Someone's probably mentioned it before, but I just got the 2006 Unofficial Guide to Disney World and wow is it ever packed with good info. :sunny:

(I had read the 2005 version, but they really did a good job on the 2006 update!)

:earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

Since I just finished my UG Inside Disney (fascinating read), I will head out to Barnes and Noble tomorrow. I read it cover to cover, and even though it makes me hyperventilate, with the frantic "seeing everything at capacity crowded conditions", I love it. Looking forward to the updates, too. I wish they would have updated the Inside Disney I read, they were still talking about opening Animal Kingdom in that version! Thanks!

They did make some serious improvements. I am happy with it.

Well, you read my mind. I was wondering if UG 2006 is worth buying or if it's just like the now outdated versions I have. Thanks for sharing.

I thought I had ordered the 2006 unofficial guide, but what I ended up getting was the unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World for Grown-Ups. Its' probably pretty good, but I wanted the unofficial guide:( Plus when we go down its not just grown ups.

I agree. I hadn't planned to buy it since I have the 2005 but after thumbing through it in the bookstore I changed my mind. I love the look of the new one and the added information. When I got the 2005 I had gone through and highlighted a lot of stuff while I was trying to decide where to stay and what to do and it's worked out well to have this one now that I know some of that stuff so I've only got things that will be helpful to me on this trip highlighted.

Has anyone found one at a cheaper price? B&N has it on their website for $13.29 and amazon for $12.91 both before s & h.

It MAY be cheaper at walmart.com, but if you can get your order at Amazon or Barnes & Noble up to at least $25, regular shipping is free - which I found will make your order TOTAL less expensive! Amazon was the cheaper of the two.
You could also do a search for "comparison shop for books". I'd give you the website I found, but I don't remember it :( Anyway, it might be possible to get a used copy - yes, already - via one of these or some other site.

It's a great book and I'd buy one any year I planned to go. Has any other guide book ever come close? I also sort of collect old copies of the Unofficial Guide.

I always find several mistakes in those guide books. I guess if I can find mistakes I probably don't need a guide book anymore. ;)

I was looking at it at Borders yesterday and was also impressed. I had planned to buy that for my husband for Christmas, the Hidden Mickey book for my daughter, the Birnbaum for kids for my son and one other WDW book that I don't remember. :confused3 I checked the prices of the books and was planning to buy them in two weeks when they have 25% off for educators. I checked amazon and was able to get all four shipped for cheaper than the 25% off discount would have been. I am happy to say that they are all on their way!!

Last year I posted a question about the pirate cruise. I was confused because the wdw website and ug gave conflicting information. One of the responders was someone from the ug who thanked me for the heads up. :flower: Maybe I am responsible for a change in this years book. ;)

I'm right in the middle of my 2006 UG. Lovin' it as usual. IA it does seem to be well put together this year. I've noticed they're including more helpful website addresses.

Did they have a date for Star Wars Weekend at MGM?

Shot in the dark.

Does the UG 2006 have detailed information about extra magic hours?? That seems to be the biggest change since out last trip. I have subscribe to their touring plans.com site but still don't feel like I have a handle on the EMH thing. I have been reading on these boards that UG recommends not doing the EMH mornings, in '93 it advised doing them, I have also seen negative comments about the EMH evenings on the boards but I the UG site says to do them. :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I decided to wait and ordered a used one from Amazon for $4 something. She promised it was in very good condition with only a few notes in the margins..we will see. (they mayevenn be interesting!) The $3 + shipping charge will still be worth it, as the closest book store is about 15 miles round trip for me....and while I was at it I got 2 of the suggested reads about WDW, I can't even remember what they are....waiting for my books very patiently....
:bored:

I was at Borders this last weekend, and HAD to get it. I have 2002 and 2004. DH thinks I'm crazy, but I'm in serious obsession mode as we're in the final stretch before our trip this month. :)

I bought the 2005 UG in August, not realizing the 2006 was about to come out. We leave next week, I am just about done reading the '05 cover to cover. Should I buy the '06 for plane reading. I do use their info compulsively, but is it worth it at this late date?

Also, has anyone used the planners on Touringplans.com. I spent quite a bit of time filling my itinerary out on it and I can't figure out how to print it. Anyone done this successfully?

I didn't notice much that was different between the 2004 and 2005 versions. I note from the website <www.touringplans.com> that all of the crowd data has been changed. If you look now, there are no longer any really uncrowded days.

Overstock.com has it for $12.58 + $1.40 shipping. Here's the link if anyone wants to order: Click
