So frustrating, I am always super careful when I order things online. Read all the fine print, don't click extras, don't sign up for anything...
I went to one of those sites where you buy a 30 day supply for shipping cost only, then if you like it you subscribe. It had a box to click for a subscription and I un-clicked it. Great, so this should be easy. While finishing the transaction you have to click on a "finalize transaction" button- which automatically adds another product. I got the confirmation email and immediately responded that I did not order the second product. Response? They can't cancel it but since I didn't sign up for a subscription I can just keep it for free. Ok, all set, right? Here we are two weeks later and they just charged my credit card $150! Minor detail there, when I bought it I wasn't signing up for a subscription, but by not calling and telling them I did not want to sign up for a subscription in the future, they assumed I NOW wanted to sign up for a subscription and charged me for the original product. Nowhere in the purchasing process does it tell you this. I even read the terms and conditions and the link from inside the purchase process is NOT the same as the main one on the website. They informed me when I just called that next week I will receive more charges and start getting more product monthly... for BOTH items.

Talk about twisting words.
After nearly an hour on the phone they are refunding the one I never ordered in the first place and giving me "a 35% rebate on the first product." So I agreed to a $5 charge, and long story short if I only let them charge me another $50 they will go away and leave me alone.

I guess my main point was just reminding everybody not to buy stupid trial products online. It's an appetite suppressant I've taken before and $50 isn't too crazy a price for it, but the whole thing leaves me quite annoyed. I tried to dispute it with my credit card but technically I suspect this company has all their paperwork lined up to make it look like they are honest because that has to be a common issue for them.

Sorry about your hassles. Not fun I know from experience.

Sooo.. what is this appetite suppressant and how well did it work?!

I used synadrex, it worked really good, but never realized they signed me up for automatic payment every month. I had to call and get them to stop. I don't like that. I want to order only when I want it.

It's that garcinia cambogia- the ingredients just say plant fiber and magnesium so I'm not sure if it's even from that plant. I doubt it's worth much for most people but I need something filling some of the space before I try to eat. My stomach never seems to send a signal that I'm full. I can sit at a buffet and eat plate after plate of food, walk out the door and stop for dessert on the way to the car without even feeling like I should slow down. Any time I can have something that adds calorie free puff it usually slows me down.

Try Konjac root fiber. It's in powder form and a natural supplement.

Thank you for taking the time to explain this - I'm a pretty careful shopper too and would be really ticked had this happened to me. After reading about your experience, I'll watch for something like this in the future. Again, thank you for the PSA.

A friend several years ago ordered an acai berry supplement. She ended up with repeated charges to her card over a couple days. She had to call the bank and it was a big pain.

I had something similar happen many years ago, not a diet supplement but another supplement. I only agreed to something like $5 shipping to try the product.

They ended up saying I subscribed and charged my credit card, which I had not done (scam).

I called my credit card immediately and disputed the charge, and they handled it from there. I was refunded from Amex.

I would dispute anything over what you originally agreed to with your credit card ASAP.

Thank you for being willing to share this with us; I would be frustrated and upset too!

On a side note, I get Garcina Cambogia with Green Coffee extract and huge amounts of cellulose (I'm not entirely certain anything but the cellulose is doing anything, actually. . .) from Amazon, Target or Walmart for about $15 for 100 pills.

Called the credit card. The company organizes it into different charges with different company names (because that doesn't sound shady at all...) One of the names they are familiar with and they could credit back immediately as it's a well known scam. The other name is newer so they are crediting it but officially it's a temporary credit as they have to file a bunch of paperwork to make it official. He said it's likely but not completely certain it will become a final credit.
They were not the least bit surprised by the story as it seems to be a common thing.
