TSM standby-less test Oct. 6-9

You can use unlinked magic bands day of at the kiosks. The system was set up like that original so that off duty CMs and their guests could get fast passes since you could have a MB of staying on property but no ticket and originally we were not allowed to tap our main gates for fp+. Now that CMs can tap their main gates the loop hole needs to be closed.
so if i take extra magic bands to the park with no tickets attached i can get fastpass on that band?

no guarentee but yes you use to be able to do that. however some CMs will not let you do it anymore if they realize that no name pops up because that shows it is not linked to a MDE account.

We'll be at WDW next week, while I am hoping that none of these "tests" will be going on since they are unannounced, I really have no way to prepare for them other than practice my fake smile while moving my family on to the next attraction (pretending this was no different than a ride being down for maintenance when we want to ride standby), while inside fuming knowing that this is so WAY different than a ride being down for maintenance and there is no good reason that WDW should be doing these tests when all of the previous tests of this kind have failed. What makes them think that TSM would be any different than Soarin??? Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results... Has Disney gone insane?????

It's completely asinine of Disney to conduct a "test" like this if the purpose is to determine how many riders can be accommodated under different scenarios and loading factors. Any imaginable reality can be tested using advanced mathematical queuing models. There's no reason to piss people off.

No. Models aren't that good. They still need to be tested in the actual world. If models worked so perfectly, then when they implemented them it wouldn't piss so many people off! :)

No, it doesn't sound like a crappy thing to do- it IS a crappy thing to do. And 5 won't make ANY difference- except to paying guests who could book them and use them.

Just wondering, why are you waiting till tomorrow to grab more?
There are no FP+ available for TSMM for tomorrow. Supposedly for this test they are freeing the equivalent of a days worth of standby FP+ slots in the morning on the day of use. Those are the ones I and others are going to grab.

last month you couldn't. They checked to make sure valid tickets were linked to each band.

Do not try and ride standby. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth. What truth? There is no standby.
Whoah.

I'm on the this is stupid and crazy side but I'm pretty sure plenty of people have already voiced that opinion. Man I would be ticked if I were in the parks during this. I feel bad for the CM's working at Guest Services at DHS today.

So much for your supposedly-

I have an AP too- I can check availability just like anyone else who has an AP can. As I suspected, you aren't really doing this. There most certainly is availability for several time spots and all the way thru the 9th.

Ah yes, a vast conspiracy to bring WDW to it's knees....good luck lol

This test is enough on its own to make people upset. Disney doesn't need your "help". You're just keeping FPs from people that would actually use them.

I just checked and I am able to get a FP for TSMM tomorrow (at least for a party of one).

:)

Since there is still availability for fp+ the rest of this week, I have to wonder if the demand is that great that this will really impact too many people.

For those that did rope drop hoping to ride standby, there was availability for the paper fp. Those that didn't do rope drop, I would imagine a great many of them had fp scheduled. I'm sure there were some that were willing to stand in a long line, but I'm not so sure that's a huge number. And those that had the option to come back another day could go ahead and book fp+ since there's availability.

If one knows about this test, all they have to do is go in and schedule fp+ for the remaining days. Again, there will be some who can't go another day, some who don't know the test is going on- but I think the numbers are small enough that it wouldn't have a huge impact. Soothe the upset with a few anytime fp's, maybe a comped this or that and Disney doesn't suffer a great deal of backlash.

I don't actually believe they're doing it since there is availability all week long- different time slots available every day.

This whole philosophy of thought as to how the WDW resort is being operated these days is exactly why I've gone from wanting to vacation there to, no thanks. Cannot wrap my brain around exactly why having to plan so extensively and so far in advance in order to visit theme parks that I'm very familiar with is a relaxing and pleasurable vacation.

At this point if we want to visit Disney it will be DLR, but the blatant greed & open disregard for their guests at this point has kind of soured me on the company as a whole. Just doesn't seem like the Disney we've known and loved anymore.

There are no FP+ slots left for today.

For tomorrow, you must be trying to reserve a single FP+ slot...try going for TWO and you'll see none are available.

The point is not to make reservations in days in advance. It's to do it the same day as they appear to release a different pool of FP+ slots in the morning to reflect the extra capacity of there being no standby line.

There is no conspiracy to bring WDW to it's knees, however if this results in an extra complaint or two to guest services or contributes to people tweeting that they've seen ride vehicles leave half empty, then it's accomplished all it's set out to do.

But have they truly failed? By OUR standard, they have been abysmal failures of monumental proportions. But that assumes that Disney's desired outcome (i.e., what they are testing) is the same as ours. I submit that they are NOT and that despite the epic disasters that guests are experiencing, the results being reported back to the decision makers are that the tests have all been a smashing success. And depending on what they were trying to accomplish, that could be quite true.

I just checked trying to make FPs for a party of two - I am able to do so. They are available.

Where are you checking FP availability? Maybe something is wrong with your app or your internet connection.

:confused3

I just checked for a party of 3 and was unable to book tsmm. :)
I couldn't book for a party of two.

Was just thinking...what on earth would Disney do if they implemented this and a ride had a breakdown and was out of service for an hour? Normally they would give priority to anyone who had a FP+ reservation during the breakdown time and allow them to return any time for the remainder of the day. This would be at the expense of the standby line. With all slots reserved, how could they even handle this...especially since the ride broken down may even be a different one as long is it's in the same tier?
