'If' the TSA showed consistency, things would be a lot easier. I, generally speaking, have no issue with TSA employees. I have always had good experiences with them. But, I have seen inconsistencies. What 'flies' at one airport's security point doesn't at another airport. And that's where the confusion often lies. If you are allowed to bring a sippy cup, with juice in it, through security at one airport, it should be okay other places.
I have read the TSA site...looking for some explanation about this. They allow juice, breast milk and bottles/cups (with liquid in them) to go through...that's what it says. However, it says infants and young children, and sometimes it says toddlers. It does say you have to declare the liguid/container as well. But, it does say it allows juice to go through....that an agent will test the cup/bottle for explosive residue, and will ask that the parent open the container for inspection.
It doesn't say a sippy cup will not be allowed....and that's what irks me. No consistency.

After making us pour our GS's apple juice out of his little sippy cup, when we got close to the front of the line, a TSA agent came over and told us all three to go through the xray scanner. I bent down to tell my GS that he'd need to walk into scanner, put his feet on the foot prints, hold his hands up, and stand really still and that I'd go through first to show him, then he could go, then my husband would be right behind him. He was very solemnly nodding, when another TSA agent gave the first one a disgusted look and told me to go through the xray scanner, but for my husband and grandson to go through the regular one. Once I got through, another TSA agent said she had to pat me down. I was wearing shorts, a thin tank top and was barefooted, because I had put my flip flops in the bin. No way could I have possibly had anything on me. Not wanting to deal with them, I never even wear jewelry through those scanners, keeping it in my personal item and putting in on after clearing security. I wear fitted clothing and absolutely nothing that could possibly set those scanners off. The TSA agent rubbed down both arms and legs. What the heck, both were bare.
My husband who was wearing cargo shorts and a button up shirt with pockets got to go through the regular scanner, while I who was wearing shorts with no pockets and thin tank got patted down.
There was absolutely no reason for it. I didn't even have a bobby pin in my hair and was wearing as little as was legal to make sure they couldn't pick me. Heck, I'm a 53 y/o grandmother traveling with my 3 y/o GS and my husband to WDW. What could possibly look suspicious about me? lol Maybe wearing shorts, a tank top, and flip flops in Texas in Feb looked suspicious, even though the weather was actually warm that day.lol
