So frustrating, I am always super careful when I order things online. Read all the fine print, don't click extras, don't sign up for anything...
I went to one of those sites where you buy a 30 day supply for shipping cost only, then if you like it you subscribe. It had a box to click for a subscription and I un-clicked it. Great, so this should be easy. While finishing the transaction you have to click on a "finalize transaction" button- which automatically adds another product. I got the confirmation email and immediately responded that I did not order the second product. Response? They can't cancel it but since I didn't sign up for a subscription I can just keep it for free. Ok, all set, right? Here we are two weeks later and they just charged my credit card $150! Minor detail there, when I bought it I wasn't signing up for a subscription, but by not calling and telling them I did not want to sign up for a subscription in the future, they assumed I NOW wanted to sign up for a subscription and charged me for the original product. Nowhere in the purchasing process does it tell you this. I even read the terms and conditions and the link from inside the purchase process is NOT the same as the main one on the website. They informed me when I just called that next week I will receive more charges and start getting more product monthly... for BOTH items.
Talk about twisting words.
After nearly an hour on the phone they are refunding the one I never ordered in the first place and giving me "a 35% rebate on the first product." So I agreed to a $5 charge, and long story short if I only let them charge me another $50 they will go away and leave me alone.
I guess my main point was just reminding everybody not to buy stupid trial products online. It's an appetite suppressant I've taken before and $50 isn't too crazy a price for it, but the whole thing leaves me quite annoyed. I tried to dispute it with my credit card but technically I suspect this company has all their paperwork lined up to make it look like they are honest because that has to be a common issue for them.
