Resort Thread Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE

Does anyone have previous dates of when the Christmas tree is up. Looking to see if I can line it up with a pre cruise stay.
I made this little list in order to see if there was a correspondence between when the tree went up and when Thanksgiving was that particular year. Good luck! It seems they have moved away from mid-November to the 20’s in the last few years.

Here are the previous dates the Christmas decor went up at The Lodge followed by the Thanksgiving date that year.

2018: 11/20 TG 11/22

2019: 11/19 TG 11/28

2020: 11/12 TG 11/26

2021: 11/11 TG 11/25

2022: 11/22 TG 11/24

2023: 11/21 TG 11/23

2024: Put up on the 20th overnight, woke up to it on 11/ 21, TG 11/28

Are you the type to spend time at the resort on your balcony or are you more focused on the Parks, and other activities and only would use the balcony for a short period at night?

Hi Dave . I would probably use for short periods

Then I would save the money, and spend it for other things at WDW. Just a reminder Standard view is now part of the Resort view category.

Do you think the construction of the villas, should put us off staying here in Aug this year? {not sure how close they are)

No the Cooper Creek (CCV) is not a major rebuild but a room refresh.

The Cooper Creek Villas are the south half of the WL. Think of the resort building as a large U shape where the main building is at the bottom of the U and two legs point out to Bay lake with rooms that extend all the way to the end of the 2 wings.

The CCV room work starts mid-May and is scheduled to be complete by September. There is an additional benefit, there will be fewer guests at the lodge during this work.

Thanks so much for your help Dave

It’s all lottery based - you just never know what position any hotel is gunna pull for that year…the only thing you can count on is that all WDW hotels and DVC resorts will be decorated by Thanksgiving.

How likely is it for Wilderness Lodge getting us checked into our room before 3:00? Do they usually run later than 3:00?

I don't think we've ever had to wait past 3pm for our room. But there are so many things that factor when the room will be ready that you just never know when it will be ready.

No it is all based on the room you were assigned about a week before your arrival. You can always stop by the Front desk and see if any rooms in your booking category are already available for check-in.

Dave
Okay thank you!

If you have a lot of requests or want a specific location, it can take longer. If you are willing to take whatever is ready first, it's more likely you will be able to check in prior to or at 3pm. If your room isn't ready when you arrive, stop at the front desk to see if anything is clean and inspected.

Hi everyone! I’m booked in a king water view room, and my boyfriend decided last night he’s ready for his first wdw world trip. To say I’m excited is an understatement. WL is one of my dream resorts, but now that he’s coming, there’s a concern I’m hoping someone can answer before I try reaching out to wdw. I’ve googled but I can’t quite tell what’s to believe on Google anymore.

Do the rooms, specifically in my category, have some sort of table that can be utilized as a desk. I stayed at AKL for the first time last fall during Milton, and know there was a table, but also Milton so maybe we should swap, but lose the view category.

YC is also an option and it looks like those rooms have actual desks, but again lose the view, it’s the most expensive, and the worst view, but Epcot walkable (my favorite park). I’d book the Swan but it’s honestly way more expensive than i expected and I kinda want him to experience a true Disney bubble. He definitely prefers quiet but the akl transport is maybe a small concern I have with him. I don’t know, sorry 🫣I’m just confused.

I’m hoping the hive mind can give me some advice. I know I can’t make everything perfect, but since he will have to work while we are there, this seems like a small consideration I can make for him for taking the time to join me.

Thank you so much! (We live somewhere where the PNW vibes are easy to find if that matters?)
