With all guests now being able to get Express Pass for Universal rides, is it really that advantageous to stay in a Universal resort hotel?

Personally..I think it's advantageous mainly for the FOTL access at the parks but this is only really needed during really busy times. Most of the time, you can get an EP for free or not even need one..depending on the crowds.

We are going June 10-11.

Do the hotel guests with FOTL access wait in the same line as those with Universal Express passes?

I think that express has been available for all guests for many years. They limit the amount they sell and limit the ones available from the express pass machine depending on how many hotel rooms are booked onsite. And yes, they all wait in the same express line.

They will be in the same line, but as phamton stated, they limit the number of passes that off-site guests have available to them. The free express machines will run out at busy times and they limit the number of express passes they sell. Also with your hotel FOTL you get to ride each ride many times a day with express. The express plus pass offers you only ONE express pass for each ride.

Thanks for your responses. Guess I will have to see if I can find some decent rates at the Universal hotels.

Difference is that you can only get on Express Pass at a time.
On-resort guests can show there key for any ride at any time for the Express line.

Good to know....does anyone have a favorite hotel -on-site-? We are hoping to spend two nights there.
