Unique Family Name Announcements

Off topic...cruise on another line, captain was from Greece. His last name started with S and ended with ogus. Every comedian had him as "Captain Michael Snuffleupogus." It was as good as the "brown ****ies." (now we'll see who was on THAT cruise!)

Well, that's nice. I quote Captain Tom and the censor screens it out! Oh well.

I so remember that!!!! We were in Rockin Bar D doing the mystery game when the Captain came on the loudspeaker...the whole place just started cracking up!!!

Usually I try to just scoot by without being introduced. If not, I definitely go for the laugh.
Unfortunately, sometimes if the announcer has a strong accent the pun gets lost.

Halloween on the Dream: "Holly Weiner"
Hawaii on the Wonder: "Hannah Lulu"
My default when I can't think of anything else at the moment: "Annie Manildew"

I'd been waiting for the perfect boarding scenario for this one and I finally had it on the Fantasy earlier this month when I was boarding with 2 other female friends. The announcement got a bit rushed, though, so the pun didn't get the laugh I was hoping for. We were: Anya Marx, Greta Sett, Ann Gogh

And my missed opportunity for my early Sept Canada cruise out of NYC:
(I was caught up gabbing with a guest I'd run into on previous cruises and didn't stop to think of a boarding name)
Brenda Morganstern (I think I'm more the Brenda than the Rhoda)

You could board separately. You and your DH go as The XX Family, then your mother and BF right behind you as First name and First name. DH and I were not married on our first cruise and we just used our first names. The only people who hear the announcements are you and the CMs in the atrium.

Sure, we *could*...but... I know it probably sounds silly, but they are so excited about going, and have asked SO many questions, that I've carefully kept a few little bits of magic secret. Things they'd never think to ask about...like the horn's tune, and the introductions. So it would seem a little strange to them for me to suggest walking in separately. I like some of the ideas I've seen here...:scratchin

our family's last name is the same as a certain well known entertainer named Justin. I'm not sure i want to be introduced as the Bieber family. we may get unwanted attention.
If I had that last name, I'd have them announce us as
"The Beiber--NO Not THAT Beiber--Family"

Well, if I make it another 75 days with this secret: the "Surprised with this cruise just last night" family! ....or something like that... got to think a bit on this one!

We sailed the Fantasy in April and they would absolutely not do it ... I even handed him a piece of paper with a cute little phrase on it and he whispered quickly that they were no longer allowed to do that. I was like HUH??? :(

We tried to be creative last year(we brought the in laws with us) and they messed it up :(

So we will just stick with our normal name....Smith :)

I remember Captain Tom's announcement about the sightings! It became a running joke the rest of the cruise.

This is disappointing. But I am still going to try.
