First off, like Stacy said, Jen had no way of knowing whether those women were Jewish or not. So why put it in there? If you had seen the show, you would of heard the context of her statements, they were not nice, and it implied that had the women NOT been Jewish, they may have been a little nicer about their critisism. I am not Jewish, and it shocked me to hear her say those things. So I can only imagine how offended Stacy must of been.

If you are going to complain about someone. leave the ethnicity out of it. If she had said "those two old ladies...." that would of just been her frustrated about two old ladies who complain...she put the Jewish in there, and now she sounds racist. Especially when she had no idea if they were Jewish or not.

Did you actually see the show? This was the first time I caught it and I can tell you, without uncertainty. she said it in a derrogatory way. She didn't even know for a fact, whether they were jewish or not.

TC:cool:

I caught the replay last night on CNBC and thought Trump did the right thing by firing her. She kept saying that everyone else was toxic, but in fact SHE was the one that was causing trouble. She was also one of the worst leaders I've ever seen on that show.

Dalt01, it's hard to explain the tone of her voice when she said "Jewish" but it wasn't just a simple, descriptive term. She said it like she had a bad taste in her mouth. It did make a difference in this case. I got the impression that she has many prejudices and Jews were just one of them.

I agree, she said it in a very derogatory way, not in a descriptive tone. She had NO proof of their ethnicity or religion but said it in a nasty tone and anyone with ears KNEW what she meant.

Dalt, I don't know if you're just playing devil's advocate here or what but you HAVE to know what we mean or do you just want to think we've missed the obvious point? She was hardly using this in a denotative way as everyone said, she was TRY8ING to be nasty and succeeded.

I'm glad she's gone, and not just because of her stupid remark.

Barb, I agree that these women do not take on responsiblity at all. They turned on Stacy J last week to keep the spotlight off of themselves and now they don't have anyone to chew up. They will eventually kill themselves off.

The funny thing about the whole incident is that I bet these people who dined in both restaurants were asked if they wanted a free meal by just filling out a survey card at the end--either team could of gotten people who were too picky or too demanding--and they were getting a free meal to boot. I'm sure Jen is going to make it known that she was really sorry for the comment and was under stress.

just presenting a different possibility to stimulate the conversation, i think they are replaying it tonite on one of the upper channels i will have to watch

dalt01-

I'm not quite sure what the last sentence in your last post is inferring- "When we watch reality sometimes we actually see reality and sometimes we see ourselves and sometimes we don't like it." If you are insinuating that I could be objecting because I am suddenly seeing myself in Jennifer- then you would certainly have to apply the same logic to everyone else on this thread that has objected and was offended by what she said.

Racism and prejudice sickens me. Insinuating something about someone because of their nationality, ethnicity or religion is wrong. PERIOD.

if indeed we are going to talk about racism and prejudice let me put forward that it is alive and well and liveing in all our neighborhoods just ask some people what they think of our middle eastern neighbors or ask yourself what thoughts went through your head or anyones for that matter the last time they boarded a plane and someone from that part of the world was on it. or tell me you havent heard from someone, i got a good price but i had to "jew" them down i could give many more examples. but when everybody talks to each other we all hate and despise such things. i guess im saying im just not shocked at what the girl said on TV. now be nice cause im not advocating any of that talk im just giveing an opposing view to stimulate the conversation

Definition of devil's advocate

noun {C usually singular}

someone who pretends, in an argument or discussion, to be against an idea or plan which a lot of people support, in order to make people discuss and consider it in more detail:
- I don't really believe all that - I was just playing devil's advocate.

I guess the answer is yes.

And NO ONE has to remind ME that racism exists. I am reminded of it daily.

I agree with you. Unfortunately racisim and prejudice - are alive and well. I understand what you are saying when you say that you are not "shocked" that someone would say something like that. I understand now (and THANK YOU for clariying your stance here) that you are not advocating it. But.... maybe if more people exhibited shock when they heard such comments, and then spoke out against them, the comments would not be made at all.

that's part of the problem -- how on earth do you even know they're Jewish? I saw the show, they were two older women, you see their type a lot in NYC, they could have been a number of different ethnic groups. and their ethnicity had nothing to do with what they said about the restaurant or what Jennifer said about them.
