I am thinking about trying to get the a treehouse villa at the 11 month mark for summer 2012. I love Saratoga but I am wondering about the treehouses. What have your experiences been at the treehouses? Are they fairly easy to get at the 11 month mark? What are the pros and cons about them? Any experiences or insights would be appreciated.

We tried out the treehouses in January and loved them. You just cannot beat having three "real" bedrooms! The kids loved them and it is great to have some separate space for everyone. Nice location for proximity to DTD and they have their own boat dock. They are one of DVC's best bargains in my opinion... There are a few things which some might find as negatives:

-Queen Bed in the Master bedroom. This is somewhat offset by a very nice master bath (IMHO).
-Remote location. Bus ride back to the main resort for meals, pool, etc.
-It's a great resort if you have a car, not so great if you need to take the bus to the parks as you must make a bus connection at SSR.

We haven't stayed there yet, but have had success booking easily at the 11mn mark twice now. I have rebooked at 7m for each of those trips mainly due to transportation issues. I even called a few days ago at our 7m window for Oct, and they had availability for Columbus weekend at 7m out. I was surprised they were available for a holiday weekend at the 7 m mark. We weren't going to have a car on either of those trips, and with 3 kids in car seats, we didn't want to bring car seats and rent a car. The idea of taking a bus to wait for another bus to go to a park is not appealing to us.
One day we will stay there when we have a car with us. They look beautiful.

I stayed last August and my family had a great time, but we did have our own car. I could see how it would be annoying to have to wait for not just 1 but 2 buses to get to the parks. Plus we are now the type of family to have a more relaxed approach instead of the commando style that we had when we first started and got to enjoy the amenities offered, didn't mind walking to the main Saratoga etc.

I called on the 11 month date and didn't have a problem getting a unit.

We're booked at the THV for New Years 2012 and early January. We booked at 11 months, and we didn't have any problems. We're considering changing to either VWL or OKW at 7 month because of the bus issue. We booked the THV originally because we hoped to have another family join us (we're a family of 5), and we liked the idea of 3 BR and 3 baths if we had two families. I'd be interested to hear from others how the THVs were for two families (group of 9-10 including kids).

They sound fun, and we've also thought about renting a car to make it easier.

We stayed at one last Xmas with another family. All together we had 9 people, 5 adults and 4 children. It is a bit tight with 9; 6 or 7 would be great.

We loved them, even with the transportation issues. We want to stay there again. I made the reservation exactly at 11 months and had to WL for one day, but at Xmas, I was not surprised.

Love them. It's the reason we added on.

That being said, be sure to rent a car.

A previous poster mentioned three bathrooms. This is not correct. The treehouse villas have two bathrooms.

The treehouses are usually hard to get so you need to book very early. We were lucky to get one for this June.

We just returned from our stay at the Treehouses - my grandkids loved them since they had room to run around and they wouldn't be distubing the neighbors below us. It is a very quiet resort so that was a plus! And it's only a short walk over to the Grandstand bus stop to catch a bus to the parks which didn't bother anyone in our group. We had a party of 7 with 3 of them being 5 and under so it was an adventure to all of them. We also had a car so it was easy to get out and get some groceries for our stay.

what are the chances, do you think, of getting a reservation at 7mos for the end of next August? slim to none?

I say try and WL if it is not available, there are very limited units but you never know!

I did get our 7 nights THV for Feb 2012, I am excited to try them (its why we added on SSR also). We are a family of 5 (2 DD's will only be there for 4 -5 nights) and my parents may stay 1 - 2 nights. This year we were in a 2 bedroom at BLT so this should be quite a differnent vacation!

we havn`t stayed in them yet but we have had a look at them in youtube, there are a few people who have made videos of the tree houses and they look great. we hope to book one of them next year so if you go ahead and stay in one let us all know what you thought;)

There is a quiet pool at the THV and it's only about a 15 minute walk to the pool at the Grandstand and another 10 minutes or so from there to the main bldg and pool.

Look for my trip report, as we'll be in a treehouse from March 24th to the 31st, followed by a 4 day Disney Dream cruise.

There are 6 of us in the threehouse. My parents, myself, and my three kids, Brendan (10, turning 11 on the trip), and twin girls(Jessica and Ciara) that are 7.

We have no car, and will be relying on Disney transportation. We'll be utilizing the Disney dining plan. Breakfasts in the treehouse, quick serve lunches, and table service dinners.

I've requested a room close to the main building, as we do not have a car.
