OK I know this is "bad" and I promise to make a decision in the next few days but...

Right now for one night in October I have two reservations. One for BCV and one for SSR.

The issue is it's a three night stay. I had all three nights at SSR but want BCV so... I found night one for BCV. Now I have them "double booked" Trying to decide if I dare keep waiting on that waitlist for BCV or just give up and accept it's not going to happen (I do like SSR and am fine staying there but for Food and Wine nothing beats Epcot location! I was hoping with a one bedroom it might be easier but at this point I am not sure it's going to happen. I do have the weekend at BCV)

So the question is will Disney automatically cancel one of my duplicates?

(hey at least I didn't triple book BWV was also an option for night one but.... LOL!)

I've done this before, and never had my reservations cancelled. Hey, if you have the points, it never hurts to book that BCV 1 bedroom and hope for some pixie dust. You will eventually give up one of the rooms for someone else to grab.

I was told that supposedly they CAN cancel one of them but had several overlapping days for several weeks and nothing was canceled by MS.

I have often had two different rooms under my name at the same time. It is usually in the situation where relatives are coming with, but I want both rooms in my name so I can do the check-in and often I do not add their names to one of the rooms until shortly before going. MS has never eliminated one of the ressies.

The system will let you book 2 reservations under the same name but the MS Advisors will call you on it if they find out.

Well if they call before I make up my mind that just forces the decision :)

I have a bunch of points in holding and actually even looked at booking my 3 nights at YC but i think there's some big convention since it's booked solid as are the Swan and Dolpin!

Why would they call you on it? Would it be just to confirm that it wasn't a mistake, or is it against the rules? Seems like if you wanted a room at two different places for the same night, you should be allowed to (provided you have enough points).

I have had two rooms in my name for the same 3 nights at the same resort in two different booking categories. I walked one of the reservations and even spoke directly with MS on the phone to adjust one of the reservations, and nothing was said. I did a resale and MA added the points and nothing happened. I am still trying to decide which room category we want to use, so I haven't canceled either. . . yet. I am kind of waiting for flights to come out before I cancel one of them, which should be in the next 2 weeks.

I think you are safe.:thumbsup2

A couple of weeks ago we had 2 rooms in our same names, I emailed location requests for the reservations, the email reply stated that they would not add the requests, that we had 2 rooms reserved in the same names and that they wanted me to call to discuss.

The reply wasn't due to lack of info on the requests because I was very specific. A week later I modified 1 of the reservations with the final names and contacted MS. When I asked about the 2 reservation issue I was told that you can't have the exact same names on more than one reservation for the same dates because you can't physically stay in 2 rooms at the same time. Policy is that the actual people staying in the room must be on the reservation.

I didn't argue the point.

Let's say I went alone. And I wanted to stay the night at AKV. Let's also say that I want to go swimming at BLT and wanted a room to change there for dinner at the California Grill. They wouldn't let me get it, even if I had enough points? I couldn't physically be at two places at once, but I could certainly use both rooms in one night. Oh, and I want you to know I'm not arguing with you, I understand you did not say it - I'm just questioning why MS wouldn't want you to do it - even if you had enough points and were able to book each reservation following the rules. Oh, and for the record, I wouldn't book two rooms to use myself over one night, but I wouldn't fault anyone for doing it.

I just looked at my two reservations, and I am the lead name on one and DW is the lead on the other. But both reservations have all three of our names listed. Maybe MS didn't say anything about it since the lead name for each room is different.:confused3

I am sure that a different MS Advisor would have a different answer. There may be other reasons that we aren't aware of, security, list of guests in case of an emergency, potential fraud?

Well this sheds a little light on an issue I'm having. We have a trip booked in October, but I want to add 1 day to the front of the trip and 2 days to the end of the trip and member services says there are no rooms available my dates...one of the 2 days is available if I want 1 studio. I'm thinking WOW I have never had so much trouble getting a room Halloween week before. Hopefully it's just because a bunch of people haven't yet decided which of their 2 or 3 reservations they want to keep. If I call the right day, there's going to be some rooms opening up! YAY!

Unfortunately mine won't help you (it was a one bedroom and the week before Halloween) but I did release the BCV today. I just don't think my waitlists are going to clear and I didn't want to move twice times (BCV, SSR, BCV ) This way I have three nights at SSR and two at BCV (

I have an overlapping reservation (that I intend to keep for various reasons) that MS is aware of and had no problem at all with. A single question if I wanted the to cancel one of the rooms and when I said no that was all the further it went.

I assume as long as the names aren't identical it would work?

For example I could have one booked under "John G Smith"
and I could book the other under "J Gordon Smith"

Personally I think it's back Karma to double book....As someone is screwed out of the room...especially at that time of the year. However, yes someone will get it....either through waitlist, or perfect timing stalking the website. However with that as my disclaimer :rotfl: I would say just book with 2 different names. When you make your final decision, just call MS to correct the names.
