:rotfl: :lmao:

I read all the recaps of the books this weekend and thought they were hysterical. I too ended up laughing so hard until I was practically crying.

Nobody commented on my Greatest American Hero link.. did anybody agree with the similarities in special effects?

What I'm hoping they do with extra money is do better special effects, creater a tighter script that doesn't sound like so cheesy and make it look like a good movie. I'm not looking for a movie that is so afraid to go away from the book for fifteen seconds that they sacrifice quality. I think they could have easily stayed true to the book while having a decent script. Which I think is part of the issue in this movie. They wanted to be so true to the book (which is not a bad thing) but I feel the quality of the movie was effected. And like I have said previously, I did enjoy parts but that's not what I want to vent about.

I agree totally.

Like I said, I'm not bashing those who vent or complain. I do/did plenty! I dunno, just trying to get my thoughts around the success vs the backlash.

I think the Harry Potter people were, on the whole, pleased with their movie adaptation. I think the Twilight people felt on the fence quite often. I realize there were opinons all over the board but ... not quite the resounding YES that the Harry Potter people felt. Dunno.. just thinkin. :)

I was thinking the same thing about HP. I was happy with the movie adaptation right off the bat. Yes, there were things missing but the movies were well done with a good script and it all flowed well. ( except for one of the movies- I can't remember which one, I felt it cut from scene to scene to choppy). That might be why I feel a bigger budget would result in a movie I would be thrilled with.

OT. The preview for the new Harry Potter book looks really good, but I'm afraid I might not like it! This was my least favorite book. I just hope we don't get an hour of them camping in the woods being all angsty with each other.

I know the ending scenes will be great and action packed. But there was too much filler for my liking in this book.

But I do agree a bigger budget will most likely result in a better movie.

Not necesarily. I had my issues with HP films, mostly with POA and OotP, and with the acting as well... *coughemmawatsoncough*
And there are still many HP fans out there that absolutely hate the movies, I know a lot of them. So I'd say a lot of HP fans are on the fence as well. However, I do think the Twilight fandom complains a lot more than the HP fandom. And I mean A LOT.

It's kind of a joke but it's on page 227 post #3401

oh that one...yeah I saw it...I want to go see it...freaked me out too...now see to me thats a horror movie...not these stupid blood and guts coming out because of some psycho guy who gets his thrills out of dismembering people:rolleyes2

I think the deal was that they were only signed on to do the first movie. And then depending on if it tanked or did well (like it has been doing) they would sign on for the other movies.

And I guess they just green lighted New Moon yesterdayish, and probably Eclipse? But I'm not for certain on Eclipse.

they greenlighted NM on sat. and as of sunday were considering doing both movies back to back...i guess they will have to because robert isnt going to stay looking that young for very long

The problem, for me as I see it, has nothing to do with the budget. They need a new screenwriter and a new editor. Perhaps even a new director. The main thing I hated was the pacing. It was so slow, I actually kept wondering "is this ever going to end?"

I hope they choose a different director altogether. It didn't ruin Harry Potter (switching directors). Hardwick didn't do it for me, and Rosenberg (the screenwriter) was sub par as well.

I agree totally about changing the director...Ive seen her main 3 films and to me the pictures are "murky"??? thats the best word I can come up with and the movie had a blue tint to the whole thing.. I know they had a low budget but did that mean they had to have amateur cameramen and such??? and when they flew/jumped, Roberts body was all mangled...you could totally tell he was on a wire....and I dont think quality of something and/or employees has anything to do with the budget...take for instance queen of the damned.....lets forget about the budget here...they were on wires and they flew around but even though you knew they were on wires you could let your imagination run wild and believe they were really jumping around and such but this left nothing to my imagination...there were so many things that made it seem really amateurish imo and that has not got anything to do with actors, or the budget...I want another director too:thumbsup2 oh and new cameramen

Hahahahahaha! :rotfl:
I do hope they film around March or May next year. I want to visit the set, but I don't want to go in January of February like they did for Twilight...I would freeze!

its interesting that you brought this up...a bunch of us were talking about it the other night...it has been stated time and time again that none of them knew how big this was going to get at the time of production...even when they were filming and people were able to get on the set and they talked to some of the cast they were surprised...I bet you anything that now they know the frenzy and how the fans act about Robert that they will have a closed set so dont get your hopes up too high about it CP...

Flightless Bird, American Mouth by Iron & Wine. I LOVE IT!!!:lovestruc
I am considering playing it at my wedding, hehe

now why does that NOT surprise me:rolleyes: :rotfl:

Oh, I know, but I would like to see some filming even if it's from far away. I'm interested in the filming of movies either way. Plus, I might get lucky and see the actors in downtown Portland.:rotfl:

Yep rumor has it that they will definately have a closed set for New Moon. This was already being said before it was confirmed that they would film New Moon.

Ok, that link to Occupation Girl (http://cleolinda.livejournal.com/605018.html) led me to her other recaps of all the books, and I laughed more yesterday than I think I have in the last ten years, combined. Her language is deplorable, and she freely admits that she hates the ideas in the books while also being completely addicted to them. But her commentary leaves me just doubled over choking with laughter, tears in my eyes!

This little quote about Isle Esme in Breaking Dawn had me randomly breaking into snorfles of laughter at inappropriate times all evening-- she seems to ask those questions you only asked in the deepest depths of your mind while reading:

"(So many things have—probably for the best—been left unaddressed here. I mean, was it like f***ing a popsicle? These are the questions I find myself asking.)"

I am going to check out the link when I have more time.

But I havent seen this addressed anywhere, but what about the Cullens being around Bella during her TOM? Has anyone else thought about that or just me:confused3 Please tell me I am not the only freak that has thought about that.:rolleyes1

Well I decided to take DD and one of her friends again to see Twilight after Thanksgiving. DD and I saw it Friday and while I liked it I didn't love it. I am hoping to enjoyit more the seocnd time around:thumbsup2

I read somewhere that this is one of Stephanie Meyer's most FREQUENTLY asked questions at book signings! And she refuses to dignifiy it with an answer! :rotfl2:
