In two weeks we'll be at WDW... and I realize that I've done everything. I've done maps, touring plans, packing lists... you name it, I've done it.

And now I'm feeling this bored sense of loss. I'm just ready to go on the trip now. Pack the bags and pack the car and let's be off already! :goodvibes

But right now, I'm just so blah! I've done all that I can do after months and months of planning.

Can anyone think of something I might have missed that I'll still want to do before we go?

Have you made an autograph book yet? What about a little planning journal(which you can keep notes in and special memories)? Head over to the creative DISigns board, I'm sure you'll find a million more projects :)

Have you done welcome letters or packages for the kids? Dining invites? Activity books for the trip? Trip journals? Custom T-shirts? Make snacks for the parks with custom bag toppers? What about autograph books, Epcot passports, tip envelopes for the resort, Castmember compliment cards?
Take a visit to the Creative DISigns forum and you will probably find plenty to do!

Yep... done these...

done these... :rotfl: Except the compliment cards. What are those?

I told you, I'm done. It's pathetic!

I need to look around more

.Take care of the house - from mowing the lawns to watering plants to securing the house (timers, lighting, etc..)
.Organize your paperwork if your flying - flight info., parking info. car info.
. Lasst minute food shopping - like snacks for the trip, munchies for the room, any extra water bottles.
.Key medicines - sun block, prescriptions, bandaids, etc..:surfweb:

We just enjoy our pre-trip time watching the Disney Channel and old movies. I even have some old Disney sing along song music cds from when the kids were little that we listen to in the car in the weeks right before our trip. These tasks help get us mentally prepared for our trip.

You could fold some $5 bills into origami animals and leave them in your room as tips, or hand them out to bellmen/concierge/other tipped positions...

Want to do all of that for me? ;)

We leave in less than 3 weeks and I haven't done ANYTHING. I am too busy concentrating on what is going on with our youngest DD (18). Between her birthday party, choosing colleges, getting ready for her last dance recital :sad1:
high school graduation - I haven't had time to really think much about our trip. She graduates June 2nd and we leave June 8th.

I would like to invite you to my house to help! I'm working on shirts and packing this next week.

How about picking up some books from the library and reading non-Disney to pass the time

Wish I could say the same. We leave on June 7th, and I keep finding out stuff I need to do. Just this morning, I realized that I needed to budget money for those impulse things like balloons. Then, it was the autograph book because I know my daughter will want one. Now, I need to get the house ready (LOVE the idea of setting up the timers now. I usually wait until the last minute for that one and hope they work.)

Oh well, in a few weeks we'll be there.

I kind of feel that way already and our trip isn't for 5 more months...but I have done everything I can do until we get to the last few days prior to leaving when I start packing and buying last minute food items, etc.

Unless I change around our itinerary for what parks we are going to on what days or if I change around my ADR's then I have done everything I can do. I have read every single Disney guidebooks in print form and even an e-book. SO I am as informed as I can be for a first timer.

That feeling toward the end of the wait seems to be pretty common. I had it before our second trip (which was the first one I really planned out).

I've been doing it so long now, though, that most of the time I don't have anything to do. So I have to pace myself! I made the reservation at 11 months (we're DVC members), get a new Passporter at 10 months, make ADRs at 180 days, and then a month later get any special event tickets, etc. There's still a lot of time with nothing to do, but at least there's always something to look forward to and plan on.

- clean your house (it's always nice to come home to a clean house)
- pack and repack your bags a million times (that's what I'm doing)
- set your Tivo to tape America's Funniest Videos tomorrow night. It's an all Disney episode
- place a hold on your mail
- place a hold on your newspaper
- practice walking/break in your shoes

What do your kids like to do at Disney. I just remembered this morning that I needed to buy 2 mini M&M tube, so when they are empty, we fill them up, with 1 penney, 2 quarter, 1 penney, 2 quarter, 1 penney, 2 quaters and so on, so that way they will be prepared to do the pressed pennies they like to do, so we aren't all searching for quaters and don't have any. I think I am all ready but i keep remembering little things, afraid that I will forget something, especially since we are flying and won't have access to a car to run to the store for little things. We watch Disney movies, like Haunted Mansion so that when we go on the ride we can relate to and catch things that are seen in the movie. Watch Lion King and Bugs life, maybe Nemo if you are planning to watch the show at Disney. Go thru your maps and see what movies you could watch that might give your kids for insight to the rides, they can look for things that they might recognize from the movies.

From one crazy:upsidedow planner waiting on arrival day to another. ;)

Disclaimer - if you are not an obsessive planner you may be shocked and/or offended my the following ideas...just saying.

Have you made a list of snacks? I looked at all the menu's on Allears and made a list of snacks to try in each park. We are on the Dining Plan and I really want to make the most out of them - unique things...like The American Dream: frozen blue raspberry, vanilla ice cream & frozen strawberry at Epcot.

Have you read the Behind the Magic book? It has some really interesting things you may not ordinarily notice. I actually made some index cards with fun things to look for in the Parks (you were warned!) -Like finding the Ice Cream planter at Hollywood Studios...pulling the rope near Indiana Jones...fun little things. :)

The Hidden Mickey book is fun as well - Our kids loved looking for them and I loved being able to know where some of them were and give hints to where they might find them.:) As a bonus it helped pass the time in some lines. :thumbsup2

HTH!

Here are a few suggestions I haven't read yet:

Read your camera's owners manual - really get to know all the features and how to use them without having to think it through.

Set alerts on your mobil phone's calendar to remind you of scheduled fun (dining, shows, ect). Be sure to set the alert early enough to give you time to get there. Also, put the confirmation numbers on your phone.

Practice getting the family up and out the door for school/work each morning. Keep a log of how much time it really takes them to get ready.

Set your laptop on a counter so you have to stand to use it. Standing as much as you can now will stretch out your arches (it will hurt some) and eliminate you from going through that pain while at Disney.

Mimic your Disney days as much as possible. From getting up in the morning, to being busy all moring, taking a break, then busy through the evening, do all that you can. Even if your family can't do it too, that's okay. You'll be busier than your kids since you'll need to care for them before and after the parks. You'll have more fun if your used to the schedule.

Open and tryout everything you bought just for the trip. Eliminate surprises by testing everything out. For example, shorts that fit in the store but bunch badly when you walk, the new shirt that still has a security tag on it, a fanny pack with a zipper that breaks the 5th time you close it, toys that you didn't realize need batteries - or are incased in plastic and you need a machete to open it. You might even plan a Disney practice trip for next weekend. Have everyone dress up in clothes bought just for the trip and take along anything they plan to take into the parks. Then head out to the local zoo or someplace similar for the day. That evening discuss as a family what worked and what didn't.

Lastly - plan something fun for when you get home. Part of the pre-trip depression is knowing that all the planning and anticipation will be over soon and you won't have anything to look forward to. So, help that by planning something!

Hope this helps!

I'm guessing you're an adult.

I'm sure you're get over your doldrums once you're on your way.

Way better than a teen making everyone miserable because they don't
want to go on the "dreaded family trip". The horror.

I'm sure you'll get into the swing of things once you're on your way...
lucky you.. Have a good trip.
