...So? That's why the Kong queue allowed the scare actor to pop up in different places. Plus the darkness helps. Presumably the Monsters queue will also be dark & spooky.
There's a difference between a spooky/scary vibe/environment and jump & scare. If they do it I dont think it'll last long. I think the negativereactions will outweigh the positive ones.

Although I don't think it will last long - I hope it does.
This is being touted as the scariest ride universal has ever done - having scare actors make sense.
They will have warnings posted at the entrance.
How it works logistically in a busy queue - not sure they will get enough value from it - but we will see.

Do you know the best way to find out about soft opening days? I live about 20 minutes away and would certainly be willing to show up last minute if I could get into EU for the soft opening.
Your guess is as good as mine.

If you have an AP then be sure to be signed up for emails.
There is also an AP Facebook group that get notifications - but I don't use Facebook so cant help with that.

Also just watching this forum may help as well - Im sure there will be a lot of discussion once they start having soft openings.

Does anyone else find it really odd that they would name an area DarkMoor when a Moor is the name of an African Muslim? It seems like a huge PR oversight and wondering how long it will take them to change it (and how much it will eventually cost them).

It is also a synonym for “heath”, which is my main association with it (I may have read ‘a secret garden’ multiple times in childhood!). It fits in very well with what Dark Universe is trying to convey, although that might be lost if others don’t have that meaning of moor as association.

has anyone seen any info on what time the tickets will go on sale on the 22nd and 24th?

In the DarkMoor Frankenstein Attraction, Jump scares are part of the scary theme. I will be avoiding it because I know NOT for ME. I will leave it to those who enjoy it. I do plan to explore the area around it and I do want to go to the burning windmill bar.

I was thinking they derived from DARTMOOR in the UK.
Yep, Mary Shelley was a Brit

But it's not fair to have to miss the ride because of it IMO.
Yeah, I have no problem with scary rides, Forbidden Journey with its spiders and dementors is fine. I will probably try to go through the line for Frankenstein when it is very crowded, safety in numbers.

Just the same word with different meanings. Moor in this case means a boggy area to me.

Going in the line when it's crowded seems like a good plan, though if it's anything like Halloween Horror Nights, the crowd won't matter too much.

But I do like that they are leaning on this because they do Halloween Horror Nights so well (best part of the UO product/experience imo, provided you get the EP), they might as well leverage all that knowledge! There will be a lot of other rides anyway

I agree that it had multiple meanings, I'm just surprised that they chose a word that also has racial connotation; and, is used by some Europeans as a negative racial terms against Northern Africans in Southern Italy. Many Sicilians are mocked and looked down upon for having darker skins because of the Moors. So, DarkMoor just seems like it could be taken in many ways by those visiting from around the world. Food for thought: The word that means "black" in Spanish would never be used as a title of land in a Universal or Disney park. Why would we use other words that do have negative racial histories and can be hurtful, when we can just avoid them altogether? Seems like the opposite of inclusion.

Yeah exactly - "Beware the moon lads, and stick to the roads. Stay off the moors."
Didn't using moor to mean a dark black and muddy bog start out as a racial reference for dark-skinned folks who were thought of as impure? It was meant as a slur and has been used for centuries.
