Turkey Day Gang 2009

Not to start a debate but I don't think that Disney (resort, park or cruise) is any safer (or less safe) than anywhere else. Whether you are at home or on vacation you need to remain vigilent about your safety, security and health.

Having cruised on 3 cruise lines...Disney, Royal Carribean and Carnival, I can't say I felt any safer on one than the other.

However, I will say that the level of cleanliness on the Disney cruise was much more noticeable...maybe it's because we heard that they got a 100% from the CDC and the Captain rewarded the crew by staying longer in Cozumel.

With that said though, I always bring Clorox wipes and hit every light switch, handle and surface in our stateroom, regardless of the cruise line. Maybe it's neurotic on my part...but I work at a University and I've seen what Norovirus can do to a bunch of law students :scared1: :scared1: !

I agree with Karen on this. We have cruised on the same three lines, Disney, Royal Carribean and Carnival. We felt safe on all. We prefer Disney but all had something to offer.

We had a good time a few years back on the Glory out of PC. I think with Carnival you have to do 7 day cruises to get away from the " party drunk fest " boat syndrome. Their food surpassed DCL and that surprised us.

Rob:

Have a great time on your Carnival cruise. When looking at $$$ it sounds like you get a great value. We know how you feel about getting a cruise fix.

PS: My husband wanted me to let you know that he knows how you feel about the Bahamas ! We were there a couple of weeks ago on our double dip. Went to the Atlantis, but the island as a whole has no appeal for us.

Holy cow....remember last Thanksgiving...we were hoping to get above 500 posts...and now look at us. With more than a year to go we are already at more than 600 posts!

ATTENTION DISNEY ADDICTS

Our local cheapy airline Alligant Air (Sanford) is offering a fare $49 November 22 to 26 to Orlando. We were thinking of jumping to the parks, but are the days leading up to Thanksgiving a MADHOUSE ?? Anyone that has any thoughts just let me know.

THANKS TURKEYS !

Wow! We'll be there just after that. We're doing the 3 night cruise on the 23rd and then 3 nights at the Dolphin (cheap rates $188/nt incl tax). Yes, its a busy crazy time. I've had lots of luck with the Schlesinger book - The Unofficial Guide to WDW. His "touring plans" reduce wait time in the park by hours. We used it over Spring Break and it worked great! Plus at touring plans dot com, he lists every day of the year and assigns crowd meters and tell which parks to avoid on which days. If I were you, I'd go for it. Let me know if you want more info.

We are spending Thanksgiving weekend at WDW this year!!! Our Disney Wedding was Thanksgiving weekend 1999. I don't recall the crowds being too bad. The largest crowds, in our opinion, are the weeks between Christmas and New Years and then summer vacation.
If you decide to spend Thanksgiving at WDW, let us know...maybe we will be able to see each other!!

Hi Wendy,

We love going to Disney at Thanksgiving! The Christmas decorations are up at all the resorts and the parks are decorated too. We were there Thanksgiving 2006 and things were pretty quiet Saturday til Tuesday...on Wednesday they picked up, Thursday through Saturday were even more crowded...but not NEARLY as crowded as Christmas (which I equate to a mosh pit)!

Maybe we can do a Turkey reunion. Unfortunately for us, it all depends on how quickly I heal from surgery in September.

Let us know if you decide to go.

Karen

Thanks everyone... I think we are going to go for it.

Any chance to see the mouse.

Wendy

Hi Wendy,

Just told Andrew about ya'll visiting the Mouse at Thanksgiving. He's sure hoping we can go and meet up! Now, I just need to work on Steve......

By the way, is Lindsey looking for any special pins? We're heading to see the Mouse in a few weeks and would be glad to keep our eyes peeled!

Karen

We were in WDW Thanksgiving 2006 too. We arrived the Saturday before and the parks were quite manageable in the beginning of the week. By Wednesday, they were filling up. On Thanksgiving we went to AK and it wasnt' as bad as we expected. We went to MK the day after Thanksgiving and it was quite crowded but we were able to do everything we wanted by following our plan. We did decide we never wanted to go during the week of a major holiday again. DH needed to use an ECV and it was more difficult to navigate through the crowds.

We were able to work it out, Sunday - Friday. The tickets were a little tricky, by the time you added on a bag and a reserved seat and taxes it was up to about $80. We also had to add transportation to Resort from Sanford Airport. But we did not think we could beat the price.

We are staying at the Wilderness Resort Villas. Lindsey would love to meet us with Andrew and Mason and any other Turkey friends.

As far as pins go, we are looking for a few of the new Tinkerbell 08 pins. We always love those and anything Mickey !!!!

Hope that you can work on Steve for a Turkey reunion. I am going to make a reservation for 9 at Chef Mickey's on Wednesday.... Maybe we will have some interest.

Wendy

Lisa will have to respond later as to what we have for reservations, but i imagine we can work something out for Thanksgiving. I believe we are going wednesday to sunday...we will be at saratoga springs
