Truthfully, nobody minds when someone wears something semi-revealing when they are in great shape and wearing the correct size. Problem is lots of folks think they look better than they do and still try to squeeze into the same size they did in high school...even if it was in 1962. I am a little on the pooh side myself. I only say these things out of love-and concern for those of us who have decent eyesight. :duck:

Well said!

As someone who does wear halter tops and tank tops (but not tube tops), I am curious what can be seen in a halter top that can not be seen in a tank top? I have always felt just as covered up in a halter as I do in a tank (as long as it stays tied of course).

(Yes, I know, a very intellectually stimulating question ))

You answered your own question. It is not the cut of the top, but the fact that it is held on throught a knot or bow, which can be undone.

Then there was the guy in loose fitting gym shorts who sat down and folded his legs for the parade and the boys made an unscheduled appearance.

Ok... EWWWW.. .. that's gross!

My college roomate was asked to put on a tshirt over a sports bra type top many, many years ago.....

I think if the top could pass for underwear its probably not considered appropriate.

I think it is all about common sense. Tasteful halter tops are fine. I even think the smocked baby doll tops would be fine (especially the kind that have spaghetti straps to hold them up. I think if you have anything to show in the breast area, it might be a good idea to wear a strapless bra and keep the cleavage to a minimum if you want to avoid problems.

(from a newspaper column I forget how many years ago) Old fashioned father blocking front door as daughter dressed in tank top and boxer shorts comes down the stairs, "My daughter does not go out in public wearing just men's underwear."

Who is in favor of a published quantitative standard, something like "this much of this body part, and that much of that body part, may be exposed".

The same rule would apply to boys as well as girls.

Also, aren't tube tops hot because they cling to the body?

GREAT IDEA :rolleyes1 ....

Now instead of mom's yelling at CM's for measuring their kids wrong - they'll start yelling at CM's for measuring their exposed skin wrong.

screw that idea.

Halter tops that is..... I also wear tank tops too and all of them are very tasteful. I keep in my mind that I am 30 yrs old and not 20. Alot of my tops have built in bras. I think those are the best.

I think the reason most of these ladies are getting turned away is because they have their "stuff" hanging all over the place and no one wants to see that. sad2: Especially at WDW! Alot of ladies wear these tops with the good intensions of feeling as comfortable as possible in 90+ weather. Trust me, I understand that part but they also need to keep in mind that there are children around.

We get plenty of chances on the news to see folks who live where its really hot. Full coverage in loose flowing light colored garments seems to be the norm.

of course, its arid there...

and a woman in a tube top might get stoned...

ok so i bought a halter bikini top to wear at the parks, but i'd have a tshirt over it. Is that ok? I just think it would be more comfortable then wearing a bra all day long (imo)... would it be allowed if i had a tshirt over it, or not, since you can see the straps? I know when i went to high school (grad. 2004) if they could see the straps you had to change. They claim it was "distracting for the hormonal boys"... psh!

Last year my sister (17) wore a halter bikini top with a tube top over it and no one every said a thing about it. You could obviously see the bikini staps, but the whole thing put together was very tasteful...nothing to revealing at all.

I think the basis is is the top conservative enought to cover what you have to cover. I wear strappy tops but they cover everything. Some of the newer evening wear is very plunging like a strap on the right one on the left and a band on the bottom to hod them together. The entire c enter is exposed, the "strap on the right covers the right and the left covers the left" and they tie around the neck--my favorite new HS dress code violation. Still remember calling a home in June about this one and the mother said. "well, I thought it looked just fine" My thought was fine for what her pole dancing interview?

I guess my point is check the mirror. If it is beachwear or club wear it isn't park wear.

I have also worn a "halter" top to WDW, but not the kind that ties behind the neck, only with a complete strap, with a halter bra underneath. I am of the "well endowed" persuasion, and I honestly just don't understand other women like me running around braless all day. Even those tank tops with them built in. . . I mean, that just doesn't seem comfortable to me. I don't have kids, so my girls still stand pretty well on their own, but the thought of a whole day of walking fast and rough rides, etc. . .just makes me hurt. :confused3 Not to mention embarassed. Maybe I am a little uptight, but I just don't need that kind of attention from thousands of strangers. Besides, when it is really hot, a loose, white t-shirt that provided more cover and prevented sunburn would be much more confortable IMHO.

That being said, I think Disney should have a published dress code if they are going to deny entrance into the park. Maybe something along the lines of denying anything that could resonably be expected to be revealing during the normal course of the day. For example: if you wore a tube top and then rode everest and raised your hands high in the air like you do on roller coasters, it is likely tube top would sneak below the modesty line. And the halters that tie are mostly dangerous not because of the cute little girls that wear them, but the cute little boys that like to sneak up behind them and untie their top. Maybe not fair, but I remember those days in the bikini at the pool well.

OK, on second thought, the white t-shirt would likely become transparent when exposed to Kali, and possibly Splash, so, well, maybe my plan isn't the best. But I still don't think the, "it's not written down but we know it when we see it," program is the best either.

The way i see it, as long as you were a bra with it, then it's ok. You gotta have a safety net when you're packing something above a C and trying to strap them down with a piece of cloth as thick as a belt. :lmao:

Now if it happens to fall off, i may take a peek or two but i'll definetly be  . :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: :teeth: pirate:

My daughter is also breast-fed and i'd hate for her to think it's nursing time.

I wear halter tops to Disney every trip. I've worn ones that tied and ones that don't, and ones where the halter strap can be removed so it can be a tube style top. I've never had a problem. Granted, the ones I wear that tie have a pretty significant tie (not just a thin shoelace style tie) because I have to keep the girls in check, but I've never once thought about it coming untied. :confused3

I wonder if they're also having an increasing level of "girls gone wild"-type flashing incidents on rides. I know on my last trip a lot of photos were unavailable, presumably due to antics of folks in them.

Could be Disney's way of curbing that fad.

I've never actually bought one of those pictures, but I've enjoyed enough of other people's to know that sometimes you'd snap up 100 copies of grandma's first drop on Tower of Terror, etc. To lose that memento because of some idiot is a shame.

The other day I saw two girls being denied access to BTM because they were wearing halter tops.

All we need to do is get Berkas made in white, for all of the ladies, as well the guys. Then no one will be offended!!
