Ugly Bug Ball

Wasn't sure where to post this, thought I'd try here.
My daughter got a copy of a cd with Disney classic songs. One is called the Ugly Bug Ball. Anyone know what movie this comes from? She keeps asking me and it is driving me nuts!!! Thanks.

According to Google, its from "Summer Magic"; a film neither me nor my DW has ever heard of. Love the song - my DN used to call it "Ugly Butt Ball"!

A great Disney classic with Hayley Mills and, I believe, Burl Ives. It's one of our favorites (along with Moonspinners!!)

It is from "Summer Magic" and Burl Ives sings it!!! The movie was released in 1963 and features Haley Mills. My family loves this movie!!!

Oooo! Summer Magic has one of my favorite Disney songs of all time -- "On the Front Porch" by Burl Ives is such a nostalgic visual song. Anyone else remember that one? We finally found the movie in the classic offerings by Disney a few years ago. Too bad the movie was somewhat forgettable, but some of the most unique music donwritten by the Sherman's.

OOOHhhh... we love that song... DD has a Disney tape about bugs... not sure where it came from but it appeared in my car one day. It's one of our favorite tapes to put in while on a long trip... we turn the volume up and sing and dance silly...

If you have ever been on I-35 in Iowa and seen a crazy mom and 5 year old dancing silly that was us on one of our numerous trips to Des Moines!

You know, we watched that movie on the Hallmark Channel over our Christmas break. It was cute.
Burl Ives sang Ugly Bug Ball. My 15 yo DS loved that song when it was on his Disney Sing-a-long video when he was in preschool. He always used to say that the snowman from Rudolph also sang about bugs. lol.

Do they play this song at AK "It's tough to be a bug"? I seem to remember hearing it. Although, we saw a bug Imax movie and I'm not sure which one played the song. My dd has a cd with Disney songs and she loves the Ugly Bug Ball. We have to dance when it comes on!!!

Thank you so much for this thread! I remember seeing that movie when I was very, very young and have always remembered "gotta crawl, gotta crawl, to the Ugly Bug Ball" - that's the only part I can remember! I have always wondered what movie it was in. Now can someone tell me where "In the Golden Afternoon" is from? I remember bits and pieces of that one, too. The things you learn on The Dis!
