putting food on the table.
Hm, i don't know many boys age 10-18 that "put food on the table" maybe a couble of bucks for gas money.
For your information, scouting is all about respect, responsibility and leadership.
On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my Country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
Teaching this to boys, and helping them live up to it, will actually help them put food on the table.
A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
Your right....just a hobby
In order to attain eagle, and starting with tiger, a boy will complete thousands of individual requirements that make up rank and badges. They will spend hours and hours on service projects. They will spend nights and nights camping and fending for themselves. They will learn to take care of the environment, they will learn to fend for themselves and to help others. They will learn how to cook, clean, and save themselves. They will learn to save their father.
