We have decided to upgrade from Pop in February '08 but no rooms are available for our dates. Can you share hints for us trying to snag two rooms? Does CAA/AAA get an allotment? thanks in advance

Keep trying. CSR being a convention resorts holds blocks of rooms for conventions to book by a certain date. Once the "book by" date passes, left over rooms become available to the general public. Keep trying and good luck. It's a great resort.

I also tried to book CSR for next February and was told it was completely full. I booked POFQ instead and am really looking forward to it! Thought CSR looked great but I'm happy to have another great one booked and will not waste my time trying to change. If CSR always blocks out everything for conventions then I will probably never stay there because I don't like to make plans and then change them. [Besides, my hubby would think I was crazy just for trying to change hotels!]

The home builders' convention is Feb. 14-18 (Prez weekend) and CSR is one of the resorts they have listed (they have several since this is a convention of 100,000). My SIL is also going to WDW for a convention in Feb. 6-10 with his company and they are all booked at the CSR and convention center. Do you really want to be there during a convention, not me!

That's the best time to be at CSR. All those convention guests will be doing their meetings all day leaving the buses and pool free for the other guests. Beats fighting a crowded queue at POR/POFQ anyday.

Y&B Club, BW, Cont, GF, Swan and Dolphin are all convention resorts so if there will be 100,000 people, they will be staying at all the resorts in the area.

I have stayed at CSR during a convention and it was great as the buses are not crowded and you hardly ever have to deal with convention people, at least this was our expirence.

That sounds like me! LOL! I usually change my mind a couple of times before deciding. I think you made the right choice, you will love POFQ.

Unfortunately POFQ was booked for our dates, too. I was thinking the blocks for conventions might hold true. I will keep trying. I would be happy with POFQ, too. At this point all you can book for moderates is POR and Caribbean Beach. I am not as set on switching up to those two. I would like to minimize walking with the kids, a great pool and playground area, and reasonable bus service to the parks.

What is the convention for the Feb. 6-10? Maybe I can google the conference and find out when the deadline for hotel bookings is. Thanks!

As you can see all the resorts are up for grabs for this convention. I'd would just keep trying for CSR if that is the resort you really want. Here is the official list of hotels for the 2008 International Builders' Show.

Not sure, son-in-law didn't say what his early Feb convention was. We were mostly trying to figure out whether DD wanted to extend the stay longer or if we would overlap (that didn't work out as we are there Jan. 26-Feb. 1)

Lilolvr: thanks for posting that info. I was going to start looking for it. My hubby was thinking of going, so I had been to the site. Last year it was earlier in February as we were staying at the WL (first week of February) and let me say, there were tons of people attending the convention staying at the WL. They had lots of poster boards around the lobby welcoming them, plus bus service taking the folks to and from the convention center (Orlando). While they didn't have much of an impact on the parks (except EPCOT at night), there was alot of impact on the restruarants. We were surprised to see that this huge convention is during the Prez weekend, which will make for a crazy crowded weekend at the resorts. This seems to be an annual convention and is hugely popular.

This is good advice, keep trying!! CSR is a great resort and has much more to offer than POFQ.

Now, if we can't get it, or want to book a second choice, which would be better: Caribbean Beach or POR?

We want: easy bus, family fun, not too much walking.

Thanks!
