We saw the movie Larry Crowne recently, and a 20-something female character tells the Tom Hanks character to stop tucking in his polo shirts. So he does stop. I thought that was weird.
But since then, I've been in a few places where I've noticed that NO one has their shirts tucked in. Like in a room full of 30 people.
I don't mean women's blouses that are meant to be worn out. I mean polos, button-up shirts, and even t-shirts. (And before someone argues with me, I know some shirts can fine good both ways).
So is it a total fashion no-no to tuck in one's shirt nowadays? Am I walking around and people are laughing at me behind my back because I have my shirt tucked in?
I guess I'm a total fashion geezer at 40, but I think in general it looks more sloppy to not tuck in your shirt. Especially knits. Plus because of my body shape (fairly long and thin everywhere except for my tummy), it makes my lumps show up a LOT more if I don't tuck in the shirt. I guess that's the "spare tire" that people talk about
?? It sure is a lot more obvious if I don't have my shirt tucked in.
Maybe it just goes along with buying clothes that come already very worn out for you. I don't get that fashion trend, either.
I'm just so glad that they've started making shirts longer and pant's waistlines higher than a few years ago. For a while I could hardly keep my shirts tucked in even though I wanted to.
