Our fist family trip to disney is next week and we do not have a FP for TSMM. Our first priority at rope drop is to sign up for Jedi training for our sons. Ou first fast pass is at 9:45 star tours. We are planning on seeing fantasmic at 6:00 that evening. Magic hours are 8pm-10pm. Now my question is, would our better bet be to try to ride TSMM after signing up for Jedi training soon after rope drop or wait until magic hours that evening after 8:00?

Get in line at 9:59 pm for the shortest wait.

This. Even during PM EMH, TSMM can still see relatively high waits until closing. You can check after you sign up for Jedi training but I'd suspect they'd be nearing 45-60 minutes by then. It builds fast since the majority of people head straight to TSMM with no stop in between.

If I were you, I'd keep checking for a FP+ for TSMM until you leave.

If I were staying for 13 hours I would want to ride TSMM more than once so I'd go ahead and ride after you sign up for Jedi. But if you only care about doing it once, at the end of EMH is your best bet.

Keep in mind that posted wait times are often greatly exaggerated in the evening.

In early June, we were able to ride Midway Mania 4 times in about an hour at 9 pm. The posted wait was 75 minutes, but the actual wait was 15 or less each time. This was a non-EMH night though, and we were riding during the early presentation of Fantasmic.

Sounds like we will check out the wait time after Jedi signup and if it's an outrageous wait then we will try again after evening magic hours.

I would be willing to bet you money that that 9:45 FP+ for Star Tours is going to be almost useless, so if you do see a short(ish) TSM line after JTA signups, don't skip it to rush over to Star Tours. You should be able to change that one easily.

I was thinking the same thing. I only got that early time on star tours so we can finish our 3 fp early enough to get Jedi training early afternoon before our 3:45 dinner reservation. Thanks for the input
