You can't expect that from him, he's ignorant and rude. You can tell by the tone of his repetitive reply posts.
Hello pot from the kettle!

Absolutely. But if you choose to stay offsite, there is nothing unfair about Disney rewarding those of us who do. Sorry.
. I was discussing the quality of a Disney room vs. the quality of a similarly-priced offsite room in Orlando. There are many choices of rooms to meet a variety of needs. We usually book a one bedroom villa with a full kitchen, two bathrooms and space to sleep five - King bed, pull out sofa and chair. If you want on site perks you have to pay for an on site room. We go to Hershey park every couple years. I don't complain that I'm not getting access to their extra hours, free parking etc that the on site guests have. If I want it, I pay for it
While I don't think the Disney rooms are "crap", I do think they are nothing better than a typical Best Western. Yep, there are big Disney icons stuck around the common areas and *maybe* a bigger pool, but that's the only improvements over a very budget property in any other city.
On our August 2013 vacation, we had a 1200 square foot GORGEOUS villa at Sheraton Vistana Resort for $120 per night, taxes included. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, full kitchen, in-room laundry facilities, screened in balcony, king bed in the master, jacuzzi tub. Granite countertops, ceramic tile, beautiful finishings throughout. A king bed in the master and two doubles in the second bedroom. 7 pools, a selection of hot tubs, onsite mini golf, basketball courts, volleyball courts. It was the same price as a room at POP, all 260? square feet of it.
I'm the last one to defend FP+ simply based on the lack of information regarding the entire system, but the one thing I don't think people have any right to complain about is preferred treatment that on-site resort guests receive. Sorry, but that's life. Disney SHOULD offer better incentives to guests willing to shell out the money to stay on property.
I have to LOL about voting with your wallet. If you don't go, a thousand other families will take your place.
After going to WDW for over 30 years, I've NEVER used a Fastpass. We've always rode what we wanted. And it's not because I'm against FP, it's because I never wanted to bother with it (I'm lazy like that). So the thing about not riding what you want is kind of BS. We never were left wanting..

No I have a clue, I have more than a clue.
Uh, my 16 year old son won't even fit on the sofa bed or that garbage table bed at Art of Animation. We want real beds when we are on vacation. We vacation to get rid of everyday stress, kids included. For 2 nights at $300 at Disney's Art Of Animation, I can get a nice 3 bedroom house with a private pool for a week that is almost as close as some of Disney's own hotels.
As for staying on site perks, yep, people should get perks. But they shouldn't be AT THE EXPENSE of people that are paying the SAME EXACT PRICE for their park ticket as you are.
The only time I have stayed on Disney's property and felt that I got value for my money(and was worth "the Magic" that everyone talks about) is when we stayed at Fort Wilderness in a cabin and that was some 20 years ago when they were not overpriced. And to me, Disney has lost it's "Magical" luster onsite. I have't found anything "Magical" about staying onsite for about 10-15 years. If they are trying to get me back onsite with FPs and penalizing me for staying offsite. That's okay, Disney won't get less of my money, they'll get NONE of it. I'll go to Universal and Sea World(which my family enjoys more now) or spend our vacation dollars from our annual Orlando trip elsewhere around the Country/World.
maybe then they should have rooms other than crap motel quality rooms with Disney decor for $100 a night. I CAN'T stay in a crap Disney motel room because I have 2 teens, a boy and a girl that aren't sharing a bed. And almost every Disney room gives you 2 beds unless of course you would like to pay $500 a night for a slightly less crap room that is bigger. And no, I'm not paying $100 for a room in those garbage value resorts so why would I get TWO of them
EVERYTHING about staying on Disney's property stinks, from room size, to transportation to expense to eat.

who exactly are you trying to convince
sheesh....stay offsite...be happy...give it a rest.

it's all in the eye of the beholder.
I don't want a kitchen because I don't want to cook.
Laundry on vacation? No thank you. If I need it in a pinch, I'll pay for laundry service (never have though).
Jacuzzi tub? Disgusting...no way I am bathing in a hotel room.
Granite countertops are annoyingly hard. Can't stand em.
King beds are nice I suppose....but not really something I care about at all. A queen is fine.
I don't see 7 pools being any better than 2. we don't play much mini-golf or hoops while at Disney and if we did want mini-golf I'd much rather play the Disney themed courses.
. It honestly baffles me. it's all in the eye of the beholder.

Disney doesn't care if they get your money or not. You're not as important as you think you are. Get off your high horse.

I have never understood the "if there's a kitchen, I *must* cook" philosophy. It honestly baffles me.
The rooms do not come with any requirement to prepare meals. We didn't cook in the kitchen even once on our last stay. But that huge fridge was super nice to have for cold drinks in the August heat.
Arguing that in-room laundry, high-quality finishings, large beds, and jacuzzi tubs are detriments vs. enhancements is pointless. I am not disagreeing that appreciation of such luxuries are in the eye of the beholder. They absolutely are, and I have no problem with someone who chooses to stay in a Disney resort. If that's for you and your family, no problem at all. But I know I speak for many folks who say that limited, basic amenities in a tiny room is not for everyone.
Exactly. Plus...I don't want to be a slave to the hotel shuttle services and I don't want to rent a car....
