In April an older lady (mom) was wearing a halter on Everest and her breast came out. No one noticed it until she was stepping out of the train and then of course, when the photos were displayed (it looked like another head)!

Tank tops are great especially if you have nice shoulders and toned arms. They also hold better (build in bra or you can have a sports bra underneath).

I think tube tops are tacky and meant for the very young. Very few people want to know how old the girls are. :teeth:
:scared1: :rotfl2: Really how gross! I'm not the most modest person but some people are just so tacky. There is nothing wrong with a tastful halter top. What about the girls wearing bikini tops and there whole butt is showing because their pants are so low. Now that needs to go. Also it is a family park and I don't want to see your thong and my children don't need to see hoochie wear either. :teeth:

I always wear halter tops. Nothing has ever been said to me about them. :confused3

We just returned and there were girls and women in bikini tops! If that is okay, a halter top should be fine. I wore camisole style and tank tops the whole week--those with built-in bras from Travelsmith. I even saw teens in the strapless tops, not tight tube tops, but nice, strapless tops. I would just be afraid that it may accidently get snatched down by a person or just in the crowd. There were some people there who were wearing swimsuit tops or other tops that were inappropriate because they were ill fitting or way too small. I don't care how hot it is, there are just some people who should stay away from tube tops and short shorts. I actually saw more people in jeans and long sleeve (yes, long sleeve) shirts in July than we did inappropriate warm weather outfits. You should be fine!

We were at Kings Island in Cincinnati yesterday and I couldn't get over how many teenagers there were in skimpy bikini tops and shorts that were rolled up so small they might as well have just worn bikini bottoms. I was shocked that they were allowed in dressed like that. All I kept thinking was that I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be allowed at Disney. Maybe I'm wrong. :confused3 but it just seemed a bit much.

ok so after reading all of this... i have a question..

what if i was wearing a nice, tasteful tube top.. and instead of wearing no bra underneath, was wearing a swimswuit top in colors to match the tube top? would that be "tasteful" or would i be thrown out?

I honestly don't understand why anyone would WANT to wear a swimsuit top. They're nylon and spandex, which just equals clingy and hot! I think people's instincts are to wear as little as possible when its hot, but that's really not the best way to stay cool. A loose, lightweight, light colored top is much more comfortable in the heat and offers at least some protection from the sun as well. On our last trip, we saw a girl probably about 13 years old walking around AK in nothing but a bikini - no shorts or shirt over it, just a bikini and sneakers. It was disturbing!

I seem to remember when going to WDW in the 70s that the dress code was enforced pretty strictly, including the banning of swimsuits even UNDER other clothing as it was too easy to strip off the top layer. Of course, it could just be my selective "back in MY day" memory kicking in. :)

This is what my sister did last year and it was fine. No one said anything to her and it looked fine.

My own opinion: There's nothing wrong with halter tops or tube tops (I think some people in this thread have a narrow image in mind of what a tube top is... they're not all revealing), but I think the line should be drawn at bathing suit tops for women and shirtlessness for men.

I wear tankini tops with built in support, that come down to my waist and some of them tie halter neck though you wouldnt see the ties at the neck because I have long hair. It comfortable and cool for me to wear them. I am not exposing cleavage and there is no risk of them falling down or riding up at all. Most summer style tops I see expose more than my tankini halter necks. No different to wearing a tank top. I have seen women wearing those triangle bikini tops and can totally understand with the heat, though I would not wear one of those to a park myself. :confused3

Leave tube tops and halters home as you are not at the beach!! I do not want to see people falling out of these like you do see. This is a family opark after all. Go with sleeveless nice shirts!

I don't think this is necessary. If someone has a cute haltertop or tube top that is covering everything there is no reason for them not to be able to wear it. Like a previous poster mentioned she didn't want tan lines because her wedding was in the following days. A lot of females don't like tan lines and so these shirts help prevent them.

Also, there really isn't too much of a difference halter tops and spaghetti strap tank tops, with the halter the straps just go around your neck instead of over the shoulders but its probably comparable amount of fabric. So as long as people wear the right size shirts and a style that is flattering there is really no need to have to leave them at home. But that just my opinion.

My story:

Last Oct. 3 at about 2pm I was on the big ferry which was nearly empty travelling from the TTC to the MK. Across the way from me was a mommy with her family. She was about 30 and very attractive. Her shirt was light and loose. She saw me looking at her and leaned down. She was braless, and they were magnificent. The show continued for the whole ferry ride. Her husband didn't seem to notice. I was the best trip across Seven Seas Lagoon I ever had.

:cloud9:

Holy Cow! Where did that come from?!

i wore my bathing suit top to MK last summer! not ONE person said anything to me about it, and i was there ALL day. of course, i got hell for saying that i wore it on these boards about a month ago. but i think you'll be fine. as long as you're not "Falling out" all over the place, i think you should be fine.

i mean, honestly, when it's 110 degrees out with a humidity of like 90%, i really don't think they're gonna say anything to you about it.

why would anyone really even care??? i remember tons of swim suit tops, and i can't imagine that a halter or tube top would be even a problem......

now, on me, the rolls would hide the top and i might get mistaken for topless.....so me braless, topless, or bikini top would not be necessarily indecent, just disgusting.......and people would not be able to eat after seeing my mess, i'll try to keep my stuff holstered and covered, but they do escape more due to gravity than size....

I also wore a tankini swimsuit top to AK last summer and no one said anything to me about it. But I'm paranoid now that next time I go someone might say something, so I'll probably bring a t-shirt to cover up with if need be.

This weekend we saw lots of women in bikini tops, tanks, and halters. There were quite a few well endowed women of all ages wearing what I personally thought wasn't "family friendly" but there they were, in the parks. I doesn't really bother me; I just think some people don't care what they show. I also couldn't get over the women (notice, I said women and not girls) who were wearing really, really short shorts with their butts hanging waaaaaay out. That's a little too much, I mean, other people are going to be sitting where their bare butts have been!! :rotfl2: Of course, it's practically the same thing when teeny tiny thongs are involved.....

One unshakeable truth is that everyone will have their own definition of "family friendly". Trying to apply one's own definition onto other people is probably a worse transgression wearing arguably non-family friendly attire to the parks.

I couldn't agree more!!!!

There are accepted standards for what people wear in public in this country. The term "private parts" didn't come out of the air, it's a cultural construct.
I had a friend in the military (female) who was stationed for a short time in Saudi Arabia. When the women left the base, they had to cover themselves-not quite a burka, but head coverings, long sleeves and long pants or skirts. It was done so as not to offend the sensibilities of the Muslims in their own country. The cultural construct there is for women to be covered by clothing head to toe. Nobody is suggesting that we adopt that standard here, but we do expect both men and women to keep those parts that have been designated culturally as private covered. I don't really see that as "a worse transgression". Asking people to "keep it clean and keep it covered" really isn't infringing on anything. It's another example of something that gets repeated over and over on this board. You can't just do everything you want, everywhere you want.
