I just had a wonderful experience during a really bad time.
On Sunday I went to the hospital to see my father who was scheduled to have bipass surgery on Monday. My dh and I had to drive for about 6 hours to get there and we had our three small children with us.
After visiting him prior to the operation we were told we could not see him again until the following Tuesday, so we took the kids to find a hotel. On a whim I called and got a same day reservation to the All Star Movies which is about an hour from the hospital. We spent the evening at Downtown Disney and later watched the castle and the water parade from the California Grill. It was breathtaking!
My dh later told me he had extended our stay another night and brought tickets to the Animal Kingdom (the only park we had yet to ever get to) for Monday. We spent the day there and called from the cell phone about 6 times to find out dad's progress throught the day. I would have been a basket case if I did not have something to keep my mind off the operation.
After I found out he came through it well, we went to the AKL and went to the lounge for a snack and sat around the fire pit. It was so wonderful to be surrounded by caring and understanding CM's during such a hard time for my family.
We had been holding reservations for March 14-17 (just 2 1/2 weeks!) for a while and when we "discovered" the AKL we switched our reservations right there on the spot. It is a beautiful resort and I am so glad we were able to spend a few hours there enjoying the scenery and atmosphere. Now I can really look forward to a return in a couple weeks to a great resort location and visit my dad again too.
I know this is a long post, but the CM's at the AKL and the All Star Movies were so wonderful to us I just had to tell someone.
