Tube/Halter Tops answer from WDW

Now, in defense of the tube toppers and halter tops, hasn't Disney noticed what some of the Princesses wear? I mean, my dad and DH just want to have lunch with Ariel and her sea shells (or D-shells as my dad says) and Jasmine and her bikini top. I won't wear tubes or halters cause I don't want the girls to make an unscheduled appearance, but if it's tasteful, then I think it's ok.
Some clothing should have an age and size limit, though.

Wow I never knew when I started this thread it would turn into a debate.. Basically I just wanted to know ppls experiences with wearing them to WDW or seeing other ppl who successfully wore them in the parks. I guess I will wear them and take a tshirt and if I have to slip it on to get in I can always slip it off later..Again I am not in the habit of wearing indecent clothes I am a 32 yr old mother of 2..lol Also not all tube tops are clingy, normally its just elastic over the top that hold it on and I for one always wear a strapless bra underneath.. Although that one story of loosing the bra and top coming up on the roller coaster really has me worried..lol

I think Disney would consider those items costumes, whereas the patrons are not to dress in costume wear.

I think that tube tops and bikini tops should not be allowed....this is a family place! I don't mind halter tops as much as long as they are covering "the girls" and worn by those wome/girls that don't have the risk of something coming out. I personally would not wear a halter simply because I am a little overweight and I don't think it looks good. I realize that Florida is hot, but you can always wear a tank top or another sleeveless top that is less form fitting to allow air to flow!!!

If everyone would just remember that Disney is a family place and dress appropriately then Disney wouldn't have to monitor so much!!!

As someone who does wear halter tops and tank tops (but not tube tops), I am curious what can be seen in a halter top that can not be seen in a tank top? I have always felt just as covered up in a halter as I do in a tank (as long as it stays tied of course).

I wonder how many of the ladies in small or revealing tops are from countries outside the US where standards are a bit different? I've met some folks from Europe who think that most Americans are unreasonable prudes when it comes to wardrobe, so maybe some of this is simply people who don't know that in our culture that kind of exposure is generally considered innapropriate.

ok so i bought a halter bikini top to wear at the parks, but i'd have a tshirt over it. Is that ok? I just think it would be more comfortable then wearing a bra all day long (imo)... would it be allowed if i had a tshirt over it, or not, since you can see the straps? I know when i went to high school (grad. 2004) if they could see the straps you had to change. They claim it was "distracting for the hormonal boys"... psh!

i've worn tube tops to wdw. sometimes that is all i bring for shirts depending on whether or not i am in a wedding and the dress i need to wear is strapless. i have never had a problem going to a park and wearing them. i am not well endowed and i make sure i am covered. i also have a strapless bra on as well in case anything should fall down. i think as long as you are covered then you shouldn't have a problem. if you truly are covered and a cm says something i would have them get a manager or someone else and verify that you are not wearing "appropriate" clothes. i'll be going in about 10 days and may wear a tube top again- i am very curious to see if i am given a hard time.

Then there was the guy in loose fitting gym shorts who sat down and folded his legs for the parade and the boys made an unscheduled appearance.

Whenever I see someone in a tube top, I want to come behind them and pull it down.

"What does a Scotsman wear under his kilt?" You mean to say if you saw a guy wearing one you would go right ahead and find out by pulling it up?

I would have a back up tee shirt in your bag just in case. You never know what the cm at the gate might do. See my post on the post about enforcing rules. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1187445 This lady's shirt was more than a tube top.

I would have to agree on bringing a t-shirt or tank top along in your bag. We were in WDW in July and the day we went to AK I told my daughter to go ahead and wear her swimsuit top, as to me, that park always seems to be the hottest. The CM at the gate never said a word and let her right in. However, while we were walking around in Asia a CM came up to my daughter and told her she wasn't allowed to be in the park in a swimsuit top. (her swimsuit top looks like a halter so she was well covered). Luckily we had brought along a tank top. So she just slipped that on over her swimsuit top. We aslo saw many adult women walking around all the parks in swimsuit tops that week. So I assume it just depends who the CM is as to if they will say anything.

Truthfully, nobody minds when someone wears something semi-revealing when they are in great shape and wearing the correct size. Problem is lots of folks think they look better than they do and still try to squeeze into the same size they did in high school...even if it was in 1962. I am a little on the pooh side myself. I only say these things out of love-and concern for those of us who have decent eyesight.

If there IS a set of written clothing rules at WDW, it needs to be either enforced - OR- disgarded all together...not randomly enforced. NOT: tube tops are OK if the person wearing it LOOKS GOOD or is wearing a strapless bra underneath or is flat-chested. And NOT ok if you are big chested, out of shape, are showing too many stretch marks, ETC. They cant exactly check for bras underneath or make beauty judgement calls so it'd be best to let people wear what they want -OR- have a strict set of modesty rules and enforce it 100 %. Not random CM's sending tube topped gals away one day and letting them "in" another!

That is typically what enforcement consists of: Forcing the guest to purchase a t-shirt to wear over the halter. So you should be just fine.

We really have a big problem in this country, if we cannot manage to instill more control than that in our boys.

The bottom line is, Disney is a public place, full of families with children. What might be appropriate at the beach or even at a family picnic might not work at Disney.

Oh my goodness! I am so glad I had the insight to slack of this morning and pull up the disboards before actually starting my day here at the office! That was so funny!
