OK - I can't believe it's already over, but we just got back from our first trip home to BCV and we cannot wait to go back. So much to say and don't know where to begin so I'll just dive right in.
5/30 - drive down was long (due to traffic and construction) but we made it to Wilderness Lodge and checked right in. Went straight to the pool and hung out for several hours until dinner. Pool was fun!! We walked the grounds for a bit, did some of the hidden Mickey scavenger hunt, and then ate at Whispering Canyon. Food was ok - not horrible but not "to die for" either.
5/31 - checked out of WL and headed straight for Blizzard Beach. Spent the day there until 2:00 pm when we headed home to BCV. When we arrived our room was not ready to we went to SAB and the kids went swimming for a bit. Room finally ready at 4:00 pm so we unloaded the car and went up to see our home for the week.
(side note: call ahead and ask them to get your room ready. We ran into housekeeping and the gal told us she could have done our room first had she known we were waiting or were to arrive early).
As for the room - definitely exceeded our expectations. We were in a 1B and had plenty of room for myself, DW, and teenage DD and wannabe teenage DD. We were able to unpack all our bags into the dressers, closet, etc., and all the food we brough with us into the cabinets in the kitchen, and did not feel at all cramped. DW and I LOVED (!!!!!) the master suite - king bed, private dressing area and the jacuzzi tub, and our own balcony to watch the Epcot fireworks on at night. The girls hung out in the living room all week and we didn't hear too much arguing so we assume it was plenty of space for them.
Dinner at Spoodles - one of our favorites.
6/1 - early entry to MK. Went for a few hours and came back home. Swam in pool for several hours and then to Epcot for dinner (Japan).
6/2 - no plans. Went to the pool early and stayed there until late afternoon. Went to movies at Downtown Disney (Finding Nemo - great, must see!!) and dinner at the Portebello Yacht Club. Dinner was great - restaurant is kinda hidden so we were able to get in at 7:30 with no priority seating.
6/3 - Spa at Saratoga Springs for DW, Disney Quest for myself and DDs. DW said spa was nice and she could've spent the entire day there. We all loved Disney Quest - will definitely do that again. Cheesecake Factory....nuf said.
La Nouba that night. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Exceeded our expectations (mainly because we didn't really know what to expect). We had seats in the 5th row and it was awesome.
6/4 - No plans. DW and I ran the loop around the lake and then had breakfast sitting next to SAB (got food from the lobby snack bar in Beach Club). Didn't realize pools aren't open until 9:00 so it gave us time to chat and read. We called the girls to wake them up and they joined us later that afternoon. We did Beaches and Cream for lunch (11:30 - go early!!) and had dinner in room.
6/5 - AK and MGM. Flying Fish for dinner (great food - pricy and fancy, but worth it!). Fireworks from the Boardwalk.
6/6 - Character Breakfast at Cape May Cafe. Never done one of these so we decided to go. It was a blast and we will probable make that a tradition for future trips.
Overall we had a blast and now I need to plan our return trip!!
LESSONS LEARNED:
1. Don't go to Goodings!! We did and can't believe how much we spent on so little. We found a new Publix near the premium outlet mall and will go there in the future.
2. Call ahead. Make sure that room is ready.
