If all works out, it will just be check in on 10/1 and then on 10/5 with us then heading down to AnnaMaria Island on 10/9. If we are unable to snag BWV for the night of 10/5 that is when it will be a pain. Steve thinks if we have to move from OKW to OKW and then to BWV, we might as well make it OKW to somewhere else then to BWV. I am not sure I want to bother with another reservation change... not only because the last one was such a pain, but because I am still optimistic that sometime in the next 6 months that one night will become available at BWV.
UGH, I'd be optimistic too. But I'd probably keep the OKW/OKW simply as you know your luggage will not be in transit. Plus, when you check in for your first ressie if you have a lockoff 2bedroom, you could ask that one of your studios be the studio from the lockoff if at all possible that was you'd only have to move one studio. Go down and check out/in before you take bags to bell services in hopes you can just stick all in the 1 studio while they assign the other. Plus the 2nd one could be ready right then, you never know! I'd actually email DVC and put it in my room request notes (not call). Then it wouldn't be quite so bad. If you have a dedicated 2b now I might look to switch to a lockoff for that reason alone.
Thank you

I feel like I should be getting faster.. but I seem to just be at the same pace I was a year ago.
Maybe, maybe not. Jeff's pretty much been at the same pace most of his life. I think the longer run pace can slowly improve but average? Maybe not. I don't know. I look at mine as a weighted average versus a straight average and given that I don't do any short runs, I never have much under 9 to bring it down. LOL!
I truly hate feeling funky like that. I normally tend to be more of a glass half full..but man not when waiting the arrival of my special friend. Then everything seems/feels much more than it is. I truly hate that Steve is not feeling well. I think that last week was just more "remembering" how it has been in the past that got to me. So far he is being quite the trooper with it. So far I have not seen any change in his participation in daily life. I was hoping that he could get ahead of this and stop it before it really takes hold. However we are past that now and I think he will need to go in for treatment in order to kick it back into remission.
You are so right about everything feeling much more than it is. I'll tell Jeff I am crabby and down for no reason. And there is a reason, the friend, but at the same time you know your emotions are illogical (mine) or overreactions. I hope he can get in soon and turn it around.
I was wondering how it went! I haven't been online as much this weekend as I would have liked. That is a pretty good turn out! Over 250 people. My goal is to try to stay in the front half of the pack of any race. You did that!!!

AND you were in the top 25% of women! That is absolutely awesome!!! Headwinds SUCK. Wind can make for such a challenging run. I think that is an awesome time btw! And given you walked the water stops - even more impressive! My run yesterday I finished in 1:32:xx I didn't walk any of that. So when you

me for my pace just know... that I think you are I are close... but you still are just a bit faster than I am. So let me just

you for you pace!
Yes, 261 people, about the same as the 10k we did. Not top 25% of women lol, but top third, which I will take. I did walk the water stops, I'm just too klutzy. Only garbage bag people at the 3rd and 4th ones though so a little odd. Still, I can't imagine all that added more than 30 seconds to my time. I also am not convinced the water, or the 3/4 of a shot block I had, made any difference or was needed but it was good to test in an actual race.
As for the conditions it was...meh. LOL! Windy and Drizzle/light showers for about the first 3 miles, less wind and dry for the middle 3, I even took off my jacket, and then the wind and showers came back in for the last 3. It was the last .6 that kicked our behinds as we turned around into the wind. It was literally like slamming into a wall and then there was a short, but steep hill. Both of us were feeling pretty good until that happened and it really made you lose your mojo. Jeff said for him it was the first time that wind had truly impacted his pace. All that aside for both of us, it was a bit of a weird race. For whatever reason neither of us had that race adrenaline that we'd had before at the 10K and Jeff has had at many other races. Maybe it was the weather, maybe it was that I ran too much during the week, maybe it was the fact that I didn't "need" a POT, maybe it was the mental comparison with our lovely run 6 days prior but I just wasn't totally feeling it and as a result didn't totally turn it on out there. Also, when push came to shove I really did (in that moment anyway) decide I had no interest in injury and would have twinges in my adductor and knee and decided to play on the safer side. What was nice, for me, is that I did keep pace with several folks and it was nice to have a consistent group to run with. That is where I like having the watch as I can really see the splits. Not the true negative trend I'd like to see but not a horrible trend either, more of my normal bell curve (faster, slower, faster). Except for that last .6 LOL! Factor out the water stops, headwinds and the one glass of wine the night before and the too much running before the race and maybe that shaves a minute or a minute and a half I'd guess. I think I was more bummed as literally it was the exact same pace as the prior week and that run I was so holding back as to preserve my legs for the race (and running 2 hours after a huge breakfast, not my norm at all and bleh!) that I did expect the race itself to be a little bit better than the training run.
I will say....I am SO glad I bought the new jacket and the long sleeve tee. I was very pleased with what I wore for the temps, rain and even the wind. It could have been so much worse. I felt bad though, right at the turn (before we all realized the headwind would make us stop) a woman I'd been running with most of the time who was doing the 30K (5/15/30 all started together) turned at the 15K turn instead of keeping going. Race officials kept trying to tell her that it wasn't her turn around and she was just like "I'm done!"
I was also glad we finished when we did. The 30k folks had a nasty squall while we were in the tents getting our snacks after. We thought the tent was going to blow over! It did clear up.
I think this is what throws me a bit... seems like once you start signing up for races/events there is always just one more around the corner. It is making it hard for me to know how to handle my runs. I probably am over thinking it... I think you have your mileage up there already from the 15k. So I bet you just maintain a bit for the next 2 weeks.... but I may not have the best advice to give since I myself am just unsure of what I am doing.
I think my big question, which I tried to pose else where and clearly rambled (or most folks think a taper for a 12 is silly or whatever I am not sure) is how long to run on Sunday. I will likely run Weds, Fri, Sun and then Tuesday and take the rest of the week off from running until the race based on the work trip. This trip will not likely have much oppty to run until Friday which then is only 2 days before the race so...who knows.
So will you be going back in to be "put back together"?

Hopefully, you are not too sore.
I go in Friday. No, not too bad. My legs were definitely stiff on Sat and I do think it was as much the cumulative effect of upping miles. Not in a can't squat miserable way but just in a good workout sore way. Tight more than anything, I meant to do all my stretches yesterday and between house-guests, piano recital, youth group, costco and grocery store and a nasty cut to my finger...the day got away from me.
I am tired today, but it struck me that I am not sore. Like at all. I took note of that and actually stopped to wonder. When did that happen? When did I go from being sore after long runs to not having any muscle ache. I remember that during the training for the first ToT, my legs were so sore that I could not squat down. It seemed to be a constant state of my muscles. I remember that. I remember my muscles burned after the first phm. Somewhere along the line that muscle soreness has gotten to be less and less until now.. It is odd.
I wasn't sore after the 9 mile run last Sunday but was after this Sat. So just a wee bit more than my legs were used to.
As for your miles... that is a lot of miles! nearly 10 though are the race, correct? So really just 13 miles for the week leading up? yeah... I can see that being a bit high...
It was not the plan that is for sure! But having had 6 days off prior to the first 9 miler, combined with the sun, we couldn't resist. That said, I should have run less on Weds. I knew it, went as far as Jeff wanted to, and shouldn't have. Did it really make a huge difference? Likely not. But it wasn't ideal.
It would be a twin...so we should be good there. Split bathroom..

So like what we had at OKW.. two doors that both lock and person goes in door A... locks both and then exits out door B. (leaving A locked)
Yes. One side opens into the MBR, one into the main area.
Renton is not that far! I have been wondering what I will do in April. Given that Steve is not feeling well, I am anticipating April will be solo for me.

I will look into the Seahawks 12k.

it's a bigger race, looks like 2K last year. Which for me I think will be good from an energy and adrenaline standpoint, not to mention experiencing something a bit bigger.
It would be really fun if you were there!!
Yeah.. the more I think about that one the more I am thinking NO. I will figure it out... I just was hoping for an "easy" - "do this" type of plan. Just one that didn't make me run that many miles!
40 is NOT my definition of easy.

Honestly I can't seem myself, with 3 runs a weeek, ever doing more than 25.
I wonder if it was due to pollen of some kind or maybe it was the lack of any sort of cool down what so ever. Either way it was not fun and it definitely left me anxious when it came to my next run.
Certain pollens due that to Jeff and it is unpredictable.
Yeah, as I already mentioned (not sure why I didn't see this post and respond to it earlier) 13 may be just a tad high when tapering for a 15k. If you ran that kind of mileage often I might not think so, but this was the most in any one week so maybe not ideal.. but you did it! And guess what? You are still alive to talk about it.

Same thing for the weather... you lived. Course... OMG if it was like it was here up there, that must have really been odd. One minute it was pouring and the next blue skies. I know you had the wind. Hopefully it wasn't too wet.
My ideal would have been to reverse the weeks but oh well, I still wouldn't trade that sunny day tank top run for anything.
It shouldn't. And when I say average.. that is all my runs that RK has averaged together for the week. So my short runs that are just over 8 minutes per mile get averaged with my longer ones that are more in the low 9:xx min/mile pace.
I really should do some short fast ones but...don't want to. LOL!
It does have something to do with things! A costume for the DLH!!!

I still think I will just use my minnie skirt and such.. but it is fun to think of outfits. I am currently working on thoughts for the AHM. Under Armour came out with a bunch of super hero shirts. Most are DC and not marvel though... but there are some marvel that are great. It will make putting something together for Steve super easy. Me.. not so much. (wonderwoman is not marvel) It is fun to plan though... so a yellow skirt for Belle! Very fun!!
Can you get one of the mens shirts and then have it altered into a tank? I need to test the skirt I have before I get the yellow one but it has promise. finding the top though may kill the deal. We will see.
