What are the real (enforced) water shoe rules for the water parks at WDW? I have read on line that they make you take off your shoes before you go down the body slides. What about little ones who are playing in the kiddie section - can they leave their shoes on when they go down their mini slides?
What about swimming shoes... ones that are mean to stay on while you swim. If there are no buckles or anything that might scratch will they let you leave them on?

Looking for anyone who might know this rule, and would love to hear any stories about their issues with this.

Thanks! ;)

I know it is some saftey reason for taking your shoes off - not sure what
also if you have something around your neck - that has to come off too

We spent one day at TL and BB...
TL: we were asked to take water shoes off on one body slide, however, I noticed some people not doing it even though they were asked...we were able to leave them on everywhere else, even on crusher gusher n swimmin with the sharks. Would def recommend watershoes at this park! Hot pavement n lots of walking.

BB: we were never asked to take off our watershoes here, although, here I just wore my flip flops n took them off n held them on slides, but hubby wore his with no problems.

Hope that helps!

Anyone else have experience with the water parks and their shoe policy?
I am happy to hear that you could leave them on. It seems dangerous to take them off and hold them as you go down a slide... what if one flew out of your hand?

I have asked on body slides, and they want all shoes off. The safety reason is that if it catches on the side or flat of the slide, the friction could cause you to go off course. Dangerous. But on tube slides, including Crushin Gusher, they said fine to leave on. YMMV.

That makes sense!

I have always worn Teva sandals, and have never been asked to take them off. My husband and son wear the traditional water shoes, and they also have never been asked to take them off. We are headed back in about two weeks and hope that this holds true.

At TL we always have to take them off on the body slides next to Hummunga Cowabunga. There is a seating area of 3 rows of benches near the exit pool and you will see watershoes people have left there while they slide.
On the tube slides and family ride as well as Crush n Gusher and Shark Reef, you can wear them. You NEED them in the wave pool--the bottom is the texture of a popcorn ceiling.
I know I wear them at Blizzard Beach. On the Downhill Double Dipper I come down with such force they have been knocked off a few times in the exit pool.
To the post about not being allowed to have things around your neck, I always have one of those neck locker boxes and have never been asked to remove it.

I just got these...

100% waterproof and water shoes. I have no issue taking them off on slides. They are more for walking around and the wave pool. That floor is awful in there.

Same for me: shoes off on body slides (I was allowed to hold them up near my chest/midsection), but can leave them on tube rides.
