Booked VGT, but have a medical issue now, any changes possible?

This is why I don't use TA's. There is not way of knowing what was discussed between the TA and the CM. Of course we know CM's vary. I hope it all works out for you. I would ask when you get onboard.
Well considering that the TA would actually increase her commission if the client upgraded, I would believe that he/she tried her best to get Disney to upgrade them for a higher cost.

We will never know.

Sorry for the late reply, we flew to Orlando on Saturday and then boarded Sunday morning so things were a rush the last couple days.

When we got to port yesterday we went to the counter on the second level where you board and they were super helpful. There were a number of people there doing upgrades/changes. They found us a different room on the 7th floor right outside of the elevators.

We are now on our first true at sea day, and the new location has been a big improvement. I walked to the room we had and while close to elevators, it was kind of off in its own cubby area (room 5688 on the Fantasy) and was far less direct than we have now.

The best part, it was only $97 more and we have a regular veranda instead of the navigators and I like deck 7 compared to 5 as I am 6’4” and was having to duck my head to not hit the overhead signs walking on deck 5. I guess it’s a little shorter… I don’t think it was just my imagination. I haven’t had that issue on any other deck we have been on.

Anyway, appreciate all the feedback. Disney really came through and hoping this helps someone else if they end up in a similar situation. The supervisors at the desk at the port seem to be able to do almost anything so long as rooms are available. They had a bunch of concierge left, but those would have been about $3k more and I feel like we would have missed about half of the concierge benefits like really early booking for onboard events and early boarding and all that. Still some good on ship benefits, but hard to pay over twice what we already paid just for that upgrade.

I'm super glad it all worked out for you!

It will say your experience is very much similar to my own that you can upgrade within a GT rate from an IGT to an OGT or VGT, but you cannot Upgrade ahead of time to a non restricted fare if you initially booked a restricted one

I'm thrilled that upgrades were available for you at Port and it's all worked out

Yes, on the first 4 ships ceilings are lower on deck 5. That’s the deck with the kids clubs and in order to make the kids feel bigger, they lowered the ceiling. They talk about this on the ship tour.

I'm glad it worked out for you. I've switched rooms once boarding for no charge. I agree they are really good at working with you if they can.
