It is going to be tough:sad1: :sad1: We are doing a Carnival out of Miami at the end of this month just to get a cruise fix:thumbsup2 We have been looking at other times in 2009 to do a DCL cruise but can not deal with the $$. With that said ..so goes the long wait till 11/09.

Rob - which Carnival ship is it? Friends of mine are sailing on the Carnival Imagination out of Miami in December. If it's the same ship, I'll be looking forward to your review.

It is the Liberty and does a western. I am real curious how their private island compares to Disney's.I will let you know
fYI it was $2461 for a outside room with a view.:thumbsup2

Welcome home! Did Mason enjoy the trip too? I read your live thread and it sounds like you had a good, relaxing time. Just what I would want right now.

Mason had a great time!!! He spent the mornings and evenings involved w/ the lab activities and the afternoons and early evenings w/ us. We tried a few new activities (to us) this time--chip it golf in the atrium and the crab race on CC. Mason was the first child down the Mickey slide on thursday afternoon and was chosen to be a dwarf at the Golden Mickeys thursday evening. He also went w/ me to the 4th of July deck party and played in the water at CC. We actually had to wake Mason up each morning---that never happens at home!!!

Hey all,

Can anyone recommend what to do for our first visit to Key West on our Nov western? I want to stay away from the "adult" areas as we will be all together as a family. Is there an inexpensive trolly tour? I saw $20 each but was not interested in spending that much for 6 people.

How about Cozumel? We did tulum last time but may just stay close to the ship this time.

Thanks'
Bill

Heres a link. It will be cheaper for you to book directly with the tour company vs the ship. Also, the Hemingway House is fun to visit - especially if there are cat lovers in your family. Good luck!

We generally skip the Trolley Tour that you book through the ship and do one on our own that allows you to get on and off. Our "highlights" for Key West are 1) Truman Little White House (what can I say, we're from Missouri -- 'nough said?) 2) Hemingway House and 3) Southernmost point.

One note though...the Turkey Day '09 is Eastern and I don't think they stop in Key West...do they?

Karen

Nevermind...I see, it's for another cruise you are taking...lucky you!

Cozumel, we've heard good things about Paradise Beach.

You might want to go to www.cruisecritic.com and see what people are posting over there about the various ports. I've found that to be a good website on tour and port recommendations.

YES IT IS AN EASTERN:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 I have had it with Key West:sad2: :sad2: Once is enough and twice was to many. Nothing really to do there.

Rob

As to Key West for the family, there really is not much...perhaps the Hemingway house...alternatively, a pleasant stroll down Duval Street for window shopping, or if you are really adventurous, a walk to the Southernmost point in the USA, but beware that is about one mile each way.

As to Cozumel, the Fury Catamaran was great when we took it back in 2004. We skipped in 2006 b/c it had temporarily had its beach area relocated due to a hurricane, but I have heard it is back to normal. The Passporter guide rates it a rare 10.

Also, in Cozumel there is a nice little mini golf course a few blocks from the port. Mason enjoyed that. In Key West I enjoyed the frozen key lime pie dipped in chocolate on a stick!! :thumbsup2 Mason did not like Key West at all and BEGGED to go back to the Magic!!

Chuck, Lisa, and Mason - Welcome back. Glad to hear that you had another great cruise. Must of been fun to be on the ship for 4th of July. jumping boards to see your thread.

Wow...this thread was on page 4!! Everyone must be having a very busy summer!! Mason has 3 more weeks of overnight camp, then 1 week of day camp (tennis camp) and then back to school for him!!

Lisa

Yep, busy summer here too. Logan just got dropped off for Boy Scout camp, Leah is going to a friend's house for a few days, and Lenny and I are headed to Vegas this afternoon. :cool1:

Upgrades for all if we win big! :thumbsup2 :teeth:

Well call us traitors...We are heading down to Miami this Friday to get on the Carnival Liberty for a 7 day Eastern. The price was great @ $2431 for an ocean view for the 3 of us. I will report back on how it was.

Rob, have a great time! Steve and Andrew LOVE the warm chocolate melting cake (with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream, please) on the Carnival cruises....

I won't tell them...for fear they may ask you to bring some back for them:rotfl2: (Sorry, but when we did our 1st Carnival cruise, they both ordered it every night for dessert...and would have gladly kidnapped the chef and taken him home if they could have!)

Hope you all have a great time!
