I know it sounds silly asking this question. But, with all the cleaning and cooking I have been doing I think my brain blew a fuse. According to FoodTV website a 22 lb turkey would cook in 4 hours and 24 minutes at 350. So, if I am cooking it at 325 how much longer would I need to cook it? It sounds silly but I am so use to cooking at 325 that I just cook it at this temp. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have no idea how much longer you would have to cook the turkey. Don't you think you could just adjust the thermostat to 350?

My dear MIL was the best cook I ever met and she always said that it takes 25 minutes per pound to cook a turkey (325). Four and a half hours aren't going to cook a 22 pound turkey in the oven at 325 or 350. You're going to need more like 10 hours.

Now, if you wanted to deep-fry it, it would take 4 minutes per pound.

My turkey is 21 pounds and the packaging says to cook it for 5 hours at 350. Would it be possible for you to cook at 350 just this once??

Good old Betty Crocker says to use 325. Her time table says 20 to 24 lbs should take 6 1/2 to 7 hours. She recommends using a loose tent of foil. My birds never take as long as she says because I use a covered roaster.

If Butterball is saying 4 to 4 1/2 hours I guess that explains why the turkey is always pink & tough when my sister does hers. I like mine to fall off the bone. ;)
