My husband and I are considering becoming DVC members and just can't seem to find answers to a few questions. Maybe someone could help out?? We have a family of five (an infant in a pack n play now but will soon be out of that). If we are DVC members with AKV as our home resort, can we request a 1 bdrm queen with a bunk bed or do we get what we get?
On the points chart, AKV and BLT are the only one bedrooms that sleep up to five. Is that accurate or do any of the other 1 bedroom villas sleep five?
I feel like we need to know this before we move on so that we can determine how many points we will need.
Thank you in advance to anyone who can help!:flower3:

As far as I know, and I may be wrong because I am far from an expert, there is not such a thing as a one bedroom queen with bunk beds. I am only aware of 1 bedrooms that have a sleeper sofa. Animal Kingdom Lodge (except for value) and BLT have a sleeper sofa and a sleeper chair, thus sleeping 5. I am pretty sure that both Old Key West and Vero now have sleeper chairs as well. I have also read, but not experienced, that all resorts will allow 5 in a one bedroom, although they will not provide bedding. Hope this helps and that my info is correct.

Bunk bed rooms at both AKL and WL are not DVC rooms- you would have to use cash to get those rooms as they are not available for points.

The sleeper chairs in OKW and VB is good to know. Thanks!

Does anyone else know for sure if resorts will allow 5 guests in a 1 bdrm?
:confused3

In the past, DVC did allow five guests (aged three or older) in a one bedroom villa at BWV, BCV, VWL, SSR. Not sure if they still do since there are now one bedroom villas that officially sleep five. In the others, they did not provide the bedding (sheets, blankets, pillows, bed) or towels for the fifth person. You had to provide your own.

The only DVC villa that has bunk beds is the Tree House Villas at SSR. Those sleep nine (but they are small for nine).

The official occupancy for a 1 BR is 4 + infant. However, DVC has traditionally allowed members to put 5 guests on the reservation for a 1 BR. But I think this is just what they have done (vs. a guarantee), and it doesn't mean it will continue forever. (For comparison, Disney cash reservations will not book 5 in a 1 BR, only 4). They may stop that now that there are villas that do sleep 5.

BLT, AKV and OKW with the sleeper chairs have official occupancy of 5 (+infant). (And I guess VB as well based on the above post.)

Something to consider.... try to get as many points as you can... Those little kids grow up pretty fast and you will be needing a two bedroom. It happened to us and we added on points at a later date, but would have been cheaper at the beginning to get the points.
