Hey Neighbor. I'm working in Collegeville.
I work with a 21 year old. She is going to KoP at 4am with her friends to get in line for the bracelets. I told her to bring me back of pic of him.

Hey, neighbor! I work in the Lansdale area. I keep joking with my coworkers that I am going to go see Rob and they just shake their heads. They already think I'm crazy with the Twilight stuff. Glad to see that there is someone else in SE PA that is into this!

I don't either. But in the scene where him and Bella are at his house and he's wearing the blue shirt, grabs her and jumbs out the window, he looks exactly like Hayden.

Its scary because I know more about it than the 21 year old and I'm 39. Its sad really LOL.

Do we know if they are allowing critics to screen the film for early reviews? I am hoping so, as almost always a very grave sign if they hold back from viewings...

It was screened on Friday for critics and such. The person interviewing Rob for Variety a few pages back said she saw the movie, and so did the interviewers for Extra and Access Hollywood.

President-Elect Obama Reads ‘Twilight,’ So Is He Team Edward Or Team Jacob?
Published by Josh Horowitz on Monday, November 10, 2008 at 3:17 pm.

Barack Obama President-Elect Barack Obama truly has a full plate. Revitilize a sinking economy. Energize a nation. Rehabilitate America’s fragile standing in the world. Oh, and get through four “Twilight” books with his youngest daughter.

Yes, according to the latest issue of US Weekly, Stephenie Meyer has a couple fans who will be moving into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in a couple months. The magazine reports that the President-Elect and his ten-year-old daughter Malia often bond over addictive book series, “They read all the Harry Potter books together and have moved on to the Twilight series.”

What does this mean? A Presidential screening of “Twilight” at the White House? Robert Pattinson for Secretary of Dreamy Eyes? Anything is possible. Are you surprised that “Twilight”-mania has gone all the way to the Oval Office?

Awesome! I'm starting a Facebook group right now!

Thanks for the info on the screenings... that is good.

TOO wild on this one... but surprised reading with a 10-year-old, and to have already finished HP series... the later HP books are pretty dark.

I agree with SSB. Those girls are too young for HP IMHO, much less twilight!!

Hmm.... DBF will be away on business and I work around the corner from the Plaza. Maybe a sidetrip will be called for....

My daughter is 8 and she's very anxious for me to read them with her. The books are actually on her reading level in Accelerated Reader. Kind of hard to believe. I figure if I read them with her, I can at least explain (or tone down) anything necessary.

Ugh. I hate how some of these articles are written. "Secretary of Dreamy Eyes."? Barf.

This is a book than can easily appeal to a wide range of audiences, but they have really pigeon holed it as a tween girl book in the way they advertise it. Believe me, my boyfriend ran the other direction befor I put it in his hands and he discovered he loves it. Why can't they write articles about it or market it in a halfway intellignet manner?

Okay, rant over.

That is a good point ... and each parent knows their child's propensity for having nightmares, etc... as with the HP books.

She's not the same 8 year old I was (waaaaay back when). :rotfl: It also doesn't help that she has 15 & 17 year old brothers. :lmao:

To be honest, I found the later HP books darker than any in the Twilight series. Then again...vampires do it for me so I guess that doesn't hurt. ;)

Kids overlook what they don't understand. I started reading the Sword of Truth series when I was 11. It has rape, disembowelment, premarital sex, gay relationships, the works. My parents never read it or really talked about it with me that much. I actually got the first book from our middle school library.

When I was in 4th grade I started reading every book I could find about AIDS, which I'm sure as you can imagine had lots of information about gay sex and intravenous drugs in it. I look back now and think how I would never let a young kid read htese kinds of books. Then I look at the books I read as a kid and how I jsut glossed over that type of thing. These are pretty clean books, there is nothing explicit about them at all. If you are concerned, read them with your daughter so you can discuss, but maybe let her drive the discussion. There's no need to have a lengthy disucsison on something she didn't even notice.

Hehehe, I just saw him say that in an interview and it made me laugh so much.

I'd be pretty scared if that was my kid. Then again, knowing mine, she'd say it as a joke. Who knows the context with any of those stories.

I agree. Sometimes, it's just a story to them. I am more concerned with her being scared of something than anything else.

My only "expectation" at this point is that the film is going to be cheezy, melodramatic and likely terrible. I am HOPING it's good.

Good special effects lend themselves to the film in a subtle way, wherein you believe what you are seeing and it enhances the film. Badly done effects (like what I have seen done in Twilight) make you go...oh yeah...this is all just wires and CG. And can easily ruin the experience.

I absolutely doubt the quality of Edward and Bella's relationship due to what so far looks like Kristen Stewart having attended the "Mannequin Skywalker" school of acting that Hayden Christiansen attended before ruining Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.

As for Eragon, you are right. It was not nearly the crushing phenomenon that Twilight or Harry Potter are, but it IS huge (whether you read it or not). The film was embarrassingly bad and subsequent films based on the rest of the books were scrapped. So I do worry that we might not see the other books in film form, if Twilight is a critical bomb.

Man I sound like a negative Nelly. I really really want the movie to be good and to do well, and for the other books to be made into films. But just like the week leading up to election night, I am worried I might not get what I want.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I have only seen bits and pieces of Revenge of the Sith because he was so bad in it, I just couldn't watch it all.

I knew there was a reason for my Obama love, he has good taste in books! That is super cute that he reads with his daughter though.

I have to agree with you here, some of these interviews and articles are so cheesy and really dumbed down as if only pre-teen girls read these books

I just read an article where a 7 year old asked Rob to take a picture with her at an Apple store in NY. Then, she asked him if he would bite her. Yikes! :scared1:

http://www.comcast.net/articles/entertainment-eonline/20081110/b67923/

:scared1: wow, that must have been so awkward for poor Rob. 7 years old seems a bit young to be reading the books, isn't it? I almost got Twilight for my little sister's birthday this past weekend, but thought it wasn't appropriate for her...and she was turning 13!
