Unfair :(

Completely understandable, and true but "unfair" is the only word I can think of in this situation.....

a lot of people here are upset (believe me, wasnt trying to make it sound like poor me boohoo) I just felt like letting off some steam and see if maybe I'm not alone in feeling this way.

All of this will change soon weather we like it or not. People who are saying that the resort guests have the right to get extra perks are correct. They do deserve it, but in this case, your incentive of FP+ and your ability to also pull FP- will take away from my experience as a park guest. In a small way yes, but we will miss some of our favorite rides because of it.

After going to WDW for over 30 years, I've NEVER used a Fastpass. We've always rode what we wanted. And it's not because I'm against FP, it's because I never wanted to bother with it (I'm lazy like that). So the thing about not riding what you want is kind of BS. We never were left wanting..

I have to LOL about voting with your wallet. If you don't go, a thousand other families will take your place.

Seriously? Crap rooms? you get what you pay for and a 100 dollar room in Disney is way higher quality than you would get for a 100 dollar room elsewhere.. for 300 you can get a nice family suite at art of animation that sleeps 6. I don't think you have a clue what you are talking about...

No I have a clue, I have more than a clue.

Uh, my 16 year old son won't even fit on the sofa bed or that garbage table bed at Art of Animation. We want real beds when we are on vacation. We vacation to get rid of everyday stress, kids included. For 2 nights at $300 at Disney's Art Of Animation, I can get a nice 3 bedroom house with a private pool for a week that is almost as close as some of Disney's own hotels.

As for staying on site perks, yep, people should get perks. But they shouldn't be AT THE EXPENSE of people that are paying the SAME EXACT PRICE for their park ticket as you are.

I'm the last one to defend FP+ simply based on the lack of information regarding the entire system, but the one thing I don't think people have any right to complain about is preferred treatment that on-site resort guests receive. Sorry, but that's life. Disney SHOULD offer better incentives to guests willing to shell out the money to stay on property.
I am staying on site and I don't get FP+ access. How sad is that? The system is not fair.

While I don't think the Disney rooms are "crap", I do think they are nothing better than a typical Best Western. Yep, there are big Disney icons stuck around the common areas and *maybe* a bigger pool, but that's the only improvements over a very budget property in any other city.

On our August 2013 vacation, we had a 1200 square foot GORGEOUS villa at Sheraton Vistana Resort for $120 per night, taxes included. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, full kitchen, in-room laundry facilities, screened in balcony, king bed in the master, jacuzzi tub. Granite countertops, ceramic tile, beautiful finishings throughout. A king bed in the master and two doubles in the second bedroom. 7 pools, a selection of hot tubs, onsite mini golf, basketball courts, volleyball courts. It was the same price as a room at POP, all 260? square feet of it.

Then you got yourself a good deal.. I'm showing rates at 220 a room a nite.. Good on you!

Again Life ain't far.. get over it.

But you can stay at a Sheraton Vistana type place anywhere in the world. If you are staying at the Polynesian, you can see the Magic Kingdom from your room.

Hmmmm.....yes, some rooms at the Poly will have a view of the MK. A nice touch. Doesn't negate that the room itself (and the furnishings) are anything but "deluxe". I guarantee you that our SVR villa had higher quality finishings than the Poly room with a MK view, which is what I was addressing below:

100 dollar room in Disney is way higher quality than you would get for a 100 dollar room elsewhere.

My point is, plenty of people are happy to stay on Disney property. It is beautiful, and unique. Why would I want to stay in a hotel suite that I could find in Connecticut? I wouldn't.

Plus the onsite perks.. like FP+ hehehehe

I'm sorry for yet another Fastpass+ rant, however I leave this week to disney world and I'm not feeling this trip :(

We have a timeshare so staying off site, but let me get this straight:

Current resort guests are able to make Fastpass+ reservations AND pull regular fastpasses at the parks?

If so then no wonder all the fastpasses are gone so early! How unfair to the rest of us!!!!

I swear if I'd known about this before I purchased my park tickets I would have skipped Disney all together this year.

*sign* I will try to make the best of it, any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for listening.

I believe Disney tickets do not expire until you use them. Can you just save the tickets for another trip and skip Disney this time?

*Sorry if this was mentioned before, I did not read every post.

I cant read your tone, so I will assume that this wasn't said with malice... I'm being nice so I expect the same courtesy in return.

Have you gone recently? Maybe this time your experience with non-fastpass use will be different. I've gone in the past and always do rope drop, and it always worked out great, so I never needed FP, but towards the afternoon, I've needed to use 2 FP's at least.

No it wasnt mentioned, but I feel like it might be too late for that. I'm just gonna have to suck it up! LOL

We shall see.....

Thanks though!

maybe then they should have rooms other than crap motel quality rooms with Disney decor for $100 a night. I CAN'T stay in a crap Disney motel room because I have 2 teens, a boy and a girl that aren't sharing a bed. And almost every Disney room gives you 2 beds unless of course you would like to pay $500 a night for a slightly less crap room that is bigger. And no, I'm not paying $100 for a room in those garbage value resorts so why would I get TWO of them EVERYTHING about staying on Disney's property stinks, from room size, to transportation to expense to eat.
There are many choices of rooms to meet a variety of needs. We usually book a one bedroom villa with a full kitchen, two bathrooms and space to sleep five - King bed, pull out sofa and chair. If you want on site perks you have to pay for an on site room. We go to Hershey park every couple years. I don't complain that I'm not getting access to their extra hours, free parking etc that the on site guests have. If I want it, I pay for it

The only time I have stayed on Disney's property and felt that I got value for my money(and was worth "the Magic" that everyone talks about) is when we stayed at Fort Wilderness in a cabin and that was some 20 years ago when they were not overpriced. And to me, Disney has lost it's "Magical" luster onsite. I have't found anything "Magical" about staying onsite for about 10-15 years. If they are trying to get me back onsite with FPs and penalizing me for staying offsite. That's okay, Disney won't get less of my money, they'll get NONE of it. I'll go to Universal and Sea World(which my family enjoys more now) or spend our vacation dollars from our annual Orlando trip elsewhere around the Country/World.

And some of us have different opinions. We wonder "why would we want to pay such a huge premium to stay in a lesser quality room"? We wouldn't.

Both opinions are fine to have :thumbsup2 .

no no malice at all just explaining that it's not necessary to rely on FP to get in all the attractions you want.
I go every year thanksgiving week. been going thanksgiving week for 13 years.

Absolutely. But if you choose to stay offsite, there is nothing unfair about Disney rewarding those of us who do. Sorry.
