Been hearing chatter that they're moving to facial recognition-based entry so it seems like they have their eyes on getting people in quicker.

On our last trip at the end of February, they were using facial recognition only for passholders. The TM we talked to said that they could ask for our passes (so basically have it accessible), but I don't remember being asked for it at all - and we park hopped A LOT.

We were at UO/IOA this past May, July, and December. They were doing facial recognition on everyone. You scan your pass/ticket then face a camera similar to the ones at the airports.

I think Epic would probably use the same system.

Has anyone heard what the security set-up is going to be at Epic? Any chance that they have the walk-thru scanners like Disney? Also, I'm curious out how things will be handled at Helios.

It misses too much using fast walk through mode. It's slower then metal detectors using mode which gives similar security.

It does a poor job detecting knives.

I assume the company is working on upgrades

Someone alleged seeing EP being included for Epic after 4PM with the 3-park Annual Passes.

A new ad was seen on a Universal bus. Since the EP sign was next to a Mario Kart, this was interpreted as Epic to offer EP at the opening.

While I prefer UO's security also, I just spent several days at Disney, I held out my phone and portable charger in front of me for the scanners but had my iPad in my bag, multiple entries with park hopping/going to DS, never flagged! I was surprised the iPad didn't set anything off.

Luckily. Im a local so I never have a bag with me. I hold out my keys and phone and still set it off and get told to go to the bag check. It's so frustrating.

During our last trip, it seemed like every person we got behind would wait until they got to the front of the line to start taking their backpack off, their phone, wallet, etc. out of their pockets. One guy even had to give his kid a drink before taking the 5 seconds to walk through the metal detector. Oh, and don't get me started about people that clog up the line after the detector to get everything "just so" before moving on.

I suppose that both systems have their faults, but I was just hoping that Universal came up with something more innovative and seamless for Epic.

Like out in front. The way they tell you hold an umbrella or glass case for example.

Haven't done above shoulders.

There's some talk ap previews may not happen anymore. Apparently the wording about it has been removed from the website. It's believed because many of the rides are having major issues
