DS used to play with DD's dolls when he was little. Unfortunately his favorite thing to do was put them in the back of his Tonka dump truck and hurl them down the driveway.:rotfl2:

He really wants to crochet himself a scarf. But he is very impatient and wants to do it NOW!! I keep trying to teach him how to crochet a chain, he does ok for a couple of minutes then gets frustrated. Maybe by the time winter is over he will have it figured out.

My mom taught me how to crochet when I was little. We used to take margarine container, punch holes around the top and crochet a purse onto the top. I told DS we could do the same thing for him, but make a pirate treasure holder. He wanted to make one tonight. I told him he had to learn to crochet a chain first, he started crying and threw it down. That's about the 3rd time he's done that, but he keeps coming back.:thumbsup2
Did you tell him Rome wasn't built in a day, or some other Samily?

Hello, Checking in again!!

Went to church this morning. My Mom and stepdad came over after, and we went for a beautiful Sunday drive. Drove all over the valley and into the foothills. The fall color is so pretty right now. We topped it off with a wonderful lunch at the end. Came home, and watched Ratatouille. Cute movie. Heard they might put a restaurant in DCA themed after it. Wouldn't that be fun. Not very California-e..............but oh well.

We're having Thanksgiving at our house this year. About 12 coming over. Our tradidtion is of course turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, creamed onions, candied yams, fresh green beans and mushrooms, glazed carrots, cranberry jello salad, green salad, rolls, and homemade jam. This year I'm going to try and make sweet potato rolls. I just made pumpkin bars, instead of a pumpkin pie. I'll also be making a pecan pie...Dave's favorite. Apple pie too. By the way, I am getting help on the food. :cool1: Oh and this year we are starting a new dish to add to tradition. Kaitlyn absolutely loves corn casserole. She makes it all the time. So I told her she can make it for Thanksgiving. If anyone is interested, it is a really good recipe, and goes with the holiday. Just ask me for it. And yes Alex, it is very easy to do.

Last night I made some really good chile verde. Had my whole family over, and everyone loved it. I'm willing to share that too, if I have any takers. :rotfl:

Shawna, It's nice to see your old siggie again. I missed it.
I think I like it much better than the toothpaste.

What's in it? I love corn, but have never heard of a corn casserole before!

I'm bringing a couple pies to my sister's for Thanksgiving. My sister started hosting Thanksgiving a couple of years ago, but my mom still winds up doing most of the cooking. My sister is a very messy housekeeper, so she takes days off from work to furiously clean her home in preparation for the day. Then she's exhausted, whining about how tired she is, and yelling at the kids to stay out of her numerous little knicknacks that are everywhere.

I've offered to host because the kids and DH don't really like going to my sister's and she's always complaining, but she insists on hosting, so that's that, I guess. We already host Christmas Eve for the family, so DH wasn't too keen on us doing Thanksgiving as well. Are ya feelin' the looooove??? :rotfl:

Ds3 is watching some sequel to Air Bud that has lots of little puppies in it. He just crawled into my lap to snuggle up, and I caught a whiff of something bad. He had reached his hand up to touch my face, so I grabbed his hand and sniffed, but it wasn't the hand.

I looked at him and said, "Honey, did you poo-poo?"
Without even taking his eyes off the screen he said slowly, "Yeeeeeessss."

UGH. BRB, again!

Yeehaw! I love your TR,I'm so glad you decided to write it! :yay:

We're much better now, thank you for asking...

I'm wondering if he's got a bug... DH and I have been queasy this weekend, and DS3's diaper was rank! (I mean moreso than usual!)

Uh oh, that's not good. You and your DH haven't been feeling well? Sorry to hear that. I hope it's nothing serious.  Is it just the flu?

I'll give the recipe. Warning...........it is not calorie free that's for sure.

Corn Casserole

1 (15 oz.) can whole corn
1 (15oz.) can creamed corn
1 (8oz.) package corn muffin mix (recommended: Jiffy)
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup ( 1 stick) butter, melted
1 to 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 350*

In a large bowl, stir together the 2 cans of corn, muffin mix, sour cream, and melted butter. Bake for 45 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oven and top with cheese. Return to oven for 5 to 10 minutes, or until cheese has melted. Let stand for 5 minutes and serve warm.

This is a recipe from Paula Deen on the Food Network. Yum!

Not as bad as the flu, thank goodness! DH has a low fever today, but just feels a bit queasy and tired.
DS3 didn't eat dinner, but i can see by his face that he had no trouble downing some chocolate Halloween candy... :sad2:

Corn Casserole
Wow, this recipe sounds similar to something a friend of my aunt's brought after my grandmother died. She was a lovely Southern lady, and definitely a great cook! She fixed this enormous, luscious ham the likes of which I have only ever seen on TV (with pineapple rings and maraschino cherries!), and this side dish that I think was scalloped potatoes and onions, sour cream and cheese, and goodness knows what else. It was soooo rich and fattening and YUMMY!
