4 times for me.

My husband is very understanding of my love for this movie. He even bought me the CD. Gotta love him.:hug: It's gotten a little crazy for me. I was doing laundry and found $10 and thought, ya I can go see the movie before the kids get out of school! I had never read the books before going to see the movie. A friend of mine asked if I wanted to go with a bunch of ladies. So
I went just for the fun of it and left totally in love. I bought all the books and read them in a week. Even my kids would say "Starting a new book mom? See ya tommorrow. We know where the frozen burritos are." :laughing:

BTW me name is Tami

Saw it twice :)

Hey did anyone else hear that Alice and Jasper, the actors, are indeed dating? Can any of my Twilighters confirm this?? :) They are SOO cute together!!!

I'd love to know this as well. Anyone? :confused3

Yup, sounds hauntingly familiar. My kids are thinking I'm more and more crazy by the day. "But mom, you didn't go this crazy over Pirates....what's different?" I just keep telling them I don't know, it's somethng addictive though. Poor boys, they'll never understand. :laughing: My DD8 gets it already. :lmao:

Welcome Tami!! Yeah, my hubby just rolls his eyes when I play the CD in the van.... :lmao:

Great Video Caribbean Princess!:lovestruc

I finished Midnight Sun this morning and really wish that she had written just one more chapter! At least then we would have known his version of the meadow scene....

Anyone else notice all the names that Stephanie Myers uses as cute references?

Quillotte = coyote
Bella Swan= Beautiful swan
Volturi= vultures
Forks= well, utensils for eating
Mrs. Cope= coping with her attraction to Edward!

I noticed a few more, but can't recall them now...maybe it's just my high school English coming back to me- always looking for symbolism!

This Friday will be my 3rd time seeing it.

What other movies have you all been this OCD over? Just curious. I have never wanted to see another movie multiple times in the movie theater except Grease when I was a kid. I made my grandmother take me to see it over and over!LOL

Hi Tami!
Welcome neighbor!! I work in Riverside so I could be sitting right next to you at the Plaza Edwards some day!! lol.

Here we go. Finally finished my video. Just a warning, the video contains actual footage from the movie, so if you don't want to be spoiled, don't watch. The music is the instrumental of Kissing You from Baz Luhrman's Romeo + Juliet.

OMG!!! THIS is the best one I have see thus far... and I have seen ALOT of them! First off, I LOVED this song when I first heard it from Romeo and Juliet.. the prettiest song!!!! For you to put it with this, BRILLIANT!!!! So, how do you make a video like this and where did you find the movie clips??

GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!:worship: :worship: :woohoo:

Ok I was OCD over Titanic actually... owned all of the books, the movie, the historical books, went to 2 Exhibits, the movie posters, the Rose doll.... yeah, I havent felt like that since than. That was 1998... so I was due another obsesssion... must be a 10 year itch or something! :lmao:

CP, Laura right? Your video was wonderful! You picked the really endearing parts of the movie. It all fit very well!

I have seen Twilight 4 times... but will most likely go again either Friday or Saturday. I'm jonesin' for a fix, and my last week of classes is killing me. I cannot wait for this quarter to be over!

I also have a new signature. I thought the boys were pretty swoon worthy in it. And it has a double dose of Rob. I think I'm more into Rob than Edward, which is saying something! :lmao:

Movie... none. I was an Empire Strikes Back/Star Wars person as a kid. I was a HUGE Duran Duran addict as a teen. I can't think of anything else ... OH WAIT!!!|

DISNEY!!!

I think you are reading way too much into some of these!

For instance: Forks is a real town. It is officially the rainiest place in the continental US. She found the town while researching the rainiest place in the US and used it for obvious reasons. That is the name of the actual town.

The Quileute tribe is a real tribe, and the legend about them changing into wolves is a part of the tribal canon. You may be right about Bella's name, but I think the Ms. Cope connection is very much a stretch.

Many authors will use names they have heard or the names of friends and family without giving thought to the meaning. Not to say that she didn't have specific meanings in mind, but I do think that you are reading too much into these particular names.

showing my age here....;) ..... but I saw Dirty Dancing at least a dozen times in the theatre- and when it finally came out on video (that's right, video- no DVD at that point!) I paid a small fortune ( I think it was $89.99) in babysitting money for it!:rotfl2:

Ok- point taken. I'm just having some fun and adding to the conversation. I have a master's degree in literature- so you don't need to be so condescending.... :confused3

back to the regularly scheduled swooning....

I know what you mean about MS! When I was reading it, I had one eye on that page count at the top. I kept thinking, "Oh, please, please may she make it at least to the meadow scene..." and as it got closer and the descriptions of Edward's angst grew lengthier, I finally realized that she wasn't going to make it. Waaahhhh! :sad:

I noticed Bella Swan and Volturi, but a couple of those names are actual... the Quileute are the tribe at the reservation in nearby La Push. In fact, Forks High School was originally named Quillayute (different spelling) High School--it's still carved in the arch over the front door. And, of course, Forks is the actual name of the town, named because of the nearby different forks in the Calawah, Bogachiel and Sol Duc rivers. Steph Meyer was just looking for a small town in a rainy place, and on discovering that the Olympic National Forest was the rainiest area in the continental U.S., she looked for a small town, and Forks looked perfect. She didn't visit the town till after her first book was published and became very popular. When she did, she said she was amazed that it actually fit her vision perfectly.

Y'know, I've always loved living here, but now I feel... just that much prouder to be a native Washingtonian! :rotfl:

I've always wanted to visit Washington- It is very green and beautiful!

Woah! Didn't mean to be condescending, I apologize if it came across that way. I didn't know if you knew that several of the names came from Steph's research (I wouldn't have if somebody here hadn't told me). You may be right about some of them (Bella in particular seems to be a likely guess).

I think I read somewhere, and this may be completely off base, that Bella was named the name she wanted use for her daughter, had she had one.

But the Beautiful Swan thing could also be correct.

It is a fitting name.

I am working on my first novel and I know that for certain names I went onto Babynames.com and looked for names that had very specific meanings that related to the characters and also had the etymology I was after. The name of the main character is one that I read in a Madeleine L'Engle book and fell in love with. Another author I know actually runs contests and will put the names of the contest winners into his novels. It's kind of neat how authors come up with the names.

I never made the Volturi/vulture connection. That is an interesting one. Volterra is a real place, so I'm wondering if that's how she got the name (Volterra/Volturi) although vulture would certainly make sense. It does fit their personalities.
