No I don't believe I have heard that story, do tell!
When we first took the DDs (4 & 8 at the time) Le Cellier was a very hot ticket. Second only to CRT which was insanely hard to get.
How hard? Sure! Let's go down that road too!
You had to set your clock to the National Institute of Standards clock. That was step one.
Then, on your ADR date, you had to dial Disney's phone number... but not the last digit... just before 7am Eastern. At the stroke of the hour, you hit the last number and prayed. As soon as a CM answered, you would say "I need a table for Cindy's for xx people any time." as quickly as you could spit it out. (They only had breakfast then.)
The CM would quickly check (they knew the drill) and she said (in our case) "I have a table for four at Cindy's for xx o'clock. Do you want me to reserve it?"
"YES!"
<clicking sounds...> (You'd hear other CMs clicking away on their keyboards too.) "Okay, you are confirmed for blah, blah, blah.... Now that that's out of the way, Hello! How are you?"
Le Cellier wasn't quite that bad... but close. It
always booked up 180 days out.
So I had managed an ADR at Le Cellier (and CRT too.)
Since the DDs were little, I already knew that we would be doing mid-day breaks.
To save money and due to their age and stamina, I didn't get Hoppers. All ADRs were predicated by the parks we would be in that day.
The day of our Le Cellier ADR, the DDs told me that they didn't want to go back to Epcot that day, but instead wanted to go back to MK. I told them we'd be going to MK the next day and I had this really hard to get ADR.
They were sure.
So I reluctantly picked up the phone and cancelled Le Cellier. I replaced it with something in MK. (Don't remember what.)
Once that was all taken care of (took a few minutes) I set the phone down and...
The very second I put the phone down... the very
instant I did that...
Both girls say "We've changed our mind! We want to go see Figment one last time!"
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!
I grabbed the phone, quickly called back reservations.
"I just cancelled an ADR at Le Cellier a couple of seconds ago, is it still available?"
Nope.
I think we went back to Biergarten.
Good to know, cheddar cheese soup, ok to skip as it won't be life changing
Well, that was my opinion.
But then again, others
rave about it, so...
It was really awesome! Kayak Chicago is the group we were with. They do architectural tours ( the one we did) night time tours, fireworks tours, I'm sure their name is their web address. DH and I had a tandem and everyone else was in a single. None of us had any experience in a kayak before. So I'd say you can go into it with zero skills and be just fine. We were tired coming back but we were going up river and against the wind, but it was nothing we couldn't manage. So exertion level as anywhere from a 1 to a 4. Our guide was awesome, and everyone there was super friendly and professional. Highly recommend!
Sounds really cool.
I really think the next time I'm in Chi-town
(if it's warm) I'll have to do this.
I've actually done some canoeing in the past
and a few years ago took a kayaking course.
It's time for the single digit celebration!!!!!
