Truvia vs. Splenda

Which is better?

The only thing I add sugar to is iced tea, and I was just wondering which one of these is better taste wise. I can tolerate Splenda even with the artificial aftertaste, but I heard truvia tasted better.

I have used both. I do think Splenda leaves a bit of an aftertaste, but it doesn't bother me. I don't notice an aftertaste with Truvia at all. However, I also don't think it makes things as sweet as Splenda.

So, I slightly prefer Splenda, but sometimes I get really good coupons so I will get Truvia then.

PS...I grew up around artificial sweetners (brother and DH both Type 1 juvenile diabetics) so I am probably more used to them than the regular person.

I had tried both also and I agree w/ PP that Truvia is not as sweet. It also seems to have a "sweet potato" aftertaste to me. I prefer Splenda.

Taste is probably going to be a personal thing. I cannot stand the taste (too sweet) or the after effects of Splenda. I much prefer Truvia for taste and other reasons. Then again I am not a fan of artificial sweeteners, so I do not use them often.

I've also tried them both and prefer sucralose (Splenda) in general. However, I use different sweeteners for different things, because I find each one is best in certain circumstances. I'll use sucralose, for example, in salad dressings (such as for cole slaw), but find saccharine is much better in coffee. I prefer stevia (like Truvia) for tea, though. And I'll use granulated sugar in breads, while I'll use a light brown sugar mix for oatmeal. Everything in moderation, rather than just focusing on one sweetener.

I prefer to go without adding any type of artificial sweetner, but I think truvia is the safest out of the two.
