Traveling Turkeys 2010

My wife Jan our two daughters their husbands and our 5 grandchildren (8,6,5,4,2.75) and I will be taking our second thanksgiving cruise. The first was a 4 night Wonder Cruise combined wit 4 nights at WDW. We all agreed that we had a fantastic time and would do a 7 night cruise the next time. Well the next time is coming up.

Jan and I have taken 6 other cruises and agree the Disney Line is near the top.

See you aboard

Steve

Welcome aboard Steve! We took a that same trip in 2006 and came to the same decision. We did the 7-day thanksgiving cruise in 2008 and can't wait for this one! I have a website with our cruise info- not much on it as of yet but if you want the link, send me a pm.

Tomorrow marks the 10 month count down! I am so excited!:banana:

We were so close to having to cancel because of money. Instead, we've cancelled all our DVC trips and plan to use our points to pay for 3 of us. We had booked a 3 bedroom at Bay Lake for DD's birthday in August. She said she'd rather go on a cruise for Thanksgiving. Luckily, we'll spend plenty of time at Bay Lake with other friends this year. ;-) (the ones traveling with us on this cruise)

Shay,
I am so glad that you are still able to cruise with us.

Welcome aboard Steve!

Shay- Glad you didn't have to cancel. This cruise is going to be so much fun!!! :goodvibes

Suz D- we're in Morgantown too! we never really see anyone from WV on our cruises YAY!

Namsupak, I can't believe I missed your reply to my question. With Christmas and then our 9 days at Disney starting NY day, I just missed it. I can't believe you are from M-town!! Everyone sing with me now..."It's a Small World After All, It's a Small World After All, It's a Small World After All, It's a Small, Small World".

That is just too fun! Wouldn't it be funny if somehow we knew each other? We haven't lived here very long (19 months) so we don't know that many people. Can't wait to meet you guys!

This reminds me of a fun "small world" story from our first cruise. I sell scrapbooking and stamping supplies for a home party plan company and was doing a demonstration for a woman who had found me through the internet. She lived about 1 1/2 hours from me so I drove down for most of the day. I was giving my spiel about how much I love working for my company and that it supports several of my hobbies. I opened my Disney ABC scrapbook and showed that and then at the end I said that we were going on our first Disney cruise on the Wonder over NYE that year. One of the ladies popped up and said she was going on that same cruise. We ran into them on our last day up at Beach Blanket (or is it Topsiders on the Wonder? I can never remember).

Well, anyway we'll have to PM to find out more about each other and try to meet before we cruise. We live in the Brookhaven area in Westbrook Heights.

Suz

Happy Groundhog Day a little early! I am hoping that Phil doesn't see his shadow- not sure about having 6 more weeks of winter. We have been having lots of cold here in Texas and very little sunshine. I could use a large dose of sunshine and beach time! Just think we are one month closer to sailing!:cool1:

Jan and I decided we needed a winter pick-me-up before the Thanksgiving cruise so we are taking a 11 day Western Caribbean Cruise on Celebrity out of Charleston. Cruising is habit forming and we do't want to break the habit.
Has Disney made any long range plans for Europe? I never considered Disney a destination cruise line. So it will be interesting how well they do this year in Europe.
There is so much fun on board that the port is almost secondary. (Castaway Cay is an exception)
On the Thanksgiving cruise we probably will stay on board until St. Thomas and then get off only to let Jan buy some Linen table ware.

Steve, you hit the nail on the head for us. If we were going to do a cruise in Europe it wouldn't be with Disney. We love our time on the ship WAY too much! The ports are almost secondary to us too ::yes::

Well, Lauren's family and my family are both waiting for the snow to pile up. We're expected to have between 12-18 inches. Even the university shut down early. I went and got 5 Red Box movies and some fun comfort food this morning at the store. We're going to sit in front of the fire and relax. I might do some scrapbooking later this afternoon but that remains to be seen.

12-18 inches of snow- oh my! Stay warm this weekend! All we seem to get around here these days is rain! I am so tired of it!

Well with all the bad weather in the Mid-west and Atlantic coast maybe we should all have booked a Valentines day cruise too!
Brrrr

Steve- I agree. We definitely should have done a Feb cruise... in fact DH just said we should never go more than 6 months without a cruise, but I'm not sure how realistic that is.

So Suz and I got about 15 inches of snow. It took DH and SIL 2 hours to shovel the driveway. There are trees down all over the place, but luckily we still have power (knock on wood). We weren't hit as hard though as the county next to us. They always get way more than us. It's a stay inside weekend for us. We cannot wait for spring! And I can't wait for this cruise!!!

Glad you guys are staying warm. Keep dreaming of those warm tropical breezes!

This is the time of year when I remember one of the biggest reasons I live in Florida, no snow. Another big one is Disney, of course. :thumbsup2

Stay safe and warm to all those dealing with the bad winter storms.

I am a native of St Augustine, FL and when I was very young there was the following event:
1950's (6 Snow Events, 3 Major Snow Events)
February 2, 1951: Snowfall begins and ends the following day, accumulating to about 2 inches (51mm) in Saint Augustine and Crescent City.[6]

So not even Florida is immune especially since the atmosphere is in a cooling cycle since 1998. I don't, however, think you need to worry yet.
(Humor intended no political implications).

:rotfl: It actually did snow in parts of Florida this year, but luckily not my part.

When we went to WDW in 2006 over the Thanksgiving week, it turned bitterly cold. It was cold when we left Texas but was suppose to warm up the next day so we wore warm clothes on the airplane and pack for the tropics. We ended up wearing our jeans and long sleeve shirts for our entire stay at the park. Snow was even reported in the area! Our shorts stayed in the suitcase until we got on the ship and sailed to warmer climes. It made for a memorable trip. We still talk about the wind chill over the lake at Epcot!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! We had record snowfalls here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Had 12 inches of snow at the house. Girls had Friday off so they have to go to school tomorrow. What a crazy winter we are having. This is the 3 snow with accumulation this winter- we are lucky if we get one a winter. Been keeping warm at home watching the Olympics!
