Unpopular Opinions- Wish Edition

Haven't seen pricing yet, but they are clearly throwing in to expand concierge. The last few cruises I have tried to book have certainly had concierge sell out far before the rest of the categories, but so have the cheapest insides. I'm surprised they went so heavy on the verandah rooms and wonder if the price jump to those won't be as significant...? Aside from adding more space to concierge spaces we haven't heard of anything else being added to make the cost "worth it". My husband and I can afford it (well, cat V at least) but choose not to after doing it once. The price doubles and we'd rather sail twice.

We just booked Fantasy 11/11-11/14 2021. A deluxe family with verandah was $3,169.44 for 2 adults and 2 kids. The same room on concierge level was $6k.

Having stayed on the Dream in the 1BR Concierge, it’s is no way worth $3k more for a Deluxe with verandah with concierge perks.

FWIW, I find the theming of the rooms to be excessive. I suspect Disney has chosen this ship to cater to the Disney obsessed customer who loves the theming at many of the Disney World resorts. As someone who finds much of that overdone, I can already say that the Wish looks like the least appealing of the Disney fleet.

This is where I'm at with the Wish. I hope those who go on it have a blast, but I don't think it's for me.

I don't see that big of an improvement over past ships. Its a slightly larger DREAM/FANTASY but without anymore activities, pools, hot tubs for guests. They need to expand their portfolio on cruising for sure

There actually are more pools than the Dream/Fantasy and a lot of the ship that hasn’t been revealed yet.

Maybe that is true, in which case my opinion may change. I just haven't seen anything amazing yet that has been revealed. I'm also not sure why they would hold details back....I can't think of another cruise line that has hidden the features of a new ship

I haven't read every post, but I was hoping for a better adult solarium similar to what Royal does. Ive been on the Oasis and the Anthem and their adult solariums are amazing. Lots of great lounging choices, pools with stairs (I hate trying to get in and out with ladders), and very relaxing. Wish looks small and cramped. I want to sail it because its 'new' but I know a 4 night cruise is probably going to come in double what a 7 night larger Royal ship costs. We had a fantastic time on the Oasis. We also love Disney, but bang for our buck at this point is Royal. Im sure we will sail Wish eventually, but right now I am anxious to get back in the parks before I cruise anyway!

Bumping this thread since many of you had gripes about the adult areas on the Wish - with the information that's been revealed, are some of your concerns slightly assuaged? I really like what I've been seeing re: the Bayou, the Cinderella-themed piano lounge, the nautical pub, and the Star Wars cocktail bar.

I mentioned it in another thread, but I was sold on the Dream until I saw what the Wish had to offer for adults. I'm just wondering since my partner is going to be harder to win over on a Disney Cruise than I am... I want us both to have a good time.

I’m still debating my options (with an early first flight of the morning-of-cruise flight to Miami for the Dream currently being in the lead as I want to experience the 50th stuff at WDW, so the Fantasy is out) for next year.

NOT a Star Wars fan at all, so that lounge is a no-go. Not really into Tiana - and hate New Orleans, so a P&F lounge does not thrill me. Cinderella and piano bar don’t go together in my head. And don’t want to be all fancy all the time (Rose or whatever that one is called) so I’m not sure where I could chill.

LESS than thrilled with the crappy VR or whatever take on Midship Detective.

The one known show (Aladdin) is my LEAST favorite of the DCL stage shows - so that would be a night to hang out…nowhere based on the lounges we have seen.

I’m actually ok with the dining rooms. Pools skeeve me out, but the dry area for adults looks nice.

The completionist side of me feels like I should keep it. But the side of me that wants to fully enjoy my vacation is worried that it will taint my park time before. And by the time we are getting reports it will be too late to change to the Dream.

Anyone know when the other shows will be announced? I'm terrified they'll announce some Marvel or Star Wars show! I am more interested in the BatB and Tangled shows than Aladdin. Haven't been on a Disney Cruise in 15 years.

I'm not a Star Wars fan either, but I can appreciate its cultural significance and DCL looks to have done a good job... I'm still bummed Iger acquired Lucas Entertainment and Marvel... but it's just something to live with, I suppose.

Having just completed an adults only Virgin Voyages cruise, I'm a full convert. Its a big kids ship for adults only. That said we have the transatlantic on the Magic next year a Wish cruise in September. After seeing the spaced Virgin have that the Aft of the ship for chill out spaces, I'm a little more ar ease over the adult space at the back of the ship. I feel it will be a bit bigger than the concept art makes it look.

I'm still not bowled over by all the excess disney theme.... but guess its a disney ship - I just prefer a little more understated less is more approach!

It looks like a family dinner during war times- you try to make it look nice- but it’s still beans and rice. Uninspired and basic- the only area that gave me ‘oohs’ was the Princess and Frog themed dining- the rest was Hampton Inn quality- I want a little better for that price point.

For all if you who dislike the Wish, what would your ideal ship look like? It can’t look the same as the other Disney ships. It needs to be different.

what if our ideal ship IS one of the other Disney ships?

I seriously doubt they will have two big production shows on a ship. At least will likely be some type of original story incorporating Disney music (a la Dreams or Believe) and the other may be a retelling (a la Twice Charmed) or a revue (a la Golden Mickeys). Not saying they will be those exact shows since they said “new” but in the style of.

I don't know I think having both the Marvel MDR & the Frozen makes for a good balance.

I’m not a fan of the Frozen menu, so I share the same concerns. The ship is a little too “princessy” for me. I love the atrium, but the Frozen MDR is a disappointment, quite frankly.

Overall, the ship looks beautiful and I would expect nothing less. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I like the Star Wars Lounge & incorporation of Marvel. Disney owns those properties and they are immensely successful, so I agree with their addition. And I'm a fan of the themes of the dining rooms and lounges. However, I don't need full on theatrical shows in the dining room. Don't get me wrong, Tangled was fun one time, but do I need it again? Nope. If we had kids, it might be a different story.

I haven't kept up on all the news, but still less than impressed with the adult areas and (correct me if I'm wrong), didn't some of cabins lose the split bathrooms?

I guess for me, the overall value isn't there for DH & I. I'm not excited enough and I don't see anything new and different enough to justify the astronomical cost of the Wish sailings. I see the new ships coming out from other cruise lines (I mean have you seen the Celebrity Beyond?) and I can pay a lot less and still get the same amenities or more. Just without the Disney theming. And that's OK with us.

Late to the party here. LOL!

When bookings for Wish began I actually had the inaugural on hold. But, we decided NOT to book it and let the hold roll off. I would've done the inaugural for the hoopla but....really....it would've JUST been for the bragging rights. I don't want to even BE a bragging rights kinda girl. It was going to be a LOT of money for a short little cruise just to say I did it. Naaaah.

We didn't even bother considering other Wish sail dates. I'm not a Star Wars person at all. I have a very pointed dislike for Frozen so absolutely NO way I'd step foot in that venue. The only Marvel I've ever watched/enjoyed are the 2 Deadpool movies. Being a family vessel, I don't see Deadpool being present. Haha! For the price....2 out of 3 MDRs I don't care at all to even see....a lot of the décor is pretty meh/basic/sterile to us....it's *just* the Bahamas ports which we've done plenty....there's just nothing motivating us or creating any desire to sail the Wish.

It's rather disappointing, really. I expected classic, classy Disney. I don't get that from anything I've seen for Wish.

I guess I'm in the minority here but I think the ship looks great, especially the adult areas. The Cinderella piano bar and the Tiana lounge are perfect examples of things that I think Disney really does well. It's slightly themed with little touches of the background and not overly done. So everyone should be able to enjoy it regardless of what you think about those movies/characters. They are adult areas afterall and aren't going to be overly themed like the kids clubs. The Star Wars bar is something totally different of course and I understand that will excite some and not others.

We've got the Wish booked next year but may or may not go based on job vacation situation. It's so expensive we just booked it as a maybe if we can, it'd be great but not a must
