Turkey Day Gang 2009

Chuck -

I am so jealous right now! Love Bruce!!! Have lots of fun!

I went to the local wine festival this weekend and had a blast. My girlfriends and I came home with a trunk full. :woohoo: My DH just laughed at us. I told him I got a few extra to bring onboard. There were over 70 wineries, so it was really hard to choose. It was lots of fun tasting them, though.

Everyone have a great week.

Oh and Happy Birthday to your son Sherreis, love the card!

That is too funny that two of you have mentioned Bunco! I've been thinking that it would be a fun activity to plan one late morning or afternoon! My family loves to get together to play. The louder, the better! :lmao:

What is Bunco? It sounds like something I need to know about!

Hello everyone...

Bunco at sea would be fun!! We could do it in the Promenade Lounge one day.

Sorry to dampen hope, but there is no way that New Moon will be shown onboard; it is not a Disney/Pixar flick. We'll get the new Christmas Carol with Jim Carrey and there is a premiere that week with (I think) Jim Travolta and Tim Allen (a comedy.) G-Force should still be showing as well as leftover summer movies.

The movie is actually premiering at MIDNIGHT Thursday night, so you intrepid fools could catch that one before your travel day to MCO. (Hey, you could sleep on the plane that way.) Also, if you have a car and are in Orlando, you could go out to either Downtown Disney or Universal's Citywalk and catch it there. Citywalk has a "movie and a meal" deal for $21.95 which is a bargain for this (or any) town.

I'd like to hear more about a regatta -- DexH and DD would most likely love to do this. Real kayaks/boats or toy ones? DD wants to do the Teen Wild Side excursion again. (There's a cool teen excursion in St. Martin but it doesn't say at what time it is so i don't want to mess up our whole day for a 1 hour excursion there.)

We are doing a day tour with Bernard in St. Martin -- was someone else going with him, too? pirate:

What about the new Disney Princess and the Frog? It's due out in November. Do you think there is a chance we'll get that?

Leah is Team Jacob as well. He's all lined up in her master plan of 5 husbands. Kevin Jonas and some singer from the Maine are two more of her DH's. Can't remember who the last two are. :rotfl:

I LOVE:love: this master plan!! Such an organized girl you have! I always said "First time for money, second time for looks, third time for love."

Sadly, it hasn't worked out...I think I'm on some kind of prototype!

We've decided to go to MVMCP the night before the cruise. Today is DS(now 14) birthday so we're giving it to him for his birthday present. He'll be so excited because he really wants to go and we originally told him no.

Here's the card I made for him -- didn't have a lot of time so the edges aren't as clean as i would like. But, he won't care.:goodvibes

How good is this? We didn't go last year, but I was intrigued. How late does it run? What do tickets run?

Hey All,

We just booked our Thanksgiving 2009 cruise! We were on the the cruise in 2006 and are so excited to be going back for Thanksgiving! We have done the Western and the special Tortola cruise, but this is our first straight Eastern! Very excited!!!

Now, I have to do a little more research in regards to dinner rotations...etc. :) We won't be booking Palo till we board since we booked so late.

Welcome aboard, SSRJen! :)

Bunco is a super easy dice game. All you need to do is roll dice. Once you start to play it's very easy to understand. The thing I like about it is that it's a great way to get to know new people. After each short round, you switch tables and pair up with a new partner.

What does everyone thing about trying to schedule it for Monday afternoon? I don't think Sunday or Thursday will work if people are trying to catch football games.

Paula - sounds good! I know my DH and DS like to collect the different Council Strip Patches and also Order of the Arrow flaps. I don't think you can purchase OA flaps yet though until your DS belongs to it.

I'm a co-leader for my DD's Senior troop. I looked online and it looks they also have an office in St. Thomas. I tried to send them an email but the email isn't valid anymore. I'll look into that some more.

We need to add a Scout patch swap time to the navigator! :)

Laura:

I will add the Scout patch swap to our mini navigator. just pick the date and time...

Here are a bunch of random comments and answers...

Sherri - happy birthday to your ds! VERY Cool gift.

For the Regatta - its just a little sailboat race we'll set up ourselves. but "regatta" makes it sound so much more important - There is an area near the Magic and the Flying Duchman that you can rent Hobie Cats- small sailing catamarans, 16 ft long -I think. Maybe 14 ft. Our plan is to race these. Dh has some yellow blow up marks to use to make a course to race around- if they let him. We really don't know what the rules are - we might not be able to set up a real course. We're thinking around 1:30 in the afternoon. There are 3 teams all from our family so far. Me and dd12, Dh and ds9, DBil and DNephew8.

We are with Bernard at St Maartins too. He just emailed me this week to confirm.

My favorite Twilight character was Jacob. And I might make enemies here but as for Belle I was like - just bite her already - and make her stop whining! But by the end of the series I really liked her and I did enjoy the last book the best.

Has anyone ever heard of a book called Uglies by Scott Westerfeld? Its sort of a sci-fi, fantasy, brain washing story told by a 15-16yr old. Sort of an alternate reality sort of like animal farm but not. There are 2 more books in the series and I'm on the waiting list at the library for them. They are Pretties and Specials and I'm totally addicted. Yes, I did turn 40 a couple weeks ago, but I can't take anything more serious than a book for "teens" right now.

and is the 2011 t-giving cruise location listed yet?

Glad to have your aboard.....

I love Bunco! I'm in a group here that plays every other month (we alternate it with book club). It's a great night out! It would be fun to get together and play on the ship!

I"m also a HUGE Twilight fan. We read the first book for book club and most of us got hooked and read the rest of the series. I must admit I"m for Team Edward. I"m also bummed that we will miss the opening of the next movie. For Twilight, my book club all went to the 10pm opening night show.

How good is this? We didn't go last year, but I was intrigued. How late does it run? What do tickets run?

This is the 1st time we're going. I figure that spending late afternoon and evening at Magic Kingdom is worth it. I think that the tickets are $52 for adults (which, of course for Disney is 10 and above) and $49? for under 9. I asked a couple of my coworkers who are Disney addicts and both of them recommended it. It ends at midnight. So, we'll be the ones with bags under our eyes at the terminal on Saturday morning, but, who cares, we'll have spent the night at MK.

Chuck & Lisa -- Bruce! I hope you enjoyed him and the band. Count me in with everyone else who wishes they were going with you.

SSRJen – Welcome & looking forward to meeting you and your family. Do you have kids sailing along?

Bunco – I would like to learn how to play. I’ve heard it’s fun.

OK -- only a few more to 2500!!! Halfway to 5000!!!

What about the new Disney Princess and the Frog? It's due out in November. Do you think there is a chance we'll get that?
I do not know about the movie, but the Princess herself is set to be on board. princess:

Welcome aboard, SSRJen! :)

I think it would be fun. I am up for it pending on when we do Palo...my husband was in charge of that.

This is the 1st time we're going. I figure that spending late afternoon and evening at Magic Kingdom is worth it.

It is a lot of fun!!! and the biggest benefit is that there are not huge lines after like 7pm. Plus they have cute extras. Enjoy MVMCP!!

Chuck and Lisa I hope you had a great time.

But now we are out for the night as we are off to see Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band....best live show ever in my opinion....last year they were still doing a full 3 hours.

It's past my bedtime, but as a former Jersey Girl, I had to log on just to say
BBBRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCEEE!

(it's a Jersey thing! :rotfl2:)

G'night!
:laughing::cloud9:
