Hello,
I am very new to this thread and am grateful for the information that everyone is posting.

I am trying to plan a trip for April or May for DisneyWorld. From what I have read so far, there are many good resorts to choose from. I will be travelling with my DH and 2 year old DS.

I am trying to figure out this whole code thing. I see that that there is a thread for people awating an April code - but I also read somewhere that a "general code" might be available soon. Do I just wait for an April or General code to be posted? Can I use them both? Also, I am a AAA member and a Disney Chase cardholder.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly apprieciated.

Thanks!

Welcome to the Dis!

You have come to the right place to find discounts. Just keep watching this board every day.

First, all different kinds of codes and rates are offered thoughout the year for Disney World. Some are discounts on packages that include room and tickets with or without dining, and some are for "room only" at the resorts (then you have to purchase your theme park tickets separately and pay out of pocket for dining). As a AAA member, you automatically qualify for AAA discounts on room only rates through CRO, and you can book a package directly through AAA. This is a little confusing. If you call 407WDISNEY, tell them your dates and resort you want and ask for AAA discount. They will give you a quote on the room (limited rooms are available in any discount category, and sometimes there is no longer availability at the discounted rate). You can still buy park tickets through Disney, but will not be able to add the dining plan and keep the AAA rate. If you call AAA, you can book the whole package including dining, and the discount will represent the same room-only savings you get through CRO.

Annual Passholder rates come out periodically, and you have to do the math to figure out if it would make sense to purchase an AP for the savings on the room.

Codes are sometimes available to a targeted audience, who might receive postcards or e-mails with a series of secret numbers they should use when making their ressie to qualify for that discount.

General Codes are offered to the public during slower times and are advertised on TV, newspapers, radio and word of mouth, and can be used be anyone. Sometimes Disney Visa card holders are invited to take advantage of these public codes a few days before the general public is allowed to use them, giving Disney Visa holders first choice of rooms and locations for whatever that discount might be. This has happened in the past with free dining and free ticket upgrades to park hoppers.

I personally always start by booking the room I want with my AAA rate through CRO, and then wait to see if anything better presents itself. I'm waiting for codes for April, too, so I hope it works out for you.

Good luck!
