And my 5k went UP by 5 minutes! :scared: So apparently I cant transition well enough to have that many speed changes! :rotfl: I guess I still have some experimenting to do before my half! I have exactly 2 months and one day to get it right.

This takes some practice, so don't give up too quickly on any particular run/walk ratio before trying another. Other than being slower overall how did you feel while doing this ratio? Did you feel stronger, like you could go farther this way? I hope I am not misstating, but I think Galloway's theory is that by finding the right run/walk ratio you will reduce your overall fatigue and be able to finish stronger and ultimately faster. He told me that he and his wife train at 1/1, but race at 30/30. He said it sounds counter intuitive, but they finish faster with the shorter intervals.

My humble suggestion is that you give it a few more "test runs" before you try another ratio, but YMMV. LOL

Good luck!

I'm back to training with the C25K and bridge to 10K because Galloway was making zero headway with me. I had the same issue with the 30/30. I did switch to 30/30 from 1/1 when it was so hot out but Thursday I did C25K week 1 and ran a 12:15 mm, I had been stuck at 14:30 mm since starting Galloway.
Also 30/30 didn't work for me mentally either, it was just to much thinking and not enough moving.

I really liked the Galloway plan and I still think it's great but it just wasn't working for me.

Trying to remember what your user name was, were you at the Columbus 1/2 marathon this AM? If so I think we were talking before the start.

That was me! How did your race go?

Ok til last 3 miles.. My legs were just gone. My fault on being a slacker on my training runs lately. Was hoping for 2:50 or so... came in at 3:10 :scared:

It's ok though. I know I can do it, I just have to focus. Bottom line is, it WILL get me out of the last corral if my Columbus Marathon time falls apart..

It was hot, so that of course kills my speed and my endurance. I was only set to do a 10k, so it shouldn't have done that much damage though. Prior to this run I had been training at a 2/1 ratio so maybe it was just too far of a jump down. Perhaps I will try 1/1 for next weekend and see how that goes (my weekday runs are just straight out runs or minor speed changes right now since I am using a treadmill and it is way to hard to try and transition back and forth with buttons, plus I am only doing a 5k). I have been picking a random C25K training here and there on the treadmill to get in varying speed without having to transition much. Today I was going to do an 8/2 ratio for 45 minutes or so.

Sorry your finish wasn't what you hoped. The good news is that it should be a lot cooler for the Columbus Marathon!

Hey D.... Do you know you have another shot at a 10 or 20 miler back at 3 Creeks? EAS Distance Classic is a 10 and a 20 miler on Sept 22. Link to info at Premier Races site.
