U 2 hot to trot, or walk, or ride rides or...?

Great update!

How sweet of you to give DH your luggage.... :rotfl: I would do the same thing!

Sanaa and animals.....I've never been there but I think you would not see any active animals as 11:30 a.m. in August in the south is HOT HOT HOT and the animals would likely be resting. Just my thoughts though!

Those ADR's sound great! DD will love it!

YEAH, I'm pretty sweet that way. :rotfl2: He knew something was up. :rotfl:

"HOT HOT HOT" is it really that hot. To compare around here in August it isn't unusual for it to get to be low to mid 90's. It rarely hits 100. But, we do get bouts of humidy. Are we nuts to go in August? I swore I would never go in August. We have done early & mid June as well as mid July. But, AUGUST...? Can you tell I am already nervous about this. We are not slim people I hope we are not making a mistake. This is where my PTR name comes from. I was planning on asking if it is too hot to enjoy in August. We are planning on hitting the parks early, and late. Avoiding the middle of the day as much as we can. Except for pools and water parks.
Thanks for the opinion on the lack of animals. I was rather thinking the same thing. I think I might cancel that one, and plan on eating at Beaches & Cream once we get over to the Boardwalk.

I of course haven't been in August but living in the south it is HOT in August. Maybe D~ would be better at answering that. I know we would personally not go in August because of the heat but maybe we are wimps.... :rotfl2: I say go for it! DD only turns 10 once!

DH & I spoke about it again. If we cancel this trip, it won't be because of the time of year. However, I am still nervous. See, I am according to my Dr. about 30lbs over weight. I would love to loose 50. And I have to use a manual wheelchair when in WDW, which of course means someone must push me at times. DH insists on pushing me constantly. He himself is overweight... I worry about the stress on his heart pushing me up the monorail ramp and thins like that. I walk it whenever I can...aka it's not to confusing an atmosphere, and I can stay on my feet. :) So, I told him last night, I am going to loose weight before we go in August. AND he is too.
:yay: That icon is not yay it is he & I doing jumping jacks to loose weight. Although, I can't actually do them anymore. :rolleyes1
I will have to keep you all informed on how this new diet is going too. Of course I had ice cream for lunch today...soo.......
Bridget, Don't you think I'm extra sweet for including my DH in loosing weight too? I told him its' because I looooooooooooooovvvvvvvvvvve him. :flower3:

now, where did I leave off on the PTR?

oh yeah, ...
Anyone been to Sanaa? I am wondering if we will see any animals at 11:30am in late August. Any thoughts? Honestly, it is the main reason for eating there. The date & time are also very "since......."

That is about check out time at AKV. That’s right, we will be checking out of AKV on the 23rd. 3 days early. Why, you might ask? Because I got the last 3 nights at BWV!!!
I had been logging onto dvcmember website looking to see if concierge or bcv opened up, when I noticed the last 3 nights of our trip were available at BWV! It would mean using more points. Actually, it would mean using ALL the remainder of our points AND renting 2 points. I ask DH who said yes. He had been thinking that if we don’t like AKV, we are stuck there. This is a nice option. We all liked it the last trip. For DD is it 2nd only to BLT. I especially enjoy that it is walking distance to Epcot & a quick boat ride to DHS. So, that’s what we did. I called and changed our last 3 nights to BWV studio garden/pool view. That’s the view we had last time so I am very pleased.

Now, I am thinking perhaps I will cancel Sanaa. Bridget, I think you may be right regarding the lack of animals that time of day in August. DH thinks maybe Disney feeds them periodically during the day to keep them roaming, but I'm not convinced of that.
So, if we cancel Sanaa our alternate plan would be to eat lunch at Beaches & Cream when we get over to the BW. I mean, we need to go check out our room anyway. So, a late lunch (since I am trying to avoid the heat of the day in the parks), then to our room. I even suggested perhaps a breakfast at Sanaa, then late lunch at B&C, head over to the parks for evening, then just a light dinner if we get hungry.

DD#1 mentioned to us that she very much would like to join in on the surprise for her little sister. She & her DDBF are trying to see if they can afford to book a trip too. They would not share a room, so she asked if she could stay with us. I told her that may not be possible as DS had already mentioned he may like to join us. The room won’t accommodate 5 adults. I suggested she speak with DS & see if he would like to share a room with her. So, it may be that there will not be “just the 3” for this trip after all. Both adult children know we are not paying for their trips. (unless of course we can…but they don’t know that ). We will however have issues with meals now. I told them both to tell me as soon as they can,, and I will see if we can either add whoever would want to join us for each meal, or see if we can get ADR’s for all of us elsewhere. The one they know I won’t compromise on is giving up my Chef Mickeys early morning ressie. And we will have to have somewhere special for DD’s birthday night.
It is not by any means set in stone that either of them will be able to join us. They both will be graduating college by Aug. Hopefully, will have full time jobs, so it may not be a possibility for them to miss the time from work.

I almost blew the surprise last night. DD wanted me to have an ice cream float with her. I that wasn’t something I wanted because I want to lose weight. She began to encourage me to have a float with her. I ALMOST said, no honey I want to be in better shape when we go to Disney in August. YIKES :scared1: Instead I said, no honey I want to be in better shape when we go spring clothes. She kinda looked at me weird. However the good thing about having a med condition that affects the brain at times… it is not unusual for me to say something that doesn’t make sense. We both laughed a little and the moment was over. WHEW! That was a close one. I don’t know how long I can keep this going. I may have to stop talking in front of her. YEAH right, me stop talking…hahaha
No big update on the actual trip. I did buy DD some cute clothes. We got a her a great shirt at Target. I think it is very appropriate with us staying at AKV. I am going to cut the sleeves when weather gets nicer. I think otherwise it will be pretty warm.
IMG_9957.jpg

In the meantime I keep checking the airline prices. I am hoping the older kids will decide quickly if they are going to join us or not. I would like to book all the flights together if possible.
Well, that is about all the updates for now.

Hi--I followed you over from my trip report to see how your August plans were doing!

We ate at Sanaa for dinner last trip(DH and I) and we really didn't care for the food, except for the breads-- but the animal interaction was fantastic! We're staying at Kidani in May-- DH, me, son, DIL and 2 grandkids because DGD age 8 is an animal nut. I'm not terribly enthused because I'm really not that into animals but we're so glad to be going with the kids that anything will be fun.

Can you not use a scooter at Disney because of medical issues? Then DH wouldn't have to push you. Or HE can get a scooter and attach a rope and tow you lol.

Wow--triplets! No wonder you waited 10 years to have another one-- are you a nurse? So few people outside of the medical world use the term singleton! I worked for years as an IVF nurse so it tickled my funny bone to see it worded like that!

Thanks for joining!:cool1:
I took a look at the menu at Sanaa, I figure it won't be our favorite meal either. Still undecided whether to cancel or change to a different day/time. the animals would be the high point to DD, but not sure if any of us would love the food.

2 notes about 2 of you comments: 1) We didn't exactly "wait" 10 year. and connected to that is... 2) going to WDW with young children is so heart warming. We went down for our 20th anniversary. Our kids were 11. I commented on the wee little ones toddling around & asked DH "don't you miss that age" to which he replied "I'll wait for grand kids". I smiled & agreed. Ah...apparently God only heard the first part. Youngest born 41 weeks later...and she was 6 days late. :confused3
Yup triplets and a singleton. that's how we roll. :rotfl: I often say all 4 of my children are surprise miracles!
No, I'm not a nurse. When they were young we learned the word "singleton" quickly. The triplets knew it by the time they were in preschool. "Mommy, most of the kids are singletons, but there are 2 twins". Okay then. By highschool they called themselves "super twins" (there was another set of triplets in there graduating class of apprx. 160), now in college when they introduce each other it is ...this is my twin. Funny how it has changed. They say it is too much to explain. Everyone always has a million questions when they find out. Sometimes, they just want to get to class, or finish their object at hand, rather than spend 10-15mins talking about what it is like to be a triplet. People don't ask as many questions apparently about twins. :confused3

No form of transportation I have to steer. I have chronic migraine related vertigo. If I was steering you would really see the disboards light up from a crazy scooter/ECV driver! And trust me having DH drive (even without the tow) would not be much better. haha

Thanks again for joining!

I have a little update.
They are a go. :cool1: DD has told me DDBF has confirmed with his work he can have the dates off. He has offered to pay for her pass into the parks as his birthday gift to her. She will need to pay for the airfare & food. She can stay with us, since it appears DS will not be traveling with us, as he is seriously considering a year of service with a local charity after his college graduation. :offtopic: he just got off an alternative spring break doing work for this charity. He has found it very fulfilling. Of course he was in AZ :beach: so the nice weather may have played a part. ;)
On the chance he changes his mind he & DD will have to share the expense of a hotel room. Fair is fair.
After DD told me the news I asked which meals she & DDBF would be joining us for. I will see if it is possible to add them to our current ressies. She is worried if something comes up and they can’t go that it would ruin our ADR’s. So, we are waiting for DDBF to confirm with his family that they have no family obligations holding them on that front. However, being a planner… this worries me. The longer we wait the more chance there is of not getting them on our ADR’s. But, that is the price they may have to pay. ..or not.

Remember I said I was a planner... :scratchin

YOu have me totally cracking up... LOL at the scooter convo above.

I can't believe you almost blew the surprise - that would have been awful... But you rebounded perfectly. LOL

Had to comment on the luggage... I am a bag person (obviously, LOL) - and I love luggage too... but no Disney luggage for us. DH almost died when I showed up at home with fuscha luggage for our trip to Amsterdam a couple of years ago. LOL He'd bury me alive (in it) if I came home with Disney luggage. LOL

D~

Good morning!!! Just logging on to let you know that I heard Disney opened up some of the Be Our guest slots in May for people to book. You may get an August slot if you just want long enough!!

Glad DD and her BF are able to join ya'll. How sweet of your son to do charity work for a year after college. Well I'm late for work. Talk to ya later!

:rotfl2: I have a cold and this post about being buried in your Fuscha luggage made me laugh so hard I had a coughing fit. DD (home from school sick) came in to make sure I was okay.
I am lucky, DH is also a huge Disney fan. He actually got me hooked. He just isn't a luggage nut like I am. For him it is sunglasses. ... a little cheaper than luggage.

Morning. ah, you are ahead of the game, knowing about the opening slots... wait until you read the following update.
DS hasn't signed up for the charity work yet. But I am so proud he has found this to be rewarding. If only it was rewarding enough to pay his college loans I think he would jump on board immediately. Sorry you were running late. Be safe, no more accidents. ;)

I started this update last night. So if it says tonight, or something like that forgive me. I just touched it up & continued it today.

I was thinking of how badly DD(the birthday girl…DD#2) wants to have dinner at BoG. We have already had lunch there & will almost definitely be there again for lunch this trip. If DD is going to be happy, she is going to be happy just with the trip. Anything else will be beyond excited. So, regardless she will be happy. That is- if she is not miserable missing her “Bumpa” on her birthday. Having DD#2 fly down is definitely tipping the scales in favor of DD2 not being sad. Our 2 girls are very close. As with most parents I am going for ecstatic so, it would be nice if we could get those BoG ADR’s. I find myself logging on and trying. 1 or 2 x a day. Then suddenly it occurred to me. People are apt to cancel their ADR’s when they think of it, even if it is at night, rather than wait. But I don’t think most people would log on at night just to make an ADR. (does that logic make sense to anyone else? DH thought so.):confused3:confused3 So, on a long shot I logged on tonight. I clicked on BoG, our dates, dinner, and instead of 3 people I tried for 5. Guess what… it said a 9:10 time slot was open. AND even later than the Coral Reef ADR’s we had. Which is a good thing since our flight doesn’t land until after 6pm. After a slight screech of excitement I began keying in our information. Verified myself, DH, DD#2, then added DD#1 & DDBF, their names and confirmed they are in fact +18 years of age. It tells me I already have a reservation for that time frame. Do I want to cancel it? YES. It informs me it will not cancel that ressie until this ressie is confirmed. Even better. Then it wanted my cc info. I hate giving that over the internet, but … I have a cc with a tiny limit for just such situations. So I key in that info. That’s when it happened, I let out another screech, but not out of happiness this time. :sad2:The little fingers inside the Disney ADR computer typed back to me that they were unable to confirm my cc. WHAT? I look down & confirm all info. Yep, it’s all correct. Hmm.. maybe I have to actually click on the type of cc it is, instead of letting it auto fill the type. Okay, it works. I get so excited I run into DH and tell him. Silently clapping my hands together like a child. :cheer2::cheer2:Then I send a message to DD#1 and tell her I included her & DDBF. Next I log on to my email to ensure I received the confirmation. And there is …..nothing.:crazy2:

OH NO!! Have you ever received your confirmation from BOG or did it not save it? I would be soooo sad!!! I hope you get a BOG ADR soon!

thank you.

Now, on with the show...

Nothing. How can that be? Disney is great with sending confirmations almost before you finish making the reservation. So, I went to the Disney website that seems to know my agenda better than I do. It has no info on this BoG reservation. The good news is it didnt lie to me. It did in fact, not cancel my Coral Reef ressie. Now I am thinking&did I actually confirm the reservation? Or did I get so excited I never confirmed it. So, I log back on, and do it all over again. More good news, it saved all the guest information, so I dont have to rekey that. On to the cc info again. I key it in again. Meanwhile all I swear I can hear is a clock ticking in my head. Reminding me these are very sought after ADRs. It may well be taken by the time I straighten this out. This attempt I clicked specifically on the type of card I will be using. No problem, the card goes right through. I scan down the screen. Where could I have gone wrong. OH, I see, confirm I have read through all the ifs ands and buts of BoG restaurant ADRs. I confirm with a not so gentle click of my computer mouse. The little spiraling circle on my computer screen tells me to be patient. So, I wait. Then finally, it comes back and tells me& the server is down. WHAT!? Are you kidding me? So, I try again. That clock ticking louder and faster. The all powerful computer now tells me there is a time still available, but it is 5 mins later. Thats fine. All goes along nicely. I confirm I have read all I need to and I do in fact agree. Then I click on the done button. Low and behold, I get a confirmation number right then and there. Why I didnt look for this on the previous attempt can only be explained by a moment of sheer utopia that made me currently &.well an idiot. I double check my email. Ahh, thats better. Already, a confirmation from Disney. I am still a bit nervous so I go on the Disney site that has memorized all my information so well. It is there! YAY! It does still have my Coral Reef reservation. But, I can always cancel that myself tomorrow, if it is still there. I can sleep well ..& Dreaming of the gray stuff. I hear its delicious.

I am very sick of looking out the windows of my own home to see the snow. But, I have a feeling I won't mind looking out here & seeing "snow"

thanks! I am so excited...so so excited. DD is going to be so thrilled. I really hope when we ask her on her birthday where she wants to eat, that she says "Be Our Guest Restaurant". But, I have learned over the years, often what I think the kids are going to be thrilled with they are only eh about. The little nothings I do tend to be what they get out of their skin excited about. So, even though I am really excited, I am trying not to count on her excitement. I know if it isn't this, it will be something else. I just think it may be this. ::yes::
You are going to love this place. Atleast we did. I have to also remind myself though it was a preview, so it is sure to be more crowded, making it more hectic, which affects my vertigo issues. But, I can work around that if neccessary.

Now, whenever I post please remember it is usually written in pieces, sometimes days apart. So, it may start with saying things like today, but it may not be the actual day I post to this thread. sorry. Sometimes I try to adjust it, but that tends to make it more confusing. The following post I started yesterday morning, and finished today. So, it may sound off.

Due to a snow delay at DD’s college she arrived nearly 3 hours early for class. So, she & I messaged back and forth while I attempted to add she & DDBF to the ADR’s they would like to join us for. Those being…atleast at the moment, Chef Mickeys for breakfast, BoG which is, as you know already taken care of, and they are considering O’hana’s. Chef Mickeys was the one I was most worried about. It is the real beginning of vacation for me. I love when we get that early morning reservation, laugh, eat & wave those napkins, then head to the MK for rope drop. Okay, we don’t usually make rope drop, since I generally need to find a quiet space for my vertigo to resolve, but we are there shortly there after. I used the computer again to check on availability. I ran into the same issue as previously. I found the reservation I wanted, actually 10 mins earlier. (The earlier the better in my mind. Well for this ADR anyway.) I give all pertinent information, then I get silly little Donald Duck telling me the server is down. Been there done that. I try again, and get it. What was breakfast at 7:35 for 3 at Chef M’s is now breakfast for 5 at 7:25am. Sounds like a great plan. Since DD & BF haven't decided on Ohana’s I’ll wait to inquire on availability.
After taking my overdue rest, I now logged on to the computer again and began the almost daily search for reasonably priced airfare. Which I didn’t find. I am however getting sick of spending time seeing ticket prices increasing. I ask DH if he minds if I just book it. If the flights come down, I will request a credit (this is actually how I talked him into this trip. From credits we received on tickets from the Nov. ’12 trip. See, there is a method to my madness). He agrees. I pick our flights based on the fact that DD has school (most likely) in the morning the following day. Also that it is a 3/3 seat configuration. I picked a flight that was not the cheapest. The cheapest was $121, but it had a change of planes. NO WAY! We did that last trip and it was horrible. I am more than willing to pay the extra $22. To get a nonstop flight. Except… the $143 flight was a little earlier than I wanted. So, we got the next price up $165. (ouch), but we have a nice departure time and nonstop flight.
On a previous trip I had the need to contact JB by phone. I think it was due to my fear of missing a connecting flight. At that time I mentioned I had a wheelchair. This is when the JB member asked what seats we had. She suggested we sit in the front of the plane. But, since there was only “even more room” seating she inquired if we would be interested in that. She told me it would be free for me & 1 traveling companion. After a discussion on the other traveling companion I agreed. We have found it is much simpler. When I sit in the front of the plane it seems to make it easier. Not just for us, but for other passengers and the crew members. We get on & off the plane first and we are seated before anyone else is trying to squeeze past my large butt to get to their seats. On the flight down I was able to attain row 7. So, no need for the “even more room” seating. However when I went to book this flight, seats that close were not available. I had to call JB to make the reservation anyway as I was using credits. So, I asked the JB member to reserve the Even More room seats, as I have a medical condition that requires a wheelchair. I also verified gate check was still available for my manual wheelchair. He was very nice, even asking if I will need any further assistance in my traveling with JB. I expected to have to pay the $30 for the extra traveling companion, but that never was charged. The only issue we had in the past with the even more room seats is the very 1st row has no under the seat storage are, because, well, there is no seat in front of you to store things under. :rolleyes1 So, I requested not to have that row. DD loves to have her backpack at her feet. Then she can get her coloring book, or what not by herself. So bottom line is.... we have our airline tickets ... both ways!!!! :dance3:

DDBF drove her home from college tonight. They arrived home about 10pm. They were discussing whether they would want to join us for Aloha's or not. DDBF said "I'm good for whatever you want" Which is a wise statement for that boy. DD loves to be spoiled and he is very good at this task. ;) So, apparently it is DD who is undecided. She knows the consequences if she doesn't tell me in time there may not be availability. I will just popcorn:: then go into action if neccessary.

:offtopic: Not sure if I shared this on this thread or just Bridgets, but I have to share. I'm going to do the quickest version I can.
Friend of DH from highschool (if you check our ages you will realize THAT is a long time) we've stayed friends with. Lost his wife several years ago, has since remarried and at the age of 52 has a 2 year old daughter as well as 3 college age children. His new wives DM passed away ans DW is depressed so our friend decides he is going to take her & DD2 to WDW. He called us in Feb.and mentioned he will be calling us later for our opinion for planning this upcoming trip. I told him anytime we love talking Disney. Last Tuesday I went to my hairdresser which is his SIL and a travel agent. She was just hanging up with him. Having made arrangements for his WDW vacation. She was laughing almost madly. I now understand why. This vacation he wanted to take.... Easter week! As in THIS EASTER!! I am still amazed his DSIL was able to get him hotel ressies. split stay POR/YBC . He called yesterday for an unrelated reason. But, we of course got to talking Disney. He has no idea! I tried to explain it is going to be crowded, one of the most crowded weeks of the year. He said he understands. He isn't planning on going on any rides. I was :confused3 Then he explained further, he meant thrill rides. I explained to him some of the non thrilled rides get crazy lines too. Just be prepared. Also, dinner reservations may be very difficult, even impossible to get. I told him Peter Pan isn't unusual to get a 90 min line. He was in  This should be interesting. Poor guy has no clue. We are lending hiim some of our sing-a-longs for his DD to get used to the characters. I gave hiim a couple other tips too. I hope they have a nice time. Maybe just getting away will be nice for them.

I thought, I would list a run down of our plans so far.

DD & DDBF have decided to join us, they haven't bought their flights but we have added them to our ADR's

ADR's are as follows:

8/20 BoG
8/21 Chef Mickeys & 1900 Park Fare
8/22 O'hana dinner
8/23 Sanaa - breakfast (this is likely to be canceled)
8/24 Teppan Edo lunch

We have the TiW card. No dining plan.

We have no special plans other than BoG being pretty special as that will be DD#2's 10th bday.

We do want to get to Typhoon Lagoon this time.

So, that's the low down. Mostly I posted it to gather my thoughts on where to go from here. DH usually likes to rent a mini van. As of currently the prices are outrageous. We usually pay under $300 for 9 days. Now, they same minivan would cost us over $600 for 7 days. I don't think so...
We will see. We could do the buses but with the wheelchair, we find it more convenient to have our own vehicle.

:offtopic: I am annoyed, which is the only reason I am sharing this I am sure, but...

I have chronic vertigo, which best med professional opinion is it is caused by Migraine related issues. Although I seldom suffer a migraine, basically it is caused by the same gene, or whatever. Anyway, the room seldom "spins" any more, but it moves, and I am always aware of my balance. When it gets bad I need to be "grounded" ;) which basically means I need a point of reference for what is the ground, or the center of my body core, so I can properly balance. There are a few ways, one being some puts pressure on the mid-low part of my back. DH was doing that last night, and I placed my hand on my forehead as I felt a headache coming on. This is when something extremely strange happened. I felt my vertigo wash away....completely. :cheer2: That hasn't happened in 4-5 years! Obviously today I called my doctor to speak with her about this to see if there is acupressurist, neurologist, acupuncture, some type of brace that would keep pressure on these 2 points at the same time. Rather than just being able to talk to my doctor, the receptionist says the doc will want to see me as it has been 5 months since she has seen me. :confused3 The doctor was the one that said no need to come back until June. ah, I just want to pick her brain. Then if she wants to see me I will be more than happy to comply. Part of the issue is, I can't drive & DH only gets 1 day off per week. Which he spends helping me do all the things I can't do because of the vertigo. arghhh. Why can't doctors just talk to us anymore? I understand if I wanted medication, or I was asking to go see a specialist, or something like that. I just want to ask her what she thinks of this new experience. I was so excited when I called that maybe there might be a break through, but I ended up so aggravated. End of rant. Thanks for "listening".

I hope you made an appointment to see your doc, even if it's a hassle. Sounds like you're onto something maybe with the pressure points!
