ST. THOMAS

Robin decides to do a little swimming in St Thomas!

It was in this shop we got a very cool picture of some storms..wasnt it Nancy??lolololol

after a fun morning of shopping in St Thomas with Chuck and Nancy were headed back to the ship for lunch and some "sun soaking". and babechasing in the hotub.

It was around this time (when no one was around) that Robin decided to take up "pole dancing" on deck 10.

Later that afternoon as the ship was preparing to leave port,word spread that there were a few people who hadnt made it back yet and many folks began gathering to watch the drama unfold.

Heres a couple of videos as we watched with the others. We can only imagine the sheer helplessness of those poor folks as the ship was right there, but they'd missed it.

Now while we did feel sorry for those folks, at the same time, they, like everyone else should know the rules and at all costs make sure you're back in time. I realize things can and do go wrong and i guess thats one reason we've never taken anything but the Disney approved excursions because we know at least then the ship wont leave till you're onboard.
I wonder if trip insurance covers that? HMM..may have to buy that next cruise right Robin?

So as we walked away from all the drama that had unfolded..Robin mentioned to Nancy, Chuck and myself..."Oh well..TOO BAD ,SO SAD!".
They must not know Robin as well as i do because they looked shocked that sweet little Robin would say something like that.
(She plays all shy and innocent but really she's a troublemaker and i'm the innocent one)

So after the "sailaway from St Thomas incident" as it came to be known ...we ran into Pierre and asked him what would become of those people who were left behind and he explained that Disney and the local authorities would make sure they'd get a flight back to the US..at their own expense.

On to dinner!
The last few evenings of the cruise Putu was gettting pretty used to my "unique" eating habits and even offered to cut my steak for me.

Robin would try the Grouper tonight but still no Gnocchi for Nancy..We were running out of days!
After dinner we actually went to Rockin Bar D for a little while to hang out and didnt get to bed till 1 AM...We swore we'd try and stay away from RBD this cruise because "nothing good ever happens there!" (see previous trip reports.)

One of these cruises we're going to make it onto that Match Your Mate show in RBD..I think we'd have a lot of fun with it and maybe win a prize! Plus, Robin can be very entertaining.

THURSDAY...Day at Sea

A very lazy day at sea. we were up at 5:30 (who knows why??), then after Topsiders Robin actually decided to start to organize the luggage a little and get some of that annoying chore out of the way early.

We basically just ate, sunbathed, slept and shopped our way thru this day completely. But i guess thats what vacations are supposed to be eh?

Putu did manage to get Nancy an order of Gnocchi for dinner this night and if i'm not mistaken she loved it..however that would set the stage for Friday nights "Gnocchi Fiasco".
Putu was proud of himself for one night.

The girls did some Country Line dancing in RBD later.

A very lazy day at sea. we were up at 5:30 (who knows why??), then after Topsiders Robin actually decided to start to organize the luggage a little and get some of that annoying chore out of the way early.

We basically just ate, sunbathed, slept and shopped our way thru this day completely. But i guess thats what vacations are supposed to be eh?

I still can't get myself to purchase that picture over the phone with the owner. Just something about handing over my credit card info to him over the phone doesn't sit right with me. At least when I'm there, I make sure I scratch out most of the card number if it's printed out on the receipt.

I DO regret not picking it up when we were there though.

This is why I am completely terrified about doing a non-Disney excursion.

Yeah, I know I can get a taxi myself cheaper to Megan's Bay, yada yada yada. But if there is some sort of unexpected taxi/traffic disaster I would have to explain to my kids why Mickey is leaving without them. No thanks. I'd rather pay the extra few bucks and NEVER have that conversation happen. EVER.

We are great! Megan and Jose are married and expecting a baby in Sept. This will be our 2nd grandchild and we are loving it. Cruising with out all of you all is not the same. I am up for planning for 2014. You can never have too many vacations booked.

CASTAWAY CAY

What can you say about Castaway Cay? I guess its best said in pictures so i'll throw a bunch up. We really learned to appreciate the Island even more since our first 2 cruises. On our first cruise in 2001 it was too windy to dock the ship so we just circled the island all day.
On our 2002 cruise we got on the island for a few hrs but some really bad storms came thru early on and they evacuated us all back to the ship..
But ever since then we've had great experiences on Castaway Cay.

We got the all ashore around 9:15 and had a perfect day! There was plenty of sunshine and just enough clouds off and on to keep us from getting fried.

The funniest thing about taking these pictures from that bar on the pier was there was a guy trying desperately to steal this sign/mat from under a closed window of the bar..evidently he didnt know i was standing there because he was just tugging away at this thing till it came free. then he rolled it up and just as he was about to put it in his beach bag he noticed i'd been standing there and real casual like, set it back down on the table.
I'm sure to this day he's telling everyone about the free souvenir he almost had.
So i couldnt help but snap a picture of it.
