night with the "Other Girls"! Guess we are just getting too boring! J/K... But maybe you're onto something. Should you start DISing from outside so the cold will keep you awake??
Don't think I wasn't having a hard time with them! These big yawns would come and I'd pull my hot chocolate mug up, pretending to take a drink.
The funny thing is we're all three talkers, but they work together still, and were doing most of the talking! I heard a lot about the office (none of it good, BTW.) One's DH quit his job right before I did, and had intended to find another job, but they talked and decided he liked being home with the kids and they could make it now on one salary, so... He's a SAHD! The other one's DH is in a demanding career and so is she, and they have 3 kids, so it's hard to keep up with everything for work and family, and they don't get enough sleep just trying to stay afloat. She would love to quit and stay home, but they're not at a point yet where they can afford it.
Work life now is just very stressful, and management is very much into pointing The Finger of Blame, always looking for a scapegoat they can hang problems onto. One friend went into a grilling before upper management, held her own until someone asked about a standard way of doing something and she said there wasn't a standard, so she did it her way. The Big Cheese asked her boss' boss why there was no standard and he said there most certainly was one, and he would send her a link to the information via email. Well, did the email come? No. So she asked around about a standard and guess what? THERE ISN'T ONE! He just saved his own bacon and made her look like a fool in the meeting. That's the corporate culture for ya. Good thing I'm outta there!
Oh, man, this is one of the worst things in my life! I had the most beautiful wedding ring, I just loved it! It was an oval amethyst, with tiny diamonds surrounding it, plus amethysts in these sort of windowpanes down the side of the band. It wasn't a terribly expensive ring (around $400 - $500), but I just loved it so much, and I'm very sentimental anyway.
The last time we went to Maui (2002) DH bought me a ring I fell in love with there, it had strips of opal in a sort of twisty-band pattern. It was a little on the pricey side for us for a non-wedding ring ($400), and I wore both rings constantly!
About a month or two after getting the opal ring, I was in a
Bath and Body Works and tried on some hand lotion. I took my rings off and laid them on the countertop, then had to go the bathroom, so dashed across the street. I washed my hands, then realized I didn't have my rings, so I ran back to the store, and in the less than 5 minutes I was gone, someone had taken my rings!
I hope whoever took them burns in Hades, and that whoever is wearing them gets a constant rash!!!
So I was ringless for years, and DH hated seeing me without a ring. A year ago he insisted on buying me a new wedding ring, and had one designed. It's a comfort-fit band, with 3 round diamonds, the center one larger than the other two. It's a very classic setting, but I didn't like any that were on the market, so he had one made with the simple features I liked. Have I mentioned that I
love him?
So is anybody out there like me, in an inter-pb marriage? If so how do you handle it, and how are you raising your kids??
DH comes from a long line of Creamy Peanut Butter ancestors. I on the other hand come from a very strong Crunchy Peanut Butter family.
When we were first married I tried to convert DH by only buying crunchy pb. But he protested and started adding creamy to the grocery cart. He eats way more pb than I do.
DD seems to have been born with the creamy gene, she hates crunchy. But DS seems to be ambidextrous and will eat either creamy or crunchy. So far it seems to be working ok, but it can be a hassle at times.
We have to buy both. I'm a crunch PB person, but DH was a creamy. When DS7 was little he had trouble eating solids because of the texture, so when he was introduced to peanut butter, he couldn't stand crunchy. DS3, at least so far, seems to prefer creamy as well. But I have converted DH now, MUWAHAHAHAHAH!
